I will be excited to see the gorgeous Hivewire animals get more exposure over here. And I agree, I'd prefer to just use DIM to download them from the DAZ store.

And they have a bunch more models worked up and ready for texturing. ( Lot's of dogs and dog breeds) There are some great threads you can check out on their forum where Chris shows works in process and listens to people's feedback, often making alterations and morphs just because someone asked for it in the thread. (I'm guessing I can post that as they will be coming over here once they are made)

I can just see Timmins over there asking for an eight legged horse... :  )

Daz store has needed practical animals for some time i.e. Cat and dog in particular.. I can't say however that hivewire's house cat strikes me as realistic though it still has shades of milenium cat in the way it looks. But good. Glad people will have a little more modern feline.

The thing that mildly bugs me about the house cat (and the big cat) is that on loading, the toes are spread and the paws look stiff and as if the cat is even more on tiptoe than is actually natural for a cat (I say with one of my real life fur buddies about to fall off the back of the couch and onto my head... again... because she's fast asleep), and not all poses correct this, so I have to manually fix them, which adds time, because I havne't noticed any quick way to fix this (pose controls, correction poses, etc.)

My big issue with that is that the retractable claws always load out so I have a pose preset I apply to the model once I load it that fixes them and they are retracted. Have you tried saving a pose preset you just apply once you have it to your liking?  That would save time from having to manually do it every time.

No, but only because I don't do a lot of renders that call for cats, so I haven't needed to use them frequently enough for it to be an *actual* annoyance, just a minor one. :)  If I need to use the cats more, I'll probably come up with one. :)

Yes, I can't wait for the dog actually since I'd probably use that more than a cat (and this is coming from a crazy cat lady! LOL).

I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what AM makes; I think HW is MAYBE slightly better than Daz (cats, horses), but not, liberally in my opinion, a very significant amount.

I tend not to buy hivewire content. the zips can be unwieldy and difficult to use particularly with  birds with their complicated file structures and lack of complete presets. I have several sets and they are often cumbersome to load apply and get right I don't want to apply morphs and topknots. Those should load with the animal but each critter has different textures and shapes I need to apply just to get what I buy to work. No thanks..

I think the move to daz will at least make the few vended here easier for daz users since at least the installer issue won't be a problem. I don't want to download 6 installers for one animal and then recombine that so I can use it in dim.

The other animal structures are pretty straight forward. Ken's birds are unwieldly because there were originally set up for poser when they were sold at Daz.

I don't think HW horse is slightly better, I know its HEAPS better. I have ALL the horse products and I only use the HW one. It is so much easier to pose etc (once you realise the horse needs to be selected to pose the mane/tail/fetlocks).

And while I like AM's products, the ones I have seem a little out dated now compared to the HW3D ones. HW animals (both the big and house cat) bends so much better and the paws are more realistic (even if I don't like the default paw option, I think that should have been fixed since cats don't often have them spread with claws out, but I can live with that because the MOVE realistically).  On my wishlist would be for AM to do LAMH add-ons for the HW animals.

Cool!! =) I'm rather the reverse! LOL I like using the animals more than people sometimes!! I have my phases I suppose! =)

The dog/wolf is pretty nice! You have your Chihuahua morph , a Boxer and Lab, but also your Boarder Collie type morph which is more towards the wolf range. Man if Alessandro gets a hold of the cat and or dog I would love to see what that looks like!!

Yeah, I guess going through the directory trees can be a bit of a chore, but I've done it so much for texturing it just comes 2nd nature. I rarely use the DIM.

CWRW also has a wonderful tutorial on how to pose the mane on her blog site! Very useful!!

If it makes it easier to use their content, then I'm all for it. I find I tend to collect  stuff from other places more than I render it because of all the extra steps involved. Yes, I know, it's not that much extra work for one of two items to download, organize and install it (then try to find it.) But DIM has spoiled me, so has Smart Content, at least for newer items. We're all busy people, and the fewer steps there are between buying and rendering the items, the better.

That's why I've grown to love the Content Package Assistant. Although I wish it had come out a long time ago, I've got so many items from other sites I've been repacking them for DIM use for what seems like years.

And that probably explains why DAZ hasn't done anything about MilDog and MilCat.

I was thinking something similar.  :)

The HW3D Kitty is just wonderful as is there Big Cat.  So here we go. A bridge many of us have been wishing for.  Hopefully it's a sucess!  heart

Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this. :/

No, I do know how I feel about this. I don't like it one bit. Not at all. I'd rather have multiple options for the content I purchase instead of one enormous conglomerate who has no competition and can set the prices however they wish, and can limit the available options.

HiveWire will still exist, the Forum and the store, its the HW Animals that are coming to the Daz store HiveWire isn't closing down.

I'm hopeing that the Cats will see some extra morphs etc being produced by the talent here, I would love to see what Raw can come up with for the Big Cat.

Correct.  Dawn, Dusk and Luna, environments, add ons and all that will remain being sold at the Hive.  Just the ORIGINAL ANIMALS, that's it unless a published artist there decides to bring their add ons here that directly or indirectly support the animals.  That's all.  SO no freaking out about DAZ buying the Hive or anything like that.. .let it go folks.

I think the paw spread was left over when they were creating the MAPS for the cat and perhaps forgot to put the figures paws in a more relaxed position!  lol  I wonder if that's the same for the Hive Big Cat?

As a person who has had housecats all my life, there is something "off" with the HW Housecat and I never bought it. I'll likely stick to the Millennium Cat with LAMH fur for now. I do however LOVE Harry the horse :)

My biggest problem with the HW house cat and big cats is lack of fur (unless that has changed recently). As a consequence they only look okay in distant renders, in which case I might as well use the older models.

I'm kind of neutral about the whole deal. I wasn't too keen on the quality of a lot of runtime DNA  content when that store was absorbed by Daz store. Likewise I am not terribly excited about the cat and the horse. So far no horse I've seen really has working tack and reins something I really want with a horse. That said I own the horse already. Hivewire cat is really smooth looking and doesn't have the realism I'm looking for to match the figures. To me it looks a bit cartoony and dated. I didn't buy it when it was released and am unsure I'll be picking it up unless I get a deal on it.

Yeah, for me, the HW cat may be superior to MilCat, but MilCat + LAMH preset is far superior to HW cat

That is exactly why I don't use DIM or smart content, I don't want to become dependant on it and I like using content from many other places, so it makes more sense to me to install everything manually so I know where everything is. I personally don't find it all that inconvienant

Its never stopped me from purchasing elswhere either.  Its actually very easy to do and while I like DIM I can drag and drop content into the correct folders faster than it takes DIM to fire up and find my new content....

Well with the HW Big Cat and HW Kitten coming here, it's always possible LAMH presets will be created for them.  wink

Well dunno about that, have you seen the HW cat with LAMH? It looks pretty sweet! There are a few images in the HW forums with it, and some of the Vue images are incredible!

Hoping the Poser support guaranteed over at HW continues here at DAZ.

    That's what I'm hoping for.

I've had my eyes on these for a while, especially the cat/kitten, but I've only bought a handful of items from Hivewire.  If they get DAZ-saled, though, I'll probably pick them all up fairly quickly.

I created a new directory for non-daz products way back when. I don't have a lot of it, so it's easy to find via the content library. Drag and drop to install...

I bought both cats when they were released, and have all the materials for them. The tuxedo sounds great. I hope the materials includes a true black cat, too. The panther just doesn't quite work as a black house cat. Guess I should go find that thread at HW... Got the horse stack around the first of the year. Their dog will be an instant buy, too.

..same here.  I thought that back on the other "cat" thread it was mentioned that AM was going to release a cat figure.

At some point I'm pretty sure he mentioned he was, though who knows -- sometimes plans change.

Hivewire Big Cat, with Cougar and Cub morphs and black Panther texture add-on are in the store now. The panther page his missing its proper text (it duplicates the cougar text) but that will probably get fixed soon enough.

CWRW has done several with the furry hair and VortigensBane, but Tiny was working on fluffy versions of the HW house cat/ big cats and gorilla. Sort of a Persian variety and the short hair.
