I for one love the new look and the auto logon thing but there are def some bugs to iron out!
Hahaha wonderful!
Thanks for not being able to say either way nor everywhere, this and the new Display ALL option make my day.
Cheers
Well, I just bought all of today's freebies, plus one low cost item. It all worked for me, including the forwarding to PayPal and coming back to Daz. I do with the Wishlist had more controls. I don't have a large number of wishlist items, but I appreciate what some people are going through with this.
One helpful thing I can point out is that, in FireFox, if you do a Ctrl-F search for the percent sign %, you can jump forward to any wishlist item that has a discount on it. Many items are currently on 30% discount.
...yeah the search function is pretty useless. Just typed in Aiko 3 and the first item that shows under "People and Wearables" is a character for Aiko6. The only remotely related item that appears (without having to scroll) are the Gen3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis. I had to scroll for a while to finally find the base Aiko 3 character and related packs (Morphs and Starter).
Only in the second to last category ("All") did I find the Aiko 3 Mega Bundle without having to scroll, but it was still the fourth item in the list, (the first was the V4 Unimesh Bundle followed by the Aiko 4 Pro Bundle). Again I had to scroll for a bit to find the A3 pro bundle.
I worked for a firm many years ago where accuracy of the search engine we developed was the #1 priority as we published medical journal libraries in CD-ROM format. The search engine had to be precise. Now, if a small startup like we were could accomplish this in the DOS days on 286s/386s, I don't see why it should be an issue today given the advancements in hardware and software.
...unless the software and scripting language being employed is incapable of supporting such a high degree of pinpoint accuracy.
As I mentioned in the "other" thread, this basically feels like a Reality/Lux render, which needed to cook a bit more as there still is too much "noise" obscuring the picture.
Greetings,
Just to note, there's actually a nice fallback in the sort-by code in the wishlist that can make it easy to include a sort-by-added-to-wishlist-date feature.
I'm thinking about retooling my Chrome extension and Greasemonkey script to tweak a few small things, until DAZ_* gets around to it.
No, it didn't. It's a long-standing bug, going back to when they added 'Purchased' detection to the new store. Bundles-in-bundles never worked. The worst example was the SuperSuit Suite, which had several levels of bundles inside of it.-- Morgan
I have to agree, it is WAY too BIG and harder to move around. The worst part is the wishlist. The list no longer loads anything unless you scroll over and it is SLOW to scroll and load. Then they took away the sort by adding, I had items I wanted more near the bottom/recently added. Now that is gone I have no way to organize except by name, price, or trending. Also the 2 columns (not to mention the images are too BIG)makes my eyes dart all over instead of just scrolling down the list. It is driving me nuts.
I was going to purchase a few items today, but the new list is driving me mad and I gave up.
I understand the update (one needs to once and a while) but PLEASE give the option to:
1. Change the image/design size
2. Revert to 1 column in the wishlist
3. Be able to load the whole page at once (and I am not talking about the ALL option, that is nice but it still doesn’t load the images unless you scroll over them and that is SLOW).
Oh the old main store filters were nice in a list on the left, now I am clicking and things are moving all over and I am scrolling like mad to go down the lists. Very annoying. And finally I am having problems finding programs like Hexagon, or Carrara in the listings. They use to be easy to find under the old products listing. Is Daz no longer going to sell/support these programs? Which is a little disconcerting since I just purchased Carrara. :/
Also I suggest not "hiding" things such as the shop, categories, etc or the wishlist under the account or the lines button. Those items people now have to hunt for and click twice to get to. For features used all the time, it is never good to have to play "hide and seek" to find (or once found clicking twice all the time to get back there). :/ Although this is minor compared to the mentioned size and wishlist issues.
Wish I knew about the beta for the website beforehand, somehow missed that or I would have been offering suggestions all along.
Morgan, I sure hope you can find time. I always LOVED your script.
YES YES YES
I'm mostly annoyed with the HUGE fonts. Means scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll if you´re on the phone or the pad. Fix that please!
Another thing, fastgrab may have lost its thrill some 6 months ago, but it feels a bit sad to see that it's apparently gone now.
...still there. there's link on the top scrolling banner.
As to scrolling ad nauseum, same for us on desktops and notebooks.
removed -- yep that about does it for me
I was having the same problem and was feeling extremely pessimistic about being able to search pre Gen 4 content. Then, someone pointed out that there is a searchbox IN the Figure dropdown. It's right at the top, just before the list of 'suggested' figures. So, to use your example, you want to find only products for Aiko 3, you just type it in the box that says "Enter Figure name..." just above where it says "Genesis 2 Female (####)".
Now, this isn't a true search engine, it just brings up matching options within the 'hidden list'. In some ways it's a bit like searching your Product Library, in that it only goes with exact matches. So, going back to your example, typing in "Aiko" would immediately give you the choice of "Aiko 4 (####)" or "Aiko 3 (####)". Why no Aiko 5 or Aiko 6? Couldn't tell ya; but since I, like you, was really concerned with older content, my problem was (more or less) solved.
Hope that helps!
I'm getting errors on the purchased/non-purchased items. Especially with products that were part of the old build-a-bundle, make-your-own bundle, Generations series of bundles, short term PC anniversary bundles from past years as well as some of the products that were part of the added PC Anniversary gifts from 2006 or 2007
The product library search is messed up as well. Inactive products are not showing up reliably even when you put the correct product name in the search and hit filter. Other products I know I "purchased" as freebies are not showing up in Product Library or as purchased.
Greetings,
They've said a bunch of times that Fastgrab isn't going away, they just haven't found a good place for it yet. (For reference, it had the exact same doom-and-gloom reactions when it wasn't part of the LAST site update's initial version. :) )The underlying concept is, I believe, that fixed-width sites (like DAZ's store used to be) are not the right way to do things. It's not about following trends, it's about responsive design. For example, on my screen, the wishlist has *three* columns. That's because my browser window is wider than 1600 pixels. (It doesn't go to four above that, the individual slabs just grow in size a little.)
So instead of having a little 990 pixel wide centered block of content in the middle of a vast open amount of desktop browser space, it fluidly fills as much as it can with content. This is a good choice, and one that the web development community wholeheartedly has adopted, because it's proven itself, over and over and over.
It's not Windows 8-ish, it's been growing as capabilities improved along the entire range of devices, from handheld mobile through tablets, netbooks, laptops, desktops, and TV-style leanback browsing. Long dead are the days when a 'm.daz3d.com' was the answer for mobile. You build one site that responds to the capabilities of the user's device. DAZ doesn't need polls asking how many folks are using the site from mobile (phone, tablet, netbook) devices. That information is reported directly to their logs, and they can pull that information up at a touch.
But again, the site isn't just about responsive for mobile, it's also responsive for larger screens.
It'll evolve. Remember how we didn't even have 'Purchased' identification when the new store started up? That got added, and things will improve here as well.

I had posted:
One thing I want to point out that Cypherfox and I noted this evening- on the PC sale page, once you buy an item, it disappears. There is no “hide what I own” option. This can be really bad if you want to buy a texture set and are curious as to whether you own the outfit. I would really like to see sales pages follow the same format as the other “hide what I own” pages.
And Tjohn pointed out to me (thank you!) that when you click on the textures and go to the product page, it will tell you if you own the required product. And sometimes textures aren't released the same day anyway so the product wouldn't necessarily be right next to them even if they did show up.
...still, it would be nice to see the breakdown.
It just appears these changes are still geared more for those with handheld devices rather than desktop/notebook users with the move to the scrolling banner format in place of the drop down menus and sidebars.
The search function is much worse than the previous one. If anything, it is major downgrade as it requires more steps to achieve the same results as the previous model did. The whole idea of a site upgrade should be to enhance a user's Net experience. This so far seems to be doing the opposite for many.
Kind of makes me nervous about what is going to happen to the Forums.
Whatever you boys and girls at Daz have planned for the site, please please PLEASE bring back the drop downs for the forums at the very least. Having to always go back to the 'root' page just to branch off to Daz/Members/New Users forums feels like a step backwards from the previous site.
Second time this has happened on checkout - the cart is failing on simple math. The price is correct, the discount is correct - so why is the grand total wrong?
More cart weirdness. I wanted to test if I could purchase a second copy of a product. One, if you click on the little cloud icon in the corner, you end up in your product library. You then have to go the product page from your product library. If you click the red purchased box, you get the item has been added to cart pop up. The pop up stated there was one item in the cart (the item I had just added). However, I knew there were already three other items in the cart.
The cart icon at the top of the page also indicated one item as opposed to 4 items. Not the biggest issue around but there is no reason for the cart not to be accurate. It did reflect the correct number of items in the cart only after I went to the cart page.
Happened to me the other day. Just refresh the page and the amount SHOULD be there.
...wonderful. Just went to the workstation to make a purchase (as the notebook is still running XP) and the username/password field will not populate even though FF has them memorised. I don't remember my password (which is why I have FF remember it for me) and I'm not going to potentially hose everything by attempting to change it.
So much for buying anything today.
Didn't have this issue with the former site.

Except that it did.
Few weeks ago I bought Hiro 3 and Aiko 3 mega bundles, which included the starter bundles. I had not previously purchased the starter bundles. Whenever I checked the pages for the starter bundles, they did in fact show up as 'purchased'. Now they do not.
Nitpicking, I know, but that is the fact. However, I noticed that those mega bundles no longer show the starter bundle as part of it.
...OK found a workaround. Went to the Tools menu in FF, selected "Options" then "Saved Passwords" in the security tab, clicked on the one for the Daz site, clicked on "copy password". pasted into the field and it took it. Had to re-save it in FF though so I don't have to go through this again (hopefully).
I don't actually see the starter pack in the Aiko 3 megabundle (it is in the 'Pro' bundle) which might be part of the problem; all the starter pack products are there, but not the starter pack itself (unlike the Pro bundle). It's possible the Megabundle got its embedded SKU list changed at some point, and maybe it was working. No idea. But all of the Pro bundles for all the Genesis characters have had this problem all along.
I guess what I'm saying is that it's not a store changeover problem, as much as a something-else-changed problem, if those stopped working. I'd love it if they fixed all of them 'at once', but...yeah.
My favorite solution is to mark a bundle as 'Purchased' if you own all the items in it already. See, that would kick butt, because it would solve ALL the problems, including ones where we purchased items piecemeal...

The problem is there are bundles which have files associated to the bundle itself, so it isn't just a shell to include other products. There isn't a good way in the database to distinguish between those older bundles that do that and newer ones which tend not to. So, until we solve that, we can't show bundles which weren't directly purchased as being purchased.
Apologies if this has already been asked, how do you filter out the shop by software? (Poser, DazStudio, Carerra etc)
Do you mean which items are compatible with a particular software package, or do you mean the software itself? If you go to the "All" category and type in Bryce in the search box, it shows items in categories compatible with that package. Searching for Carrera does not seem to help. If you're looking for software packages, that seems to be more difficult. Shaders and plugins are considered software, so they get lumped in with the programs that use them. Sorting by price doesn't help. Sort one way, you get the free software (Studio), and the other way, all you see are game developer licenses...
I'm referring to searching by the software the item is compatible with, I use Poser myself so I am uninterested in Daz Studio items.
A filter for items compatible with Poser would be appreciated. Even though I spend nothing like what I used to here, I still occasionally find a poser compatible item I want. Items including native Poser formats are greatly appreciated.
Can I highlight this question and ask it again - several pages ago and no answer yet?

Most of the products have the templates in your product library for the item, but a number of older products didn't get caught in the big update for them. We'll be updating that shortly and they will show up in the product library for the product.
