My husband works in IT and has implemented Programmer on Call protocols in various departments. The department pays for a cell phone that the programmers rotate through carrying. The person who is on call is expected to respond ASAP 24/7 to reported problems. They rotate on a weekly basis, so no one person carries the burden of taking all off-hours calls. They either get paid extra or receive comp time, depending upon whether they are hourly or salaried. That way their clients are taken care of, but it's fair to the programmers.

Ultimately, this kind of problem is the direct result of DAZ's own decision to try to make the software equivalent of a Chevy Vega do the same thing as a Harrier Jet while everyone involved is at home in bed, dreaming that the whole thing didn't just explode on the launch pad. The ultimate truth in business is You can do something fast, you can do something cheap, or you can do something well. Doing one of those is easy, doing two at the same is a lot more difficult but acheivable. Doing all three at the same time requires having Angels at your back, Excaliber in your hand, and signed deals with both Lucifer and Murphy to stay out of the way.

Well I do agree about the overcomplexity of the sales, and wonder why they keep on with this with all those problems there are, and the confusion it causes with their customers (even when it works correctly).

I guess because DAZ customers have grown used to the rather complex sales and some of the customers seem to enjoy it. I mean, @Cybersox said and a lot of us can agree that we like to buy if we see a good sale going up. I won't lie, I was happy when I saw the possibility to get a pro bundle for 18$ this morning. And I will also admit that I bought items that I'm not sure I would have bought but when I saw them at 70% off at Fast Grab I got them. Not to say there were a lot if items during the PC+ for a day deals and byob that I would never have bought but as a bargain I got them and find many of them very useful. And of course, sometimes we buy stuff that we can't use but we buy them nonetheless because we wouldn't get a good discount otherwise ... and do on.

I guess this happens with a lot of people and the sales works for DAZ. They help customers buy stuff they wouldn't consider otherwise, and they trigger more spending. Before I read the forums regularly I would never have considered buying gift cards with a discount to stack additional discounts. So although the sales cause trouble and unhappy customers, they stick to it.

so who want to open a kickstarter fund? to help daz afford to keep an incredibly skilled and patient IT person on a Sale Crisis! hotline over the weekends?

the store and sales and glitches can be incredibly frustrating sometime. and i've emptied many a cart a few hours before daz midnight when it became apparent that The Fix wasn't happening that day, and i really didn't feel like taking a snapshot of my cart and a copy-paste of the alleged sale copy and/or coupon code, buying the stuff at the wrong price, and waiting a couple of days for daz's wonderful support staff to sort the money out. (that takes half an hour, easy...and then the wait.)

it's basically like going to the circus. i don't go to the circus unless i'm in the mood to enjoy the circus. and i love a good circus when i'm in the mood.

and we marketplace people in here--if this circus makes *your* head spin sometimes, just imagine how the PAs feel! imagine you're releasing a new product and your day one sales fizzle because the basic new product discount isn't being applied, or your new bundle accidentally triggers a mega-percent-off accidental stacking discount and carts out at 72% off. how is customer service going to sort *your* troubles out, and how happy are *you* going to be, going to sleep that night? you may enjoy your work, but you're a professional. this product premiere is next month's rent!

I think we have established that it has nothing to do with a prior day's purchases. I didn't buy anything yesterday, either, and it hasn't worked for me for days, no matter what I did or did not buy. It's fine.....I was able to get plenty of other very nice deals.

Weird. I tried different combinations of items in my cart and it remained $0.00 no matter what.

As shown above, I checked out with it without anything else in the cart.

Well the errors doesn't really bother me much personally, but there are a lot of people complaining. And customer service is constantly overburdened with giving people refunds. I doubt that DAZ really want all this, I rather think that they keep on trying, hoping that they'll eventually get the bugs fixed for good.

Yea, I often wonder about that too. Do PAs get 50% of the actual cart price no matter what it is, or do they get compensation if the price is wrong? If no compensation, I'd hesitate selling anything here.

I like my sales simple and easy. As in. Here's your sale price. No conditions. The DAZ store used to be as simple as that, once, long ago.

I do not buy stuff I don't need to trigger sale prices on other stuff, or jump through three other hoops.

All those kinds of sales (about 90% of the sales going on here) are totally lost on me.

Other than yesterday, when there was some stuff interesting to me, most notably the Shugatak sets.

Well, whenever they will be down at $2.99 again, in a standalone sale that doesn't require buying something else first, or a PC-membership.... (probably never, like most of these $2.99 deals...)

But on principle, I will never pay more than $2.99 on any of the items that I was not able to buy this sale.

The 2.99 promotion with additional discount for new release still doesn't work for me either and I have not bought from that catgory in days now as it didn't work as advertised.

My question is "Why in the world has DAZ continued to run this sale after knowing that it is not working properly for the majority of customers?? Please don't say the people in the forums are a minority as we are a representation of how many more people don't visit the forums to voice their frustration with this sale ... they just don't buy. Why not remove it and put up a sale that actually works instead of wasting everyone's time trying to figure out why it doesn't work and losing sales for both DAZ and the PA's? DAZ it just doesn't work ... maybe look at some simple straight forward sales and marketing and you will probably see happier customers and bigger profits!

I got lucky again with this sale, and picked up some nice bundles by Polish, and also one $2.99 item. Then again, I have had problems most days, and every time I dumped the cart, so I'd estimate Daz lost at least $100 from me alone in the last week or so.

Also, downloading what I did buy via DIM is almost glacially slow, with three items installing after more than an hour.

Today the 2.99 promotion is only working with a new release in the cart for me (after that both the loyalty discount and the extra 20% are being applied).

However it will not work with a new PC clothes texture addon item in the cart. It will triggers for iray addon items or shaders just not the texture items.

Yes, download speed is 1/10 of what it was a mere 2 hours ago.
