The 2.99 +20% off sale worked perfectly for me on Christmas Day. Now I see a notice with the $2.99 specials that say "usable once per customer." Today, the $2.99 works for me, the extra 20% off with new item: no. That didn't work yesterday, either. Does that mean I'm outta luck for that price for the rest of this special? And there is a $2.99 item I would buy. I'm guessing the New Years Countdown will go to the New Year. If I buy that $2.99 item today, does that mean it will be broken tomorrow and through New Year's? It is confusing. Any clarity from anyone?
The $2.99 deal is such a mess, causing different problems on different days for different people, that nobody knows what's going on. or how to fix it.
Just enjoy the ride and be happy if you get any sort of sale prices at all.... And be prepared that the next day, things might not work again.
I agree. Thanks Semple
This is why it will never be fixed, why should Daz bother if people just except it.
OK, I bought some deal items at $2.99 this morning. Putting a new item in the cart brought them up to a higher price, so I deleted that. After that, I could put a new item in the cart and get more items for $2.99 (no extra 20% discount).
@scorpio: Ok. What am I supposed to do? Kick and scream? If it's a big enough deal, I can make a trouble ticket. I'll get an answer in a few or several days. Or maybe the sale on New Years will work perfectly. Plus, I already have tons of content - nothing like the guy with 500 pages, but more than enough. If the situation today doesn't suit me, I can wait.
Stop buying and certainly don't post ''oh its ok no problem'', they are advertising a price for something, what would you do if your local store had a price on something but the checkout refused to ring that price up would you just except it?
As I recall (cuz we got questions about it all the time) the notice has always been there. It is meant to be usable once per day, problems withstanding, which Daz has continued to try, but, as with the mods who have tried, it continues to work as expected. Frustrating on both ends.
Haven't bought a thing here for a week, been spending my money at Mankahoo and Renderosity....
And whatever items I missed at $2.99 will only be bought for $2.99 or less, at future sales, or not at all...
Did anyone at Daz try creating a new account and see if it worked in a non-Daz related cart? Every time I add a new item to the cart, the $2.99 items shoot up to $9.95 except today when they stay at $2.99 and don't get the extra discount. Many people here have the exact same experience. So maybe Daz should try creating several new accounts with different email addresses and see if they can reproduce the problem...
@scorpio: You're right, but I think it's all going to work out just fine.
@Cris: Thanks. I understand .
Or even notice it. For every person who complains here, there are probably hundreds who put the items in the cart and never notice that they're not getting the price advertised. It's like the hotels that advertise a super-low price and then stick in a daily "resort fee" in the fine print... a lot of people never notice or assume that their kids were watching pay per view movies. I stayed at the Stratosphere in Vegas once for the Consumer Electronics Show and discovered that they were charging a wi-fi fee per device connected rather than by room, and the complexity of DAZ's marketing gibberish often makes the Vegas Casinos' boilerplate look like the work of rank amateurs.
Er... that would be me, though there are people with even more content. The thing is, I picked up all that content at an average of 20 cents on the dollar by watching the sales closely, taking full advantage of every offer and making sure that I'm not getting charged a penny more than I should be...and the best way to make sure that that doesn't happen is to complain about problems as soon as I see them happening. The sad fact is that while the squeaky wheel may be annoying as hell, it DOES get the grease.
I always forget about Mankahoo.
They only go on sale once per year, over the three days of Christmas - everything in the store at 50%
Daz is well aware of the issue, considering how often we have raised it with them and they have tried to track it down. We've also suggested that people open support tickets to get a refund on the overcharge, or even try opening a ticket showing that the price should have been $2.99 (less loyalty, if appropriate) at the time of posting and asking to pruchase the items at the quoted price. I have no doubt that Daz staff are pretty much as frustrated over this as customers are.
I didn't mean to touch a nerve with anyone. Until a few days ago, I didn't even realize this forum was here. Yes, the pricing is weird sometimes. Yes, some of the sale language is hard to follow. OK. Maybe I'm wrong, but that doesn't especially bother me. If the price is a problem, I don't buy the item(s). If it's important enough, I make a trouble ticket, and it gets resolved. I'm with @Cybersox on the bargain-hunting. 500 pages! That's impressive!
PC discount is for items owned by Daz, the lions aren't so it won't apply.
Thanks, Richard!
OK, just for the record (I don't care) but today the $2.99 wasn't working. I logged out and could put one $2.99 in the cart at $2.99, and then a second; and then when I put a debut new release in everything discounted further. I logged in and the $2.99 items which had discounted went back to $2.99; and then I removed the debut new release; and the $2.99 went back to $9.95.
Yup, that's what I've been getting for the past seven days...
After working for me all week, $2.99 items are $9.95 today...
Have you done anything yesterday at the DAZ store, that you did not do before, that could have triggered it...?
I know. And I always forget... ;/ There are just too many smaller stores to keep track of.
yeah the 20% extra discount over the 2,99 stuffs buying new releases is really not working for me too, it worked yesterday but today is not working.
I didn't buy anything at all yesterday, and the 2.99 sale doesn't work today, not since I think 12/23. The 70% off sale says "top 19 people and top 19 animals".....maybe tomorrow we will get top 19 wearables, etc.?
I'm with Cybersox.....love getting great bargains....
Practically all online stores run 24/7, but it's probably a minority that can afford 24/7 customer service (and some of those who can underpay their workers). DAZ could probably provide it if they wanted, but that would most likely mean higher content prices and then customers would start complaining about that instead and probably buy less. As always, you get what you pay for.
This is true, but those stores don't normally run sales as complex as DAZ's, or do the changeovers during non-working hours. Ultimately, this kind of problem is the direct result of DAZ's own decision to try to make the software equivalent of a Chevy Vega do the same thing as a Harrier Jet while everyone involved is at home in bed, dreaming that the whole thing didn't just explode on the launch pad. The ultimate truth in business is You can do something fast, you can do something cheap, or you can do something well. Doing one of those is easy, doing two at the same is a lot more difficult but acheivable. Doing all three at the same time requires having Angels at your back, Excaliber in your hand, and signed deals with both Lucifer and Murphy to stay out of the way.
Well I do agree about the overcomplexity of the sales, and wonder why they keep on with this with all those problems there are, and the confusion it causes with their customers (even when it works correctly).
