whah makes a whiskey a whiskey and scotch a scotch?

The area you come from,  The main difference between scotch and whisky is geographic, but also ingredients and spellings. Scotch is whisky made in Scotland, while bourbon is whiskey made in the U.S.A, generally Kentucky. Scotch is made mostly from malted barley, while bourbon is distilled from corn.

What is special about Irish whiskey?

In Scotland, whisky made from 100% malted barley is typically double distilled in copper pot stills. When that product comes from a single distillery, it's known as a single malt. ... An Irish single pot still whiskey is made from a combination of malted and unmalted barley.

And, if you are interested, in this article there are some fascinating facts about Whisky/whiskey including the fact  that a welsh man started whiskey production to American and thus founded the bourbon industry  and a Brwer supposedly run over by hos own horse and cart while out delivering.

...was simply beautiful outside today air smelled so clean after a brief shower.

Went to the market to get a few things for the next week (mostly sandwich stuff as it's going to be hot hot hot again next week and I don't want to heat up the flat by cooking). However, tonight while it's nice and cool I have the chance to make my Cajun seasoned redfish, roasted red potatoes, and buttered baby carrots.

Here it's that time of year again when the morning fog appears.  This morning I can hardly see across the street out my front door. surprise  I used to complain when the fogs came because it usually happened on a morning I'd promised to drive our little group of grumpy old men to our weekly breakfast in the next town over.  But our little group has either moved away, died or just gotten tired of breakfast.  So, fog doesn't bother me anymore. indecision

Non-Complaint:  It's also that time of year for watermelon.  I've been pigging out on watermelon for a few weeks already, but now the yellow watermelon are here!  Mmmm, yum! Yellow watermelon. (*said in my best Homer Simpson voice. *)

I woke up this morning surrounded by low flying clouds,   I guess they are not a lot different to fog really, except maybe a tad damper.

Does watermelon have any real flavour?

Yes it does!  It's very sweet, and refreshing on a hot day.  Closer the the rind, it gets kind of bitter, though.

What the hell is a yellow watermelon. Never heard of them. I don't think I've ever seen one in the store. Is it just the skin that is yellow or in the meat yellow

By LG's description, it's a far sight better than yellow snow!   laugh

Yeah I've never seen one of them in any store i go to.

Me, neither.  Maybe most people around here would be afraid of it or think it's fake.  It could be an extremely regional thing, I suppose.

    Very tediously. devil

Actually the seeds are edible (as is the rind, yuck!).  Adds fibre to your diet. indecision  Otherwise, an expert watermelon eater squooshes them out with their tongue, and expels them with precise aim discretely back into the bowl or onto the nearest grassy lawn, ashtray, bin, open window, bag, or whatever...  But with modern "seedless" watermelons the seed problem is mostly moot. indecision  Although I still worry about where baby seedless watermelons come from. surprise  When civilization collapses, then seedless watermelon and hybrid sweet corn will go the way of the dodo. sad

It is my understanding that seedless watermelon is not as sweet as the seeded kind.  That's what we get for trying to improve on mother nature!

When I take the seeds out of melon I save them and feed them to the wild birds.  I think it is the jackdaws that eat most of them, sometimes the collared doves.

Non-complaint:  Ah, finally, I've dug myself out of the pile of photos and albumized the interesting ones into two storage boxes of albums.  And I've packed all the other miscellaneous loose photos into various categories in labeled manila envelopes in another storage box.  All done except for one large, colorized, b/w professional baby picture, from 1949, of me laying on my tummy with my head lifted up and a stupid grin on my face. frown No, I'm not naked but I am wearing a cute little striped shirt and baby overalls.  The photo is in perfect condition because it been in its original nice protective cardboard mailing box for 69 years (it cost 17 cents to send it).  It's just slightly larger than my albums or my storage boxes.  What to do?  What to do?  God forbid I should throw it away, or worse yet, frame it! surprise

'Nother non-complaint:  After sorting my boxes of photos I've found all the photos from my big motorcycle trip around the US, Canada and Australia back in '95.  I also have the journal I kept during the trip and I still have some of my memories.  So, perhaps it's time for me to actually write the book I've been threatening to write for 23 years.  Or at least make a web page of it. enlightened Good timing because I'm so bored with TV.  How can we have nearly 100 years of film and video at our fingertips and so little worth watching once, much less again.  frown

    ...late night 'plaint.

OI really  hate it when some people insist they need to stand in and block the rear exit doorway when there are empty seats to sit in, thus forcing others to squeeze around them.to get off. Often times these "door blockers" also are wearing a backpack which makes it all the more difficult to get around them as most of the time, they will not move out of the doorway.

I gave up on the major TV channel pushers a couple years ago.  I've also given up on Hulu and now I'm about to give up on NetFlix.  I do most of my watching from YouTube.  YouTube is almost good at suggesting to me shows & clips I want to watch, but I just wish there was a way to tell YouTube to NEVER, EVER suggest to me shows or authors I've learned to hate.  I want an UNLIKE button for YouTube! enlightened

Complaint:  Don't you just hate it when you're driving and get stuck behind drivers that believe their car will explode if it reaches the speed limit, so they play it safe and drive 7 or 8 mph under it? frown

Or the drivers on city streets who want to turn left (in the US) on a road with a middle turning lane and don't use it?  Or worse yet, start to use it but leave their back end sticking out into the travel lane so far that you have to swerve around them or even stop until they make their turn?  angry

Or the drivers in big store parking lots who think it's safe to talk on the phone while driving at street speeds as they negotiate long  blind alleys of cars, any one of which could instantly decide to back out into their path. no

Contrary to what I was told as a youngun, swallowing the seeds will not make watermelons grow in your stomach.  Nor do they make you pregnant, as in "she swallowed a watermelon."  Watermelon rind pickles are delicious, but the rind must be thick, not thin.
