Going to re-render tonight removing the camera ring light and replacing it with a with a softbox near the face, her skin grey'd out from all the cyan lighting and every time I look at it it's driving me nuts, space vampires was not what I was going for lol. Also that purple panel light put more of a reflection on her armor than I anticipated. When I post tomorrow morning I'll include a snapshot of the lighting setup, would like some opinions on what I could do better :)

...yeah trying to get a fair skin is a pain. Been wrestling with creating a proper albino skin for G3F.  Having to do it with the fairest skin texture I have along with adjusting colour channels and Gamma.  Still not satisfied.  Can't wait until Skin Builder Pro 3 is out.

Much happier with this light setup. Removed the colored lights since the environment already has a lot of color, gave the camera a soft white ring light and put an itty bitty light box on her face with a hint of yellow to counter the cyan in the engines. Will let this render overnight.

I've used DS for a lot of years, but I mostly use it as a digital sketching tool. I do light studies with simple lighting, or use the models as reference for my drawings and paintings. But I've had a project that I've been working on, on and off, all this year, and a few days ago it led me to creating this. It's my first real attempt at learning IRAY and given, a lot of it was looking at what other people have done, but I'm really happy with the results. Excited in fact.

There's still some cleanup to be done, for instance, there's a line between the face and the body texture, etc. But then it's time to spend some time experimenting with lighting, since I don't know much about that either.

Thank you for that compliment. :) Seriously.  That's Arki's Eagle Guard armor.  Fantstic set, and fits perfectly for what I wanted it.

...indeed, her skin looks much better. I often use a low intensity light to highlight faces a bit more.

Thanks.  I've heard on some monitors it is showing up too dark.  It looks fine on mine.  Not quite sure how to compensate for monitors that show up darker.  It's the best creepy image I've managed to date, though, so I'm quite proud of it.

@Brugan  I love those funny faces!  Nice!  Her skin on the other one does look a little nicer.  I haven't been to the galllery except in passing today.  I'll have to go through it and add my like.  :)

To me he has the facial resemeblence of the late iconic pop star David Bowie when he was a young man. Interesting.

I've been so productive at finishing renders this week! I have a new favorite character and I've been inspired. I love her face so much.

Also the texture that came with V6 HD remains one of my favorites of all time

and if you're wondering the dress was made made and draped in blender

the back view better without all the headlight glare

I've been lurking in the various iterations of this thread for a long time and have learned a lot.  I think that I need comments to move on.  So here is my first Iray post.  I have been trying to make a young teen for quite a while and never had a result I to be satisfied with.  I find they look younger in the viewport than in the rendered image. This is finally getting closer. There are varying degrees of the heads of several models together with Young-Teen from Growing Up as well as FaceYoung. All followed by some tweeks.

The  camera has headlamp off and the lighting is just the default background image.

@Ragazzine  Well, she's adorably cute!  I'm a terrible judge of age, but she looks like a young pre-teen or young teen to me.  You did a great job with her.

@Ivy Nice job on Speeding Ticket!  :)

    @jcade  Absolutely lovely!

Wow. totally unintentional but I see it. I was designing the character after vague recolections of 30s actresses. I really like this sort of cheek and jaw shape, espectially because so few characters tend to have it,

..very classy and elegant.  Reminds me of an old Life or Look magazine cover photo.
