@cybersox There is renderhub. IDK how competitive they are, but nice enough site. Even with weirdness, Daz has the most seductive shopping experience. I've found over time, there are only a few days a month where I really want to buy something (holiday season notwithstanding). Daz gets the bulk of my content $$.

Renderhub has some nice things, but I really put them in the same market share group as Turbosquid, given that only a tiny portion of their store (five pages out of 360) is aimed at the DAZ market, and much of that content is sold by the same vendors on the four sites I listed.

But the 20% off gift cards sale is timely and welcome, so kudos to DAZ for that one.

(Are we allowed to mention good things in this thread, or is it entirely for things gone wrong?)

If you combine with the free HDRI offer, you can get 36% off the g.c., I believe....

To be fair, they don't say whose day they're going by in the PC+ for a day...a day on Mercury is a little less than 59 earth-days long. cheeky

The Coupon Code HIGH-FIVE displayed in the banner ad is incorrect and doesn't work. However, using the plural, i.e. HIGH-FIVES, will work

The correct outfit should be https://www.daz3d.com/eleia-outfit-for-genesis-8-females

The coupon code we were given is plural. Thanks, Charlie. We'll report.

Yeah, I couldn't bring to mind the outfit from which the textures came. We did report, however.

I click the link for the products supposedly covered by the Flash Sale, on the main screen, which appeared to be all the products for sale in the store I don't currently own. I put 4 products that were new in my cart, tried each of the codes and all came up with 'not a valid code' even the 'HIGH-FIVES'. So I have dumped all the items from my cart except for the ROW Red Crow Inn and an older item. I am not sure if there is a mystery spell I have to say over the shopping cart page to get the codes to work.

What do you have in your cart?

Rog red and two items from the Stack up sale.

ok... works if you only have stack up items in your cart...

What does that mean? The banner links to all the items in the store, and the text only excludes gift cards and memberships. So what else can you have in the cart, other than stack up items? :-o

That's because that particular coupon code is limited to 2 and only 2 items in your cart.

I'm probably missing something again. Buy 4 or more items to get the 15% off. But usable only once per customer. Why? Is there a limit of items somewhere again that I'm not seeing? Why limit the number of uses if you can buy any number of items? Why does it have to be 200 items in one cart, and not twice 100?

Argh, I misread that and only put 4 items in the cart when I used the coupon. Oh well.

I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing; After the massive December sales, why would I then be attracted to buy a non-new item at only 15% off?

That would make sense. I haven't tried if it actually works with more items, but it says "4 or more."

Not 15% off total, but an additional 15% off. If, without this discount, it's currently at 60% off, then you add this 15% to it, making it 66% off.

Not all sales are created equal. A lot of the time, it's okay to lay around and wait for the best possible price. But sometimes, you have a reason to buy something right now, and you pay whatever you have to pay. I don't imagine the big-spenders care. They buy whatever whenever without a second thought.

I can't speak for anyone else for certain, but it's usually quite the opposite in my case.  If the deal isn't good enough to suit my tastes, I'll generally pass on something even if I really want it, as experience has shown that everything except a handful of vendors goes on sale in the 50-60% off range on a regular basis once it's no longer a "new" item.  The primary exception to that is if it's a product type that I specifically want to encourage a PA to keep producing.  On the other hand, I've gotten quite good at playing DAZ Discount Jenga, and the end goal is really about the averaged overall price/discount rather than on each individual item.

@Cybersox, I'm with you on all that. But you know Daz customers include Marvel film studios. I could be wrong, but I don't think they care what they spend on Daz assets!

Actually, I use DAZ for PreViz as do many of the contractors to Marvel/Disney, and while the House of Mouse may be fine with spending more on free snacks on set per day than most people spend on food in a year, most of the effects contractors budgets are incredibly tight given the nature of the bidding process and the need for those bids to include cover major redos for what often seem like arbitary whims at no extra charge.  It's not uncommon for an effects house to come out of a major motion picture having lost money, so most of the ones who last are squeezing every penny they can.  Not to mention that most Hollywood studios are so paranoid about maintaining a clear chain of title on any IP that they're wary of usng anything visually distinctive that isn't created in-house or under contract, not to mention that most assets used aren't going to be covered under the standard DAZ TOS (due to the need to swap assets between multiple artists, workstations and vendors) and probably won't be purchased via the regular storefront sales venue anyway.

Today's sale seems to be the worst in I can't remember how long.

Most of the items that will get discounts are now at full price, which makes no sens as some of them are really old.

It's probably because they fear with the coupons the discounts will be too much but still....

@Cybersox Thanks for the clarifications. Very interesting! :) I read stories about studios spending thousands and thousands of dollars on assets that don't even get on screen. So, this is an enlightening counterpoint to all that.

It's both the store and sales page ad thumbnails that are incorrect on this.  Also, the sale specific, new release and regular PC+ discount are all not currently applied to both outfit and texture.
