It's a good practice to check your statement after each purchase. I've had a similar issue once, and I remember that I actually authorized the correct, smaller amount at PayPal, and then boom, they charged the higher amount. Of course, customer support took care of it very quickly, but I always check my PayPal statements ever since then, right after each purchase. And just to be safe, I do the same even when I'm spending store credit -- just to make sure that the correct amount was deducted, and nothing more.

  • Yup. I always mean to, and always forget to. I think I've had it happen before where I didn't get the discounted price and I missed it and didn't see it until much, much later.

Part of it is the way that the various discount receipts mess with the actual prices and discount prices... it is hard, sometimes, after the purchase, to see if you really got the discounts you saw in the cart. I dislike that about DAZ's invoicing. The order in my profile doesn't match the e-mail I get from DAZ which doesn't match the e-mail I get from PayPal, it seems.

And after you've made a purchase, it is almost impossible to go back and see what it should have been, without just rebuilding that entire cart again.

But yes, it is a good practice to double check your paid invoice against what you thought you were going to pay.

I always do a duplicate tab of the cart out of habit, because I often discuss the sale prices in my Art Studio thread. That also makes it handy to have a backup in case the checkout goes wrong.  Things go smoothly, just close the window.  wink

That's a good idea. I usually just press printscreen before checking out, so I can quickly save it if needed, but leaving the cart open in a tab is an even better idea.

  • I think a little of both is a good idea. I didn't notice this right away... I would have already probably closed the second tab. You almost need a checklist...

A good rule of thumb is to take a screen shot of your cart before you check out completely. If something goes wrong with the payment you have something to show customer service as for the amount that you were supposed to be charged. Things will go faster and smoother that way. :) I have a "Daz Purchases" folder where I keep a screen shot of each of my purchases and label them each with the date of purchase. It also helps you keep track of how much you've spent and what you've purchased.

Very much agreed — I've never been able to understand why anyone at DAZ ever considered this to be "working properly". I'm fairly sure I can mostly trust the final total to be within a penny or two of correct (assuming any current sales haven't gone all wahoonie-shaped) but the item- and sub-totals have always been an impenetrable mess of hidden calculations.

I often open multiple 4-6 or more checkout carts, depending on the size (items count) of the cart. I have been known to have several dozen and at times over 100 items in a cart and because glitches happen in a heartbeat, if you have several carts at different time frames, it helps identify triggers and issues. Withoot  screenshots multiple carta are useless. The help desk actually uses your screenshots to reinact and troubleshoot your tainted experience and they do make things right if a glitch occurred. If you bail out of an error and refrain from buying, you lose because you do not have evidence of purchasing a product at a higher price than offered. I don't wait for Daz to fix the issue, I buy and trust Daz to make it right. And they always do. Daz honors (honours)  it's offers providing you have evidence the offer actually existed at a  point in time.

Here's something to keep in mind: Sometimes the total will show up in the cart correctly with all the discounts, but one or more of the individual items will not have all the discounts applied. If and when that's the case, refresh your cart before checking out. The software will use the price shown with each individual item in checkout, (probably set as a cookie when you load the cart page,) and if it's wrong on the cart page, it will be wrong on the checkout page.

The Daz Deals plugin shows the percentages an item is discounted, as well as the percentage the total is discounted, making the discrepency easy to see. If you don't already have the plugin, I can highly recommend it.

That is really useful to know! I've spotted this "error" several times in my cart and I always hit refresh just to make sure I'm seeing the right nunmbers. But I had no idea this could have an actual effect on the price paid.

And dont forget the catchup sales.  The past few years there have been weekend catchups.  Not sure if they will do that this year but you can bet there will be a store wide PA catchup sale at the end of the month

I spent a lot last year too, but can't afford to do so now. And don't need nearly as much. So I'm holding off until the catch up sales as best I can. Like others, I definitely blew plenty of money that could have gone to other things. That said, I'm happy with my purchases and my runtime. Half the time I can't find what I've bought, and adding to the problem by buying more doesn't help. There have already been a lot of great new releases. I'm wishlisting my favs and will definitely buy as soon as I can.

I've installed that, it's just great ! All those functionalities were really missing. Thanks a bunch !

Damn. Just as I say I'm not going to purchase more, some PAs I love that almost never go on sale are. I love IgnisSerpentis but her (I think "her") products are always so expensive. And then I have to add a new product I don't really need to get some older products prices down, and so the cart Jenga starts again...

  • Well, Wonderland, I suppose it all depends on the price of the items you want and if 20% off justify adding a New Release, or 2 for the extra 10%. Maths are your friend here ! wink

When I removed the one new release from my cart, my cart went up in price, so I'm actually getting the new item free. There are no other new items I want, although the free car would be nice but pointless to get something I don't want or need just to get a free car. It doesn't lower the total and probably wouldn't let me use the PC coupon if I had a free item in the cart...

There's a staggering amount of stuff in her products, though. That new outfit has hair and poses, plus it's completely customizable. She has an hour long video of all the different things you can do with it. The materials and presets are pretty incredible. Like getting several outfits in one. The only other PA I know who does a lot of this is Arki. Very versatile sets, that often go with other stuff those PAs create.

I'm with you on the free car.

All those models are old, the highest SKU in his catalog is 4396. With a bit of work, I know they'll look really good in Iray, but I'm not going to buy two new releases just to qualify for one free car. That's not to disparage the models, I have the 1961 AM Roadster (a '61 Corvette!) and there are a lot of bones and surfaces. Very well done, just in need of updating to duf and Iray. If your cart qualifies anyway, definitely get one of these models. I'm just saying there aren't two qualifying items that fall into my sweet spot of desirability and cost.

Try logging out and back in.

    Still seeing yesterday's page

*goes on with trying to break the F5 button*

  • Yeah - logging out and in didn't work for me either.  No worries, I'm sure it'll show up eventually.

    ctrl-F5 for ultimate refresh.

  • Looks like the site hasn't finished switching over for everyone.

I know, she has amazing products but wish she would create smaller packs instead of huge expensive ones. I would rather purchase in small affordable doses than one big expensive chunk. I ended up getting some older packs I've had on my wishlist and will wait till the newer products go on deeper sales, hopefully some day. If she had the packs separated in smaller chunks, I definitely would have picked those as my debut items.

  • My default web browser Chrome still shows yesterday sale, Firefox shows today sale. And wow, Raiya + OTT again, great bundle again! laugh

  • Works for me now - some cool stuff today, but wishlisted rather than bought due to budget.
