Well at least they are not being bought out by DAZ, ...

    Who knows?

At some point I'm pretty sure he mentioned he was, though who knows -- sometimes plans change.

If I recall it was mentioned by both DAZ and the PA back in September of last year, so it has already been a long wait, and we can only guess how much longer they will be, if they ever do arrive.

If you follow the link in the first post you will know.

I will be excited to see the gorgeous Hivewire animals get more exposure over here. And I agree, I'd prefer to just use DIM to download them from the DAZ store.

And they have a bunch more models worked up and ready for texturing. ( Lot's of dogs and dog breeds) There are some great threads you can check out on their forum where Chris shows works in process and listens to people's feedback, often making alterations and morphs just because someone asked for it in the thread. (I'm guessing I can post that as they will be coming over here once they are made)

I can just see Timmins over there asking for an eight legged horse... :  )

Perhaps. Just checked HW and Daz - the cougar base price is identical. It's all a matter of how the discounts add up. Daz sales can give deeper discounts than HW.

HW reward points give a discount every time, so there is the potential for deeper discounts than the $6.00 coupon - which can't be used on new products whereas the HW reward points can. I'd be curious to see how the Daz bundle prices compare to the HW stacks.

As a side note, I had gotten a refund for a product at HW, and the utility that adjusts the reward points got stuck in a loop for three days. Because of other purchases, each adjustment increased my end balance, so the points kept adding up. It was driving me crazy with notification emails clogging my inbox so I called them to stop it. I started with 2000 points and now have 22,000. Too bad they limit the number or points you can use with each purchase - which is probably why they never adjusted my balance down.

Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this. :/

No, I do know how I feel about this. I don't like it one bit. Not at all. I'd rather have multiple options for the content I purchase instead of one enormous conglomerate who has no competition and can set the prices however they wish, and can limit the available options.

I... have to agree with this. So long as it's just the animals (sans the birds) that are coming over and not Daz absorbing the entire store, I guess I'm okay with this. Competition can be a good and healthy thing for everyone for a variety of reasons, so I really hope this isn't some precursor to HW3D going the way of RDNA in a year's time. (Especially since some vendors just up and vanished into the ether after the merger, opting not to vend at any of the other sites, period)

But even once in a while, some "crossover" also can be a good thing if it ultimately means the pool of items can be expanded for some figures that sorely need them (i.e. Dawn/Dusk/Luna also being sold over at Rendo in addition to HW's store). Looking forward to the HW3D Dog, at least... being a dog person and all, lmao.

The HW Big Cat works well with Genesis 8.

Do the add-ons have bumps? None are listed, I don't know if they plain lack them or use those from the base.

I'm so old, I remember when HiveWire started up as an ALTERNATIVE to Daz.   Oh well, if it means we'll finally get a new dog, since Daz doesn't seem to want to do it, I'm all for it.

After reading the announcement, one of the things I'm not crazy about is the fact that if you have already purchased at HW, your purchases aren't won't be reflected here.  There is a slight chance of accidentally purchasing again as the DAZ store won't have a way of knowing you already own it.  Not that I own that many but it would be more convenient if there were a way of fixing that one small issue.

I agree I'd like to have my HW purchases in my account here when the product is moved if it was at all possible.

I do hope this works out well for all parties involved.  It certainly opens up a large audience of buyers for the Hivewire animals, and I wish everyone on both sides success with the new venture!

Plus #1 on this. I've bought so much content and there is so much more content that I've longed for over the beginnings of 3D content. It is impossible for this human mind to remember what, where and if, I have already purchased a certain product. We are talking terrabytes spread over 3 hard drives. I've caught myself buying duplicate items even from the same store such as a character that was already purchased within a bundle. Of course, it was several months later so getting refunded was out of the question. Please find a way to alert our accounts that we have or may have purchased these products from other stores!

@bohlien, that looks great.  I take it you can scale the cat up and make it very large.  Does anyone know if the Daz Big Cat 2 has a cub morph?

Is that the base or the add-ons (the Cougar and the Black Panther)?

Never saw a cub morph for the DAZ BigCat 2. Some people scaled it down to use as cubs, and probably tweaked the porportions. But there was no actual cub morph. There never was a cub morph for the MilBigCat either.

If you notice the coat texture where it says black panther in the image RAM posted is the add on,  the other images I think are from the base. The others are either marked Big Cat or Leopard

Oh and on that note the HiveWire Housecat poses will work on the cub morph and big cat as well with a few minor adjustments, and Pommerlis does some great ones!

Ah, so they use the bump from the base - thanks, I thought that might be it but having had horse textures from thata rtist without any bump before it was worth checking.

I checked and couldn't find a cub morph for big cat 2.

I bought the HW big cat some weeks ago before it "came over" and really like the morphs of the character.

One of the reasons for trying it out was that I couldn't get the DAZ Big Cat 2 to work together with Iray and LAMH.

Glad that we could help you!

Hope to see some renders of the horse if you have him and/or the cat if you have him too.

Yes Richard. Of course the HW3D animals utlilize diffuse, bump, spec, normal and transparency maps; and even translucency maps where appropriate. My Mil Horse Textures were done in 2009- a looooong time ago. A lot has changed since then.

Thanks for confirming - that's a familiar looking cat...

Tis the base.  I think it's reused for the other add ons, If you notice that the panther map is in that same folder....

This may seem like a stupid question to ask, but what is the oldest version of Poser that the animals will work in?  I only use Poser as a plug-in to get stuff into Bryce.

Can't answer that one hon.  I know that the Hive keeps things updated... right now us published artists just got notice that all new products submitted are only tested in DS 4.9 so I guess it would be Poser 11 for that side of things but the animales I think work in a few versions back of Poser..... you could buy and try and then return if it doesn't work out I guess...

Hey Cho, the earliest version of Poser the HiveWire Cats are compatible with is Poser 10, and of course, later versions.
