Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 7
Welcome to Thread 7! You'll notice the slight name change, as I already opened up the thread to all forum members who want to help showcase the products during Thread 6. It's very rewarding to see how often the threads are surfed, even after they close. If you're new to buying from Daz or just want to see different images and opinions from those who have bought the products, take some time (lol, well, a LOT of time, they're monster threads) and surf back through!
Here are the thread locations:
Thread 1 is HERE Thread 2 is HERE Thread 3 is HERE
Thread 4 is HERE Thread 5 is HERE Thread 6 is HERE.Some fun facts. The five closed threads (NOT counting thread 6) get approximately 4,000 additional views every 28 days. Currently on Sept 7, 2016, there are 414,765 posts/views.
As of January 26, 2017: Thread 1 81,248 (+730) Thread 2 65,772 (+467) Thread 3 76,579 (+930) Thread 4 56,392 (+505) Thread 5 51,165 (+494) Thread 6 68,244 (+2986) Thread 7 45,657 (+24,180) Total: Threads 1-6 (+6,112) Total Threads 1-7 (+30,292 posts/views) Total: 445,057 views/posts.

The thread showcases products both old and new. We're all surprised by the great oldies that evoke feelings of "Where'd that come from? I don't remember seeing that in the store..." or "Oh yeah, I have that!" If you need motivation to dig into your Runtime, this is the thread to motivate you. If you don't want to spend money...well... stop now. Here's where you'll find family friendly (and sexy but only in good taste. Surf the previous threads to get an idea.)
The most used other thread I started is Free Backgrounds. Head over and grab a few, contribute a few, and enjoy!

Victoria V4 is not TExturing CorrectlySo the problem is when I load a pz2 onto V4 as in the example below look what happens :(
Why is this happening, with textures in 4.9 it never happened in the old versions.
Its not fixable either, you have to log off, log on and then start again which is to be honest frustrating to say the least.
Finding Products Using ConnectFor that matter Victoria 4.2 base also doesn't show.
Iray speed setting - in case your renders are waaaaaay too slow! Here's what worked for me to speed rendering for movies (short clips of a minute or less):
Choose or set:
Under Render Settings:
(1) set render engine to: Basic OpenGL (the render warns you not to obscure the "viewport" when you choose Basic OpenGL to use for rendering)(2) set render type to: movie
After movie renders, , you will be prompted on whether to compress the file. I have played around with the different choices, and the "Intel" compression option on my system worked. You can also choose no compression, but the resulting avi will be a comparatively large file size.
I'm working on a laptop with nothing near cutting edge specs: 8 gigs ram, 673 gb non SSD hard drive, and intel i7-2670 QM CPU 2.20 ghz. As a test, I did a render of a one-minute clip (a single character, based on Victoria 5, walking around and dancing in the "contemporary studio apartment"). It rendered in under an hour.
Victoria 4.2 base in 4.9 pro issues.Launch the DIM and check to see if it available in the "Download Files" tab, if not, you may need to the "Installed" tab and find it to uninstall, then reinstall from the Download tab.
Thats how did it, go through products found Victoria 4.2 and then install her with DIM she should show up in Content, Smart and have a look in the file called "LostFound" loads of stuff in there that you forgot you had. xxx
Re: Mimic Live - is there a config file for Genesis 2? (.dmc file)Hey all, so I just recently purchased Mimic Live and I was wondering if anyone knows of a configuration file existing for Gen 2 F/M figures?
Seems they stopped at Michael/Victoria 4, or at least that seems to be the latest profiles included with my purchase. And I don't see any add-on profiles in the Daz store.
If additional dmc's do not exist, is it possible to somehow creat a custom .dmc file?
converting V4 poses to GEN 3 female (the girl 7)Hi,
I have some very old products that contain Victoria 4 poses that I would like to convert to GEN 3 (more specifically the Girl 7) and was wondering the best way to go about it...Does anyone have experience doing this. Right now i am thinking the best solution might be using the following two products one after the other.
V4 Pose Converter for Genesis and Genesis 2 Female(s)
http://www.daz3d.com/v4-pose-converter-for-genesis-and-genesis-2-female-s
Pose Converter Genesis 2 Female(s) to Genesis 3 Female(s)
http://www.daz3d.com/pose-converter-genesis-2-female-s-to-genesis-3-female-s
Would this option work? has anyone been able to convert v4 poses to gen 3 without having to buy two seperate products? Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks in advance.
Do the Genesis Characters Have Names (and versions)?Genesis 3 Male : Eddie
Genesis 3 Female : Jeane
Genesis 2 Male : Phillip
Genesis 2 Female : Bree
Genesis Male : Jeremy
Genesis Female : Lana
Milleneum 4 Male : Michael 4
Milleneum 4 Female: Victoria 4
but people never call them that, they say, G3M, G3F, G2M, G2F, or Gen (Gen because the male & female use the same mesh in the original Genesis).
Victoria 4 and Michael 4 were the last time those two characters were free as part of DAZ Studio I believe and those were the last non-Genesis characters.
They call the Victoria 5 and Michael 5 - V5 & M5 (Genesis), Victoria 6 and Michael 6 - V6 & M6, and finally Victoria 7 and Michael 7 - V7 & M7. Those are paid characters now and if you look in the DAZ Store there are many similar Genesis 1, 2, & 3 characters to choose from. Those characters will be 'DAZ Originals' and are more than just a face morph and set of textures.
The Milleneum characters go all the way back to about 2000, although I think Victoria has always been the name of the main Milleneum female character, I think the original Milleneum male character was David.
There is probably a DAZ Store web page or thread sticky that says all this in more detail.
Do the Genesis Characters Have Names (and versions)?Original Genesis is generation 5 so Michael 5 and Victoria 5 and any other character with 5
Genesis2M is generation 6 so Michael 6 and any other male character with 6
Gensesis2F is generation 6 soVictoria 6 and any other character with a 6
Genesis 3F is generation 7 Victoria 7 and any other character with a 7
Genesis 3M is generation 7 Michael 7 and any other character with a 7
Do the Genesis Characters Have Names (and versions)?Hello all,
I'm trying to find exact fit items for the Gen 1, 2, and 3 characters; however, most of the items (hair, clothes, etc) go by names like Michael, Victoria, Stephanie, David, etc and then they list a version number as well. So, I recently downloaded the latest version of Daz3d and I have no idea what their names (or versions) are. Can anyone help? Thanks a bunch!

The I Wanted Mousse But Got A Moose Instead Complaint Thread.Who can answer this? Does V7 require anything other than Genesis 3 Female? I can't seem to find an answer on the product page and curiousity is starting to hurt.
Dana
Victoria 7 is a DAZ base figure, so G3F is all you need to use her.
Thanks!
Dana
DAZ Marketing Genius: convince skeptics with FREE Victoria 7All that matters to DAZ is making sure that enough potential customers have naked dollies that still need clothing. The problem with any generation of figure is that it doesn't take long for most of the buyers to collect enough product that overall sales figures start to slump again. In a year and a half this forum will be abuzz with kvetching and groaning about the Genesis 4 Female base looking too much like Taylor Swift, and endless debates about whether Victoria 4's double-jointed toes, additional buttock-bones and prehensile ear lobes make upgrading necessary. And the majority of us will just keep using what works for us personally.
My own attitude is that you can never have too many figures, but that the G3s are still badly limited in application, so I'll pick up them up when it's economically advantageous to do so and it brings me assests that I can use with Genesis 1 & 2. I bought Girl 7 purely because I saved far more on additional discounts by tossing her in the cart than she actually cost, and I bought MIchael 7, Gianni 7, Eva, Bethany, Olympia 7 and Victoria 7 once their bundles hit the point that they were so cheap that the effective cost equaled those figures being free while the clothing and hair items in them worked out to around $3.00 each. On the other hand, I bought Josie 7 and Karen on launch, as I just really liked the potential they added to my runtime gene pool. Gia 7 is... tempting... but I know that if I wait a few months, her Pro Bundle will drop to the $30 range.
DAZ Marketing Genius: convince skeptics with FREE Victoria 7Genesis, Genesis 2 Female, Genesis 2 Male, Genesis 3 Female and Genesis 3 Male are all free. Victoria and Michael have not been the base figures since DAZ generation 4 figures. You people could have tried them at any time with no extra cost.
V7 in Reality 2.5, can it be done and is it worth it?I also still work with Reality 2.5, and i have tried to work with Victoria 7, just to see how she would look when rendered with Reality 2.5, and i must say; i am liking it...But i still prefer the GF2 and V4 versions, but that is my humble opinion. My computer is an oldie, so maybe in the future i will upgrade to Reality 4...Here you can see the render i made with Victoria 7;
thanks, I'm still trying to figure the Gen3 out, I never used G1 or G2 so this is all new. I did install R4 at Paolo's request and bought the V7 preset for $3 so my $20 for V7 and her morphs and faces will pan out when I have more time to experiment, but at present I'm a little lost with it. Much has changed.
Genesis 3 GoZ with HDHey Manuel,
just read this thread and mybe i can help you. Just started with daz and zbrush (nice trial!!) a week ago and it took me some nights to figure out the workflow but now it works for me and maybe it is what you are looking for :-)
1.load genesis 3 to daz, if necessary pose into best position for morph (e.g. lift arms to morph underneath and so on)
2. reduce "Mesh resolution to base" and "subdivison level off"
3. "send to zbrush" via goz (if your figure is in high res + subdivision it will automatically reduce those if you do not check the resolution box.. .. as you already noticed)
4. pull the figure into the window, hit the" edit button", move and scale it
5. in tool pane go to "morph target" und press "StoreMT" (now the base mesh polygons are saved as they are - in the ONLY possible resolution to get them back to daz correctly)
6. go to Geometry and switch to "Higher Res" (as you notice Dynamic Subdiv will activate automatically) - the resolution is way better now and general morphs should work fine
7. if necessary hit the "Divide button" for more details (the Mesh Resolution shoud rise and the slider with position SDiv 2 activates)
8. if necessary hit the divide button again (i did not check limits on that, SDiv 3 worked well for me in regards of detail and no problems back in daz, maybe, only maybe it works with higher numbers also)
9. morph and get desired shape (this is where i am hanging at the moment - not so easy to deal all these brushes and settings in zbrush)
10. now the trick :-) after finishing your morph - move the "SDiv Slider to the left (value 1)"
11. go to "Morph Target" and hit "CreateDiff Mesh" and push the "switch" button (your figure should switch back to lower resolution and the morph gos on and off as you keep hitting the button :-)
12. finally hit the" GoZ button", name your morph in daz, put in desired path, (nothing else changed), and "Accept"
13. test your morph in "base Mesh Settings" and then switch to "high res" and "SubDivision Level 2" - everything should be great now :-)
Hope this helped and works for you and others, best regards, Christoph
Hi!!
Thank you so much for your advice and the detailed description! I've tried it and I was able to sculpt with very high detailed mesh in ZBrush and bring the morph back to DAZ Studio but I was not able to bring the details of the morph back to DAZ.
I made a couple of screenshots to illustrate the workflow.
- The first screenshot shows my Genesis 3 (Victoria 7 based) Model with no SubDivs in DAZ.
- The second shows the low poly mesh in ZBrush
- The third shows some sculpting after hitting the StoreMT button and increasing the resolution ("Higher Res" button and 2 times "Divide" button). The sculpt is just to illustrate some details. Please notice that I made some big changes on the top and some high details at the bottom.
- The fourth illustrates switching the subdiv level back to 1 just before hitting the "CreateDiff Mesh" button.
- The next one (5) shows the mesh after the "CreateDiff Mesh" and "Switch" button.
- The sixth is the DAZ dialog for importing the mesh (of course I had to hit the "Switch" button in ZBrush again to get the sculpt back)
- The 7th images shows the morph set to 100% on base resolution of Genesis 3. Notice that the big changes on top are applied but we cannot see the details at the bottom.
- The last one shows Genesis 3 with 3 Subdiv levels. Everything is smooth and the rough changes are there but the details at the bottom are barely visible at all.
Am I doing something wrong or is is really just possible with the Plugin that is available only for PAs?Thanks for any help!

Duplicate Formulas found in FilesI've cleaned everything out that I can think of so that the only verson of this product is now managed by DAZ Connect and is not in any other content dirs (and I have stripped my list of content dirs down as far as I can), but I continue to get the duplicate formula errors when the Victoria 7 Attitude Expressions are installed - the location of the Attitude items in the log now points to the DAZ Connect version instead of the non-DAZ Connect version. The only way I can stop the error is to uninstall Victoria 7 Attitude Expressions product with DAZ Connect. A subset of the new log messages is below:
