I've been lurking in the various iterations of this thread for a long time and have learned a lot.  I think that I need comments to move on.  So here is my first Iray post.  I have been trying to make a young teen for quite a while and never had a result I to be satisfied with.  I find they look younger in the viewport than in the rendered image. This is finally getting closer. There are varying degrees of the heads of several models together with Young-Teen from Growing Up as well as FaceYoung. All followed by some tweeks.

The  camera has headlamp off and the lighting is just the default background image.

...very well done.  Love the freckled skin. She definitely has that youthful look.

I've spent a lot of time since the Gen4 days trying to perfect younger characters for my story and I am very impressed with this.

I've been so productive at finishing renders this week! I have a new favorite character and I've been inspired. I love her face so much.

Also the texture that came with V6 HD remains one of my favorites of all time

and if you're wondering the dress was made made and draped in blender

Oh hi Donna, been a while :)

Wow. totally unintentional but I see it. I was designing the character after vague recolections of 30s actresses. I really like this sort of cheek and jaw shape, espectially because so few characters tend to have it,

Yours looks a bit more adult, like this maybe. If she hadn't pumped up her lips and god knows what maybe.

the back view better without all the headlight glare

...I like the front view better, has a more dynamic look

    Thanks

I really like how with iray you can make anything light up with emissions settings . it does make it easier to light a scene. the first render thought i did the lens flares in 12 layer s of photoshop for the effects.

The lighting was a bit tricky to get the way I wanted, but I kind of like how this one turned out.

Anyone know of a good tutorial for rendering image series? Like if I have a bunch of scenes and I want to batch them to render overnight without having to load them and render manually.

...not sure that can be done with Iray as it would require an external batch process.  Unfortunately since Iray is integrated into the Daz programme, the file being rendered needs to remain open until the process is done.  LuxRender might allow for batch rendering (not sure if Reality4 supports that though) as it has a separate UI for setting up the process, and will render without the needing scene and Daz programme open, but then you are pretty much back to CPU rendering unless you have an AMD GPU with OpenCL.

Just a portrait test using the new Georgia figure from OOT and Raiya, and Coln Jackson's Render Studio Iray, which has become my goto  for testing out new figures.  Man this model is gorgeous.  The detail is spectacular!  Had to thin the lips and reduce the breasts, but I am very pleased with this purchase.

....yeah I don't kniow what it is with so many characters having thick pouty lips and big breasts.  I often find myself downsizing both.

    She looks really nice.

That's really good work.  Reminds me of "The Bad Seed".

I remain commited to using the new trading floor suit with less buttoned shirts underneath it.

This image is pretty much a direct reference to something that i'm not too sure anyone will recognize. Its also so in my wheelhouse from so many directions. If I went through my gallery and had to pick only one image to represent things that I am interested in doing, this one makes a pretty good case for itself.

Thank you Knittingmommy.  You could be right about the age being a year or two less than my target. Young teen  ~13 yo or so is where I was aiming so maybe I will try again.  I like however so I'll keep her.

Hi praise indeed. Thank you.  I find one of the big problems is getting a suitable texture. Girls skin texture is usually fine-pored and for obvious reasons we only get skin from women at least twice the age of a younger person. Some work better than others.

I'm going to ask a bone-headed question now: How do I upload something to the user galleries?

Now that you mention it... yes. And I can't un-see it lol. I guess I just had Bowie on the Brain when I got up this morning.

Go to your account dasboard by using the drop down list from that little blue man in the top right hand corner,  then select Gallery from the list across the top and make a Galler for your self. You also upload pictures to an existing Gallery from there , once you have one set up.

    Bam! Thanks!

And for the thread, Hloomawl, one of my RPG characters. Part of an ongoing project, because minotaurs only seem to come with furry or metal bikinis and strappy shoulderpads.

    Hloomawl!

    Hi,

I just played around with the props of the Lighting Collection product.
Using the torches as the "only" real light source in the set was not the best idea. To let their light lighting the environment I had to set the tonemapping that way, so the flames of the torches were way too much overlighted. The color and individual structure got lost.

So I deceided to use small cylinders as ghostlights to amplify the brightness of the flames. That way it was possible to see the individual structure of the flames while having enough light to make the environment clearly visible.

    Hope you like it.

...Zev0 released a skin merchant resource for use with the Growing Up morphs that are more suitable for younger characters. Don't have it yet as it's a rather expensive and I'm on a tight budget.

For now I've been using the Josie 7 base skin in connection with Beautiful Skins for G3F and a lot of playing around with surface channels. Still need tpo wait for Skin Builder Pro 3 so she can have freckles again (only have overlays for Gen4 that won't work because of the change in skin mapping with G3)..
