Carbon dioxide may not be literally toxic but it's killed a lot of people by displacing the oxygen in the area. Which is why use of large amounts of carbon dioxide needs adequate ventilation.
And yeah, we sat in the front, near the stage of Her Majesty's Theater in London for "Phantom of the Opera" back in the early '90s and we were neck deep in fog rolling off the stage during the boat scene. Cool!
Not as such, according to the normal definition of "toxic", but toxicity is usually a matter of amount, which is also the case here. CO2 may actually kill you if the concentration in the air is high enough, even if there is enough oxygen present.
"Concentrations of 7% to 10% (70,000 to 100,000 ppm) may cause suffocation, even in the presence of sufficient oxygen, manifesting as dizziness, headache, visual and hearing dysfunction, and unconsciousness within a few minutes to an hour."

So in the context discussed here it might become dangerous, in a small, poorly ventilated room. They also use it to stunn or kill pigs in the meat industry, though in that context they use pure CO2 with no oxygen. It's also heavier than air so even if you just faint because of it you may end up on the floor where there's only CO2 and no oxygen, and then you're almost sure to die.
I did nearly add that it isn't beneficial either, so shouldn't be allowed to displace the oxygenated air. I wasn't aware of the issue when oxygen is present, though.

Complaint: I just re-examined the schedule for Chautauqua and found a concert I'd missed. This coming Tuesday (8/14) is a performance of Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture (aka: "Fingal's Cave"). Cool!

...usually going to the corner pub that has AC. Cinemas in town are too expense and that only lasts about 2 hours then it's just deal with the heat or go to another and spend another 12 - 18$. Don't drink that much coffee anymore (acid issues) so staying all day at a coffee shop doesn't work anymore.

...yeah another day in the 90s again (92°), even though it was supposed to cool down into the low- mid 80s today. That 60% chance of water from the sky for tomorrow has pretty much been taken out of the forecast now however still calling for a high in the upper 70s, low 80s Sunday so two days of relief.
Based on the ten day forecast, we will have one month (31 days) worth of 90+ temperatures by mid month (as recorded at the airport, 34 days as recorded in the city). Feels like I'm back in New Orleans again save for the extreme humidity and great Cajun/Creole food (though there is a streetcar that goes by my building like I had when I lived there).

Non-complaint: While going through these boxes of photos I found a few of my office/lab at the Kennedy Space Center in the Launch Control Center. Two Raytheon mini-computers. These four pictures show one of the computers arranged in a "U" shape around my pilot's chair. A KSR-33 teletype & Tektronics 4012 graphic storage display, a card reader & line printer on one side, two 9-track tape drives behind me, and on my left a 7-track tape drive, three 5 foot racks of equipment containing the Raytheon RDS-500 computer, its 64 Kilobytes of memory, and a large sized, teeny-tiny capacity, hard drive as well as some specialized interface equipment for video conversion and analog data tape control.
This is only one end of the long computer lab. The other end of the lab contained my desk/office in one corner, two 7 foot cabinets for storage of computer manuals, a keypunch machine, and the other "U" shaped computer bay containing a Raytheon 706 mini-computer, a Gould electrostatic graphic printer, a KSR-35 teletype, another Tektronics 4012 graphic storage display, and another line printer. (computers didn't talk to each other back then).
Also in the lab was a long row of 7 foot equipment racks for interfacing remote measurement data input lines from around the space center to the large bank of analog data recorders in the next room. And way in the back of the room was a work bench where we would tear into new or misbehaving equipment trying to make them behave.
This is how I did 2D & 3D graphics & animation in the mid to late '70s
And "yes", it was mine, all mine, <bua-ha-ha>. 
None of the other 5 people who worked in the room knew anything about computers. They were either technicians or analog data people or NASA managers.
Our two rooms were dedicated to "Special Measurements" not active launch control. We handled experimental data collection and data processing like electric field measurement, lightning detection and prediction, analysis of radar dispersion patterns for the shuttle runway landing radar, stress analysis during construction of the giant electronic plug in the shuttle's "Tail Service Mast (TSM)" that would get pulled out just a second before the shuttle took off. The big launch computers were on the same floor in the center of the building but I don't even think I was in there more than a couple times in 5 years. That's OK, their job was handled by a big team of programmers and it was all "by the book" scripted to the last detail stuff. I got to play and be creative and do the interesting work. It was a fun time in my life.
To this day, everytime I see a film of a shuttle launch I watch carefully to see if I can spot the plug being pulled. 
I sometimes wonder where I would have ended up had I stayed. (Probably promoted beyond my level of competence. The "Peter Principle" at work. )
And all that computing power fits on a smart phone now, right?

...ahh finally, a break in the heat. Now 69° in the hood when at this time last night it was 85°. Actually was able to cook dinner tonight. Two days of relief ahead before it becomes sweltering again. Might actually get some 3D work done.
