Interesting. I'll look at it in the morning or later tonight. Need to remember Scripts I have in Menu option.
I see files related to "Daz Studio 6+ BETA SDK" in my DIM.
It did the same for me, when I first opened DIM I didn't see the general release itself (some plugins like Measure Metrics did appear though) but after relaunching DIM I see it now.
The first thing that jumps out at me as for whatever reason, the UI font is different and does not display very well in 1080p, it's uncomfortably hard to read compared to 4.x. There does not seem to be any setting I can find that changes this.
figured it out. the problem was with the download filers. thanks for your guys help.
Does Daz Studio 6 support my 3d mouse like DS 4 did?
There's a plugin available for that, see this thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/759601/bj-3dconnexion-3d-mouse-plugin-for-daz-studio-2026
For some reason DAZ6 is (alot) slower in the preview render then DAZ4.23. I have a 3090RTX Nvidea card. I would assume that it would at least be the same speed of the application.
I have noticed a problem with the focus on scenes prepared in Daz 4.24 and Daz 6.
I usually prepare my scenes in Daz 4.24 due to the viewport lag and render them in Daz 6. So I place the focal point on the eye of the character or whatever and then when I load the same scene in Daz 6, I notice that the white sphere stays in the same place as it was in Daz 4, but the actual focus point is a bit back. I'm not sure if I not understanding the focus point right, or is it something to do with Daz 6? I have attached a screenshot.
I have placed a plane in the exact same spot as where my character was so it's a bit more obvious, so in Daz 6 the focus is not in the right place.
Since all PA plugins and many scripts are still not ported to Daz 6, it would be shooting themselves in the foot to end 4.24 support any time soon. This is the official release, apparently.
That said, you should still back up the 4.24 zip, and associated plugins and starter resources, just in case support ends in the future. You don't want to be surprised in the future, either.
The future of Daz3d is bleak. They focused on so many random things that people dont actually need, Ai chat is useless lets be real.
Second, they launched the Daz6 with a broken viewport. It is still crap to this day. I downloaded newest Nvidia studio drivers and downloaded the Windows preview driver that "should" help. It's all the same.
The screen still tilts randomly when u move around in the viewport. I dont get why we stopped the previous model of viewport I know it was outdated but it worked really fine. If there is a newer version how about we dont implement it fully if it still lags the scenes so badly like who making these fucking decisions. Like the fact that i realised that i need to buy a 4090 card to be able to work on my game efficiently just makes me fucking sad.
PS I got top of the line PC if u ask me if i am running it on a potato. I work on Daz and it gives food on my table so understand that the state i am being put is really alarming. Because these idiots focused on some random AI features for 4 years which only led us to getting a useless AI chat bot.
Given the feedback above, I am not going to try installing DAZ Studio 6 for now, even if in theory can go in parallel (I have too many bought plugins, plus a well structured personalised Scripts menu, thank you Daz), but I have nonetheless a question, what is the older model of GPU supported by DAZ Studio 6 (well, the NVIDIA libraries it uses) ? Or said in a different ways, what is the older version of CUDA it is compatible with ? Or in a different way again, what is the lowest "computer capability" the card must have to be usable with DAZ Studio 6 ?
Any of the above answers would be enough for me, actually, the anwer to the second or third question are even better than to the first, because with that I can more precisely kind of backtrack to the family of cards, and see if I could still use at least the more recent ones I have.
Thanks !
Spent some time talking to AI bot on how could i make the viewport work better. It suggested me using the Simplify plugin, which is for Blender.
I hope this shows how much this AI bot will be usefull to us!
DS 4.x won't disappear.
They have been notified.
All AI is going to do is harvest data from your machine, it's all controlled by the Elite or Chinese one way or another.
When they announced DS6 Daz specifically said that the latest DS4 would remain available for download. Having a backup can't hurt though.
You can use any GPU as long as it supports the 576.57 driver or higher. 576.80 Is the first Studio Driver (SD) after the minimum. NVIDIA recommends installing Studio Drivers (SD).
The name implies it should work with Daz Studio 4.24, but just to be sure: if I'm updating Default Ressources for Daz Studio 4.23+, it won't cause any problem with Daz Studio 4.24 ?
No.
The viewport works well enough with a 40xx series GPU. I've been running the beta for a month side-by-side with 4.24 and my productivity is up. Probably because I had no idea how helpful have two copies of Daz running could be. Moreso than the beta. But the beta loads scenes and unloads screens 10 times faster than 4.24. That alone is worth the lack of some scripts and plugins for most of my workflows.
Search for Daz Studio 6 in the DIM filter bar. That's what I had to do.
"WORK WHILE YOUR SCENE LOADS UP!"
I dont get it you cant do anything while the scene loads up. So did they just made this shit up?
As a complement, from what I've read in the "Iray highlights" thread, all pre-Turing GPU support has been declared deprecated, which means it will likely be removed at some point. So while 10xx cards still work for now, we don't know how long that will last.
Is there any place that describes what 'Default Resources for Daz Studio 4.23+' is? What does it add? What does it remove? Why should I install it?
"Default resources" contains basic things you need to use DS like the default shaders and lights.
Warning- this is a rant
I've been with DAZ since 2012 so I have ported a few generations of figures, software and plugins. The loss in time and productivity with every new release have made it very painful to invest further in this expensive hobby. I got the idea that instead of seeing it from their customer perspective, DAZ just have dollars in mind. It's Artists-- Artists you provide a tool for! Not your product engineers who like to play with tokens and bots. Not your investors you want to provide with a great way to unlock NFT. Look up on the shop menu and you will see 'AI Solutions'; a link that will allow companies to license original DAZ characters to anyone making games or bots or whatever. The room for Artists to create something original based on the DS tech or its market gets smaller and smaller. The shift from 3D render to AI slop will soon be complete. As usual I will wait a year or so with upgrading. In the meantime, any time I feel the impulse to upgrade DAZ, I just come to the forum to read some horror upgrade posts. After 4 years of UX/UI improvement promises, a bot is the main attraction of the new release? Instead of a flashy video relase with AI animated clips, why don't DS give a step by step download guide how to save your plugins, existing asset pathways and an easy download backup copy of 4.24 before flogging DS 6 as the best thing ever? A lot of users seem to be just content with the substandard of customer centricity and coping with self-help seems to be accepted.
You can do better DAZ, but why bother when customers just take it on the chin, eh?
4.24 and its plugins is unaffected by installing 6
Found that the Premier Functions aren't working, as Render Queue isn't popping up for me.
As ever, it’s a right pain to use with a graphics tablet.
