Is your GPU listed in Render Settings - Hardware? Drivers up to date?
Can confirm some scripts/uitilities are working now, but some plugins such as mesh grabber can't be found. A huge improvement.
The best thing about Daz 6 is the speed, everything from load up assets to complete render a ultra HD render takes less a min
Thank you for trying to help me, it was user error - I had the Strand-based hair editor tool selected and didn't realize that's why Iray Preview wasn't working. As soon as I switched to the Universal Tool I was able to get Iray Preview to work again.
What driver are you using? Perhaps because it needs to work with raw geometry, not the interpolated curves in Iray (though I wasn't aware of this particular limitation).
Hi Maybe this is the wrong place to be posting this but I believe I've found an issue with editing the spline of a Dformer. When I try to click on a knot in the grid it doesn't select the knot I'm clicking on and automatically selects the knot on the far right side. This is seriously a problem that doesn't get left for years... I use dformers constantly and often edit the spline so this update has seriously handicapped that feature.
Now... I'm making this post the day the damn thing got released so I understand that some things need to be ironed out. Please just make sure this is one of those things!!!!
Also I'm loving version 6 so far. Lots of great optimization to make daz much more of a pleasure to use. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Please keep up this great work towards making Daz more functional.
I've done some renders with Daz 6. Overall, Daz 6 seems to work faster, G9 load's really fast and that's a big plus... view port is pain... but it was pain in the prev version too. It took 4min to render (2k img) with Daz 6 and 5min and 12 sec with Daz 4 same scene and setting. (4080 super).
There was one img I've rendered that the hair color on G9 was bit brighter with Daz 4. Can't say that's an issue.
Did a compare between DS 6.25.2026.14722 and 4.24.0.3 using a scene created in 4.24 (G9 character).
i5-12400 with UHD 730 onboard graphics
GTX1070 8GB, driver 560.94
32 GB DDR4
It appears that DS 6 doesn't see the GTX 1070 at all (driver is probably too old), but uses onboard graphics (if CPU is enabled under Render Settings in DS) and system memory instead. It's fairly fast anyway though, compared to the GTX card:
Rendering in separate window:
DS 4, GTX 1070 only: Total Rendering Time: 1 minutes 44.83 seconds
DS 6, onboard graphics only: Total Rendering Time: 5 minutes 6.24 seconds
Renders look exactly the same.
However, Iray preview lag is much smaller in 6 than in 4.24, and preview render is also pretty fast in 6, despite using onboard graphics. Here's a video showing the difference, 1st minute is DS 6 using onboard graphics, shifts to DS 4.24 using GTX card at 1:00

Jeeeezzzz!! Same here!!
I already reinstalled the gpu driver, reinstalled DAZ and made a support ticket! xDDD
That's a crazy one. Thanks for your post....
As a 3060 owner, does going with Daz Studio 6 benefit me in any meaningful way?
I see this too.
I am also confused what the point of this column is. I can change the color, but what does that gain me? It is just wasting space. It is also occupying the space that used to be for toggling item visibility, which is now in the third column. I would be interested to know what was the thinking behind this change. I have tried to get rid of the color column but there does not appear to be anyway of doing it, or of rearranging the column order.
EDIT: I asked the AI agent in Studio, and this is what it said for the reasoning behind this column:
The Color (C) column in the Scene pane is for organizing and visually grouping nodes by color, so you can tell things apart at a glance in busy scenes.
Common uses include:
Click a swatch to pick a color, and you can also apply it down the hierarchy (Ctrl/Cmd click) or reset it (Alt/Option click).
Does not seem to be very useful to me. I asked if the column can be removed, and I was told no, but a feature to allow this has been requested.
We use those in Photoshop (helps categorizing and organizing things by colour) but choosing to add them now, after all these years, is throwing everyone off. Clicked on one of those stupid boxes accidentally a hundred times last night.
It's running fairly well for me under Tahoe26.4.1, if that helps.
I'm running version 26.5.1, and I'm really happy that GOZ is back.
OK, so I have a question: I had bought ManFriday's Render Queue plugin before it was integrated into the Premium version. It has stuck with me through the upgrades, up until now. Is that software, that - as one does - I paid good money for, now lost to me?
Is there a summory somewhere of what we "lose" with DAZ 6?
DS6 Toolbars? My workflow for the last several years of almost daily use relies on window layout and multiple toolbar rows. I haven't tested the beta DS interim versions because I have actual work that needs to get done. Not only can't I have multiple toolbar rows now, but after I detach a toolbar, it never seems to want to redock. Anywhere. So trying to figure this out, I now have a ton of little floating toolbars that won't dock anywhere and have to float outside the window. If I fullscreen the window, the toolbars stay where they are and inevitably end up covering something important.EDIT: It took a few minutes of targeted search, but I found that the bug is that all side panes of the main window need to be collapsed before docking a toolbar will work. And I seem to be able to get multiple rows again. Several online search engines said that Daz had purposely removed the ability.
Also, I don't see where large scenes load any faster than in 4.24. One particular scene I'm working with has tons of textures. If I try to do anything before it's "ready" the screen just goes white and I have to wait just as long as I would have previously.
EDIT: This still applies. Loads aren't any faster, or if they are, they're a second or two off a 20-second load. Certainly not enough to brag about.
wait, you can use octane render on daz 4.24?
Sure can.
So far, I have not "lost" any of my workflow. I Google searched how to transfer my setup from 4.24 to 6. Basically it requires copying files from the APPDATA folder for Studio4 to Studio6. All of my scripts, bookmarks and layouts transfered with zero issues. I could not stand the new layout and font and color scheme and none of the default styles seemed to fit what I had before without adding or removing tabs and going through a ton of setup to make things look as I wanted. Sooo glad that visually I was able to make it identical with a simple drag and drop of some files.
As for whether or not all the scripts I use will work is yet to be seen but they are still in my cutom actions (I did have to reactive many in "About Installed Plugins"). I definitely cannot live without my Bookmark script as so many of the "ported" items from other stores from a few years back still lack any Smart Content and they would just end up lost in a sea of endless quantity. I can confirm that scenes not only load faster but the program itself shuts down much faster than 4.24. One of my biggest gripes with Daz is that a scene with a few models can take 15 minutes to clear from memory (DDR5 and a decent MOBO!) and that is extra annoying when you just want to shut down your computer and call it a day.
Iray Preview is leaps and bounds faster for me now than previous. I have a Nvidia 3060TI (because VRAM matters more than power) and it seems to work much smoother in the current build.
This is all first glance impressions but so far, this version just seems to be a minor upgrade and people should definitely give it a try. None of this means I will indefinitely stick with it but until I find something that has been lost that I cannot live without, I think this is a step up for me (I mean, after wasting an hour transfering my workspace over and making it function exactly as before).
You bought a plugin for DS4 and it still works in DS4. It doesn't work in DS6, and won't unless there's a new version made for DS6. It's unlikely there will be one though as the product is not available for sale anymore.
Re: the lag again, I decided to see if anything was potentially contending for GPU, and killed off background stuff left lying around from various video editing applications. It might have been a little better, it's hard to say. But based on this, I decided to reboot (which I really ought to have done in the first place) and things got a lot better. It is a lot better, and I would say usuable. So to others with serious issues, try rebooting. It may help.
The lag is maybe 1 second now rather than 5. But now the delay is slightly less ridiculous, I am able to observe what seems like a conscious change in behaviour which I don't think helps the perception.
Is this one of those "set it once and never change it" settings I would have set 3 years ago? Or is this how 6 behaves? Or am I misremembering? I will be able to try this over the weekend, it it'll be interesting to see, if nobody else has noticed this change (if it is a change).
