Rosie is wondering why she's not getting any ice cream.

Inspired by a render that was posted on the Slackers discord, we have zombies with ice cream.

This isn't a wealth of newly used items, but we do have:

https://www.daz3d.com/ice-pops (a pretty old product, but not too shabby with some shader tweaks)
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-su-fashion-urban-outfit-for-genesis-9-81-and-8-female (which I don't *think* I've used yet, at least I can't find anything I've uploaded to the gallery that's using it).

This has been a long running WIP that I finally remembered to wrap up when people were posting about Mass Effect for N7 day.

    I think I haven't used any of...

    https://www.daz3d.com/sci-fi-settlement-construction-set
    ... before.

I know I have used https://www.daz3d.com/chthonic-arkouda-hd-for-genesis-8-male and https://www.daz3d.com/sci-fi-square before, but they get a slightly more prominent role here than I remember previously.

I've wanted to use https://www.daz3d.com/isis-lock for a while, but had previously failed to come up with a scene I was happy with.

This is also a first use of Aeon Soul's new Decibel outfit for their Urban Noise series, although it's going here rather than the "recent buys" topic because they've released it on other stores.

I don't think it would qualify for the other discussion when the only product I recently bought used in that render is so blurred, but I'll count it toward the #4new challenge blush

The vest and the textures used are freebies by Aeon Soul and I wanted an icon for the textures pack's metadata, in line with the one I made for the vest's metadata, so I re-used many of the same products including the render presets as a base and made change to fit the more fantasy look of the textures pack.

All items bought from Daz should be linked at the bottom of the gallery page.

Gardienne du Sanctuaire (Sanctuary's Warden in English, but since it's taking place in DM's Le Sanctuaire, I used French too):

My November's render for Llola's Lane render challenge. I took the 'two women kissing while sitting on the stairs' idea from an artwork I saw on Bluesky, drawn by an artist called Simz, and I tried to re-create it in Daz Studio.

    Tricks or kisses?

Victoria and Lacey waited for their friends before going to a Halloween party, sitting on the stairs, chatting and kissing.

While they were kissing, they both heard a burst of camera shutter sounds telling them at least one of their friends was here: the photographer.

Unfazed, Victoria waved her wand to make the photographer go away, but either she’s not really a witch, just disguised as one, or she needs to be able to speak to cast a spell.

Who knows, but while editing the photo, the cheeky photographer added a nice warm magical light on Victoria’s wand.

    All is forgiven?

    #4News:

Premium Props - Park Bench, a freebie from June this year and which provided the lamp in the background.

Urban Sprawl 3, which is great to add a US style city in the background on top of being a great environnment.

dForce Victorian Vampire Outfit for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females, very nice but for some reasons, the jacket while having SubD already activated, is loading at Base resolution which produced not so great shadow. The rest of the outfit doesn't have SubD active, but once added, it worked nicely (though I mainly needed it on the boots).

Wizardly Wands for Genesis 9, nothing really to say, the light effect on the tip is just a point light with a bit of geometry and bloom filter active.

CC Character Kit: Vampire Vagaries MR for Genesis 9, it's made for Genesis 9 and I don't think it'll work on Genesis 8. I looked at how the pallor effect was made and I applied it manually on Genesis 8 as best as I could (I may have missed something), which is not something I could have set on my own.

Feng Fantasy Books, barely visible, but I wanted Lacey's and Victoria's heads at a similar level and after taking into account the difference in height between them, the depth and the height of the stairsteps, something was still missing.

Descant Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s), it does look great but it's not dForce so to get it to drap nicely, I added dForce on the dress, did a simulation after applying dForce on it and the dress slipped down… So I added a weight map to set the first couple of rows of polygons from the waist to be excluded from the simulation and the dress stayed on Victoria's hip. It will likely need more tweaking around the trim at the bottom if you want to use it on a scene where it's more visible but it felt nice enough for my use.

I think I learned how to do it in this video (I'm not sure, it's been a while):

Mada also has a nice tutoriel on the subject that I also watched:

    Alight

I got the Lich Outfit for G9 several days ago (great deal too: with the punches and my Daz coupon, it was $0.55) as a treat, because I didn't really needed. But I did want it ;). So, I had to try it out immediately, and it's as stunning as it's in the promo renders. I didn't even bother to try SubD 3-4 (which all pieces have), and it still came out great. Also, you can switch emission off for the pieces easily or change the color which adds to versatility. I haven't tried more serious simulations yet, but I recommend following the advice about hiding some of the pieces. Otherwise you're risking an explosion.

I also finally tried LI KineticArcana - Firestorm (bought in September, but it's the first time, because I only recently bought the LI KineticArcana VDB Toolkit that was required for it), and it's stunning work. That flame you see was in no way postproceesed in the image. I can see myself using it a lot.

No AI. Gallery image and items used here.

Edit: This was supposed to go into the other challenge, since the Lich is new, but I'll just leave it here.

Just some portrait of Sylvia 9 in her dryad form. I enhanced it a little bit with Twiggant for Genesis 9, the The FoliageMaker and some other stuff. And then I ran wild with a lot of morph sliders wink

    Greeting the sun

That is delightful, and a good use of the assets.

This one's been languishing as a WIP for some time, but I've decided to finally wrap it up.

Mostly I just wanted to do stuff with silly armour.

Lots of previously unused assets in this one, even overlooking character shapes and skins that would get really tedious to list.

https://www.daz3d.com/earkhams-zworld-vile-crawlers-ii-dungeon-monsters (bashed into armour for the lamia's tail).
https://www.daz3d.com/orlean-s-armor-for-genesis-8-female-s & https://www.daz3d.com/orleans-armor-for-genesis-8-males (I converted the male chest plate and undersuit to work with the rest of the female set, as this set I did want to be complete armour albeit with...)
https://www.daz3d.com/hanami-outfit-for-genesis-3-female-s & https://www.daz3d.com/hanami-outfit-textures (... to providing the skirt, because even though I'm not much of an anime fan, I ran across some frilly armoured dresses, and they were too silly to not do).

Work in progress. Will probably post additional and/or different camera angles in my gallery once I get them rendered, and likely do some sort of write-up in my Art Studio thread. First use of everything except Grace, her sword, and the wearable lights... possibly I got most of the stuff in the last month? But putting it over here because my brain is mush and none of it is new as far as the store goes.

    List of the major ones:

It all started with the Trendy Barista outfit: I was a bit disappointed when I saw that the skirt, shirt, jacket and tie were one item, but thankfully, no shortcut were followed while modelling them so everyone of them could work as a 'standalone' item, once the others are removed or hidden. Because it felt like the least resistance path (no need to save items and create metadata for them), I create Conditionnal Grafts (more on that in the gallery description) and then looked at how I could mix some part of the outfit with other to end with a new outfit.

At one point, I also wanted to see how many Genesis 3 figures I could fit in 16GB of VRAM, hence the use of mostly Genesis 3 Era items, but it got boring to find contemporary clothes in my Genesis 3 wardrobe (I could have expanded it by converting Genesis 8 clothes but it felt like cheating and too much work too) and poses around the 10GB mark.

Most of the Genesis 3 clothes are something I never used before for a render, but to showcase four items for #4news:

So, 'Samedi soir sur la terre':

Other items and the raw render are linked and visible in the gallery.

    'Dear Diary'

Jynskie, freshly out of engineering school is keeping track of her first job aboard a flying ship.

    ‘Dear diary,

What am I supposed to write to you that I didn’t already wrote many times since the start of my journey as an engineer aboard the Storm Riders?

    Same old, same old, right?

Would you like to read one more time about the very cute bottom of that mechanic? Or about my boss, for which I would use a less flattering bottom-related moniker?

Sadly, I only share a watch with the later and the former is a sound sleeper…

    Oh, I know!

We finally fixed the steam leak sapping the power of the left side engine room. And I’m the one that found it, not that aforementioned boss.

I even had the time to restore the hot water steam flux we had to route to the LSER as stopgap solution.

Hot baths should do wonder to the passengers’ mood, which should improve the captain mood too. Maybe my boss’ too? Nah, impossible.

    Mine? Absolutely.

Dear diary, I would love to write to you longer, but a hot bath doesn’t wait, especially on a ship like the Storm Riders.’

As she closed her diary, Jynksie activated the cypher and wards protecting her diary from prying eyes.

Items used should be all linked in the gallery (for the one bought from Daz at least).

The background of the render was added in postwork and is ’The Milky Way Shines on Paranal’, shared under a CC BY 4.0 by the European Southern Observatory.

Another freebie I can link to is the 'Iray Moon Prop and Camera (for DAZ Studio)' by @RawArthttps://www.deviantart.com/rawart3d/art/Iray-Moon-Prop-and-Camera-for-DAZ-Studio-708499199

I didn't use the camera included with it because the moon felt too close with it, but I think the moon is still parented to the main camera to drag her away in the camera's plane with the viewport widget with a lot of zooming in and out to get her far away.

A selection of 'New' items used in this render (I didn't check if they were some I bought the month before doing the render last year):

    • dForce Strand-Based Very Short Pixie Style Hair for Genesis 9 and 8 Female: very nice short hair. The Genesis 9 had a bug placing the hair at neck level on some character, a bug which was fixed by an update last year, sadly, the Genesis 8 version has it too and hopefully it will be fixed too. In the meantime, to solve it, a solution is available in this discussion, don't forget to read @crosswind answer at the end of the discussion to avoid scene files becoming too big.
    • dForce Steampunk Engineer Outfit for Genesis 9: the main reason I got Asha 9 bundle with my bundle coupon laugh and the current render is my second attempt at using it with Jynksie (the first is still a WIP at the back of my head).
    • P3D 100 Natural Expressions Mega Pack for Genesis 9: very easy to use, thank to the top and bottom dilas smiley
    • The Storm Riders Airship
    • Light Bob: I didn't know it existed until @barbult (I think) shared a render with it. Possibly one of the fastest item put on use because I got it one day before I posted the draft of the render in November last year in my gallery (unpublished of course, but it's a great way to keep track of what I used while my mind is fresh).

And they might be... US District Court in Richmond, Virginia has similarly high-set windows in their foyer, and I think the ceiling goes all the way up to 4th or 5th floor (I wasn't there for sightseeing, so I might remember it all wrong ;) ) which means you can actually look down at the foyer from each floor. That would make some tall ceiling. Though, looking at the building's outside, it looks like they have smaller windows first, and then taller ones, so not exact match, but the principle stands ;)

Was the 'sparklings' something done in Daz Studio or in postwork?

Portrait in red - Hanako 9

I did a bit of postwork, trying to add movements on a leaves and the end of Hanako's tails. Raw render in the gallery if you want to play Spot the differences (I tried to keep it subtle to not overdone it).

    New items used:

    • dForce Midweek Dress for Genesis 9 and 8, 8.1 Female with a top from dForce Formal Wardrobe Mega Pack for Genesis 9 (lots of polygons hidden to remove pokethroughs). I tried to do what @tsroemi did wonderfully with Breeze's belted dress (using it as a coat in 'Excuse me Miss?'), but  Ididn't find something fitting under it without too much fidling and I don't think I'm there yet to make a morph for that purpose in Blender (one that would not butcher the dress at least).
    • HL Mabel Strappy Sandals for Genesis 9, 8 and 8.1 Female, nothing particular to say, like other shoes by Havanalibere, they are simply working as they are suppose to, which is a nice thing on its own smiley
    • FK Cathya Jewelry Set, very nice, as usual with Fabiana's products, and unlike some olders ones, the hearrings are rigged smiley (not sure I posed them as they should though).
    • Collection of Classic Bags for Genesis 9 Feminine, very nice too, with some poses (I didn't use them). A small nitpick: it it would have been nice to have a wearable preset loading the bags parented to the correct hand (instead, they are parented to the figure itself, so it's best to load them in the default pose, to parent the bag to the hand before posing the figure).
    • FK Manicure Muse Morphs and Materials for Genesis 9 MR Bundle (edit: I though I have used it before but didn't initially see it in Daz Deals blush, still a nice product with lots of possibility if you want to tweak Genesis 9's nails): I played a bit with the various settings to understand how they worked, but I would not call myself an expert. Both products are really nice and easy to use (it can be a bit dauting at first: lots of options are available).
    • Glasses set 2 for Genesis 8 and 8.1: it's a simple prop, so easy to use on other generations, with morphs to adjust them to the face of a character.

It's from the Sci-Fi VFX pack I tagged in the products used section. (Albeit with a dFormer used to stretch the centre out to make the sparks much more directional rather than the more dome shape they had originally).

Very nice render and display of the products. I am left to wonder what she is looking back at. Maybe a guy walking into a pole? Regarding the sandals. What I noticed in your render and makes them noteworthy is the actual buckle on the ankle strap. I see so many sandals that have a strap/chain around the ankle but no apparent way to open or close it, so you could put the shoes on. That is a nice real world touch.

HavanaLibere does nice shoes smiley and it's too bad they are not doing cute flat-footed shoes like the Bowtique Loafers and Twinkletoe Flats by Nelmi (I do have flat footed shoes by HL too, but I found them to be falling more on the formal / pratical side and not on the 'I want to look fabulous without risking my ankles at every step' side, if I'm making any sense saying that).

Sorry I'm a bit late, haven't been on the forums much these past days - thank you so much for the very nice shout out! And I think your render here turned out absolutely amazing, much much cooler than mine. I feel kinda proud now to have been a tiny bit inspirational for a part of it blush

I've been helping a vendor with some asset files recently, so I haven't done much rendering, but to drive some actual activity on the forums, one from a couple of weeks back that I hadn't uploaded here.

Which does count at a stretch, as it's using https://www.daz3d.com/ultimate-dforce-bed-2 which I don't think I've previously used. Even if said bed is mostly

Anyway, the silly lolcat macro I found on my hard drive from some time back that inspired this - I thought it'd be an interesting dForce challenge, and so Kristin drew the short straw as the member of my cast who canonically has a cat.

One of my favorite things is setting up new environments and fiddling with them to get an interesting render.  This one uses Wild West Town, which I picked up recently.

Figure is BJ Tatiana, and the dress is the CB Clementine Dress.

The Wild West Town used an unusual shader for the ground terrain and I had trouble making it look plausible, so I changed to a ground shader and tinkered with the tiling and displacement 'til it didn't look distracting.
