i ate a shabu-shabu a few times when i lived in Gardena, they usually had a heated bowl with like a chimney in the midde and it was actively boiling the whole time. I'm guessing there are different methods but I remember it being a group experience, really fun way to eat communally.
in this render it looks like each dish is big enough for many more than 1 person? Like a stew or something
Yeah basically. At least with oden, you have a pot with your cooked fish cakes and everybody serves themselves from it. (As a street food though it's usually served on a skewer)
There's at least one convenience store chain, Lawson, which is similar to 7-11, that sells Oden at the front counter from a steam-table type arrangement, along with meat buns, popcorn chcken, etc.
edt - Actually, thinking back on which convenience stores are next to the hotels I normally stay at when I'm in Tokyo, I realized that 7-11 and Family Mart also sell Oden during the winter months.
I got some at a Circle K in Kyoto once.
Fun fact: the food at Japanese convenience stores is actually really good.
So true. "Konbini" food in Japan is a whole dining experience that's become a big part of the Japanese lifestyle, with an amazing selection that can include some surprising food combinations like yakisoba noodles served on hot dog buns, sandwiches made with fruit and whipped creme, plus an obsessive attention to freshness that has the stock changed out and refreshed every few hours. Then again, that's true about most dining options in Japan... going into a lot of the U.S. chains that have done well in Japan can be like entering an alternate universe, and my first stop after landing in Narita is usually to go to one of the terminal Mcdonalds to get an Ebi-filet... basically the Fish Filet, but made with chopped shrimp... and a Teriyaki burger for train ride into Tokyo. If it's not there, then it'll be to the Subway for a shrimp and alvacado sub, and you can bet that at least once during the trip I'll end up in the Shakey's in Shibuya, which is visually a dead ringer for the Shakey's I used to eat at as a kid, except the all-you-can buffet options include curry and rice along with the pizza, pasta and fried potatoes, while the standard toppings like pepperoni and sausage are joined by Japanese favorites like corn, wasabi, squid and desert pizza's like black currant cheesecake.
Damn it, now I've made myself hungry... thank goodness I live only a few blocks from several Japanese grocery stores with made-in-store lunch options as well as a half dozen Japanese restaurants.
I really like the concept of the "Polish College Party Bundle" and Polish has done some excellent work with the details, but right off the bat I'm seeing some concerns. Consider this constructive criticism...
The Barbie Sign? Copyright violation?
The Modefn City sign, should that be spelled "Modern City"?
Something about the scale of the beer bottles and beer pong (tennis balls) seems off, they are too large compared to other items such as furniture, the cups, the burgers, etc. The beer bottles are almost the same size as the wine bottles. Also, beer pong is played with table tennis (ping-pong) balls.
As for the wine bottles... do college students party with wine? Not in my day (90s). Maybe things have changed...
The wine barrel in the kitchen would have been bettter as a beer keg. That's just my personal opinion.
Most of these things are editable but the scale changes would require some extensive work to reposition things. Would have been nice if these things were more carefully considered. All-in-all it is a nicely detailed set!
Edited: I wanted to add some positives to my review:
The foosball table and details of dirtyness/worn look of the couches is a nice touch!
I also love the dishvelled look of this being after the party is over, but can easily be used to include characters during the party.
The used alcohol bottles on the top of the refrigerator in the kitchen is a nice touch. Totally apt. Appliances are also college appropriate.
The food choices are good for a party. Some of these college students could be a bit more high class with the wine and cheese.
There are a TON of useful individual props.
The backyard scene is in my opinion the most accurate of the three scenes! I really like the details of the light bulbs lighting, the lawn chairs and the garbage in the corner.

There is one big omission for me: ashtrays, half-smoked and cigarette butts. Or did the party take place with a total ban on smoking?
The Barbie logo, I think that would be a big problem. Also, there's an interesting bug, not a big problem; just make it lean against a wall or lie down.
Looking at the prop list for Party Backyard, which includes three houses, could one of them be a good fit for both the kitchen and living room?

Smoking is illegal in most indoor spaces in the US. I haven't seen an ashtray that wasn't sitting on shelf as a decor element in over a decade. And college kids tend to smoke vapes rather than cigs.
Unfortunately I am seeing more discarded cigarettes on paths, sidewalks, in front of stores, around my apartment than we had 10 years ago, but the left over vape crap is still littering too. I hate it when the smoke is strong enough to blow into my car's windows when I am waiting on a red light or in heavy traffic, or just walking by someone.

Oh interesting l I hadn't really thought about it, but around here... far fewer cigarette butts on roads and such over the past few years, at least where I've been. Have seen occasional vape garbage and booze bottles.
To an earlier comment about the cheese and wine... I never did the college party scene, but cheese wouldn't be weird if it was Minnesota or Wisconsin. Everything comes with cheese. And the wine... two buck chuck for those who don't like beer?
I really loved the kitchen itself. It reminded me of so many older kitchens I've been in. The cupboards and windows just looked right.

I'd also add the fact nothing is rigged, and it just kind of seems it's a collection of props in weird locations. It looks like there's four ways to make coffee in the kitchen. The barbie sign is on the curtain? And some of the wall art in the kitchen is just part of the wall, so you'd have to go in and either change the maps or make it its own surface/prop if you're going to edit them. I have good uses for these but it's going to require quite a bit of scene work, though it's a great foundation to work with.

That kind of sums up my estimate of too many of the "environment" sets being sold today. As they are 'out of the box", a lot of them seem to lack a lot of versatility in terms of how they might be used, with no thought as to how to make them more interactive as something more than what is essentially a 3D backdrop without the moving parts and ability to remove things that would make them more useful in a variety of renders or animations... like doors and drawers that open, bedspreads that can, exteriors outside windows and doors, props that are meant just to be een and not held by a character, etc. To me, this feels kind weird given that DAZ currently seems to be in one of their "let's appeal to people making video games" modes.

I always assume a Daz store asset (and other stores' assets) is designed from the ground up to be used as a backdrop in a one-off image by someone who only makes one-off images like pinups. Any thoughts about the asset being used across many renders, such as in a game or webcomic, is an afterthought, according to my assumptions. In this regard and with these assumptions, I'm rarely disappointed by store assets.
One would think with their "game ready" push, Daz might try to steer the PAs to make more assets that are usable across more than just a pinup or two. But so far, I haven't seen this. There's nothing wrong with making and selling vignettes. But selling an entire "room" should mean that it will function as a room from all angles and one could make it seem like someone lives there without having to kitbash in things like doors that open.

Wow! You're very observant! I see an American-style coffee machine, a semi-automatic espresso machine, a fully automatic espresso machine, a "coffee kettle" which looks a bit like a moka pot, and "kitchen ware 02" which I can't quite make out. Could it be a coffee grinder?
It would be great if this product set had a wider variety of props. There's no need for rooms; there are already too many American-style living rooms and kitchens here. For environmental products, I prefer modular products that can be freely modified. Unless the room or building itself is really unique, props are enough.
I wishlisted it for now and already spent money I really cannot spare these past few days, but am used to breaking up sets, I do it quite a lot using the geometry editor or external software like Carrara
I suspect these are in fact game assets converted for DAZ studio, Polish like a few other PAs is a brokerage and other modellers sell their stuff to DAZ through them including Game Devs and likely are demo scenes they made exported as a solid obj as I often did Unreal Assets in the past
I now use FBX but that while giving separate objects doesn't export any textures so is a lot of work they probably don't want to do
when I say demos, the sets themselves might not even exist as a product, elsewhere, more showcases for a modellers work never meant for anything but renders
I know the Dekadon sets fall somewhat in that category, the showcase scenes are meant as just that, to show off all the assets in the set
I have most of the Polish versions in the original Dekadon Unreal format
It looks like there's four ways to make coffee in the kitchen.

I dunno... if it's supposed to be a college house, I'm not sure four methods of coffee are quite enough.
I'm the only one drinking coffee in this house, and I have two French presses, an espresso machine, and a single-serve. I'd have an automatic drip-style coffee maker as well except I seem to be cursed with those things and can never get the coffee to come out right. (You'd think it would be simple, but apparently not.) I also have a coffee grinder, but it just grinds the beans, it doesn't make the coffee.

The thing is, it hasn't always been that way... I've got quite a few sets that are 10 years old that are superior to most modern sets except in terms of the texture work as they're pre-iray... and while there are other PAs who still go the whole nine yards, and there are yet others who seemed to invest a lot more into their sets in days gone by than they do now.

I've never used those coffee machines. I only have two manual grinders, a few coffee dripper, and a pour-over kettle. Although I'd like to buy an espresso machine, the cost of coffee beans would be too high. Since I started shopping here, I've cut back on my budget, only enjoying a cup or two of truly good coffee on weekends. But in recent years, coffee bean prices have skyrocketed, just like computer hardware.
Needed a break from my current project so I thought I'd throw something together for what's in today's bundles. I didn't want to change anything except lighting for the environment so everything is as-is except I added the water pitcher tray. I can't say I like the fire model much though the lighting is decent on it. I'd probably tweak the wall and floor textures in a real render.
Isabella 9 is a case where there really isn't a "young" Isabella, there is just a late 20's Isabella, and a 30-40 year old Isabella. And I'm not calling those age ranges old, but in the context of the marketing presentation, I expected a fairytale princess, someone 16-20. The only one that looks the proper age for a "young" fairytale Isabella are found in the promos for the included hair: https://www.daz3d.com/gilded-flora-half-updo-for-genesis-9
But that figure shape and skin doesn't seem to be part of Isabella. Really strange.

I'd be surprised to see a new Zelda game so soon, and we're just over 8 months away from the scheduled release of the movie.
Not new, but there is an Ocarina of Time remake in development (releasing this year I think).

I've got quite a few sets that are 10 years old that are superior to most modern sets except in terms of the texture work as they're pre-iray... and while there are other PAs who still go the whole nine yards, and there are yet others who seemed to invest a lot more into their sets in days gone by than they do now.
Anybody knows what character is used in one of the promo images
of dForce Flutterfall Outfit Texture Add-On?

My memory of WI back in the late 90's, even the cheese came with a side serving of cheese
You can see that render used for Isabella 9 too, so, it's her:

I've never used those coffee machines. I only have two manual grinders, a few coffee dripper, and a pour-over kettle. Although I'd like to buy an espresso machine, the cost of coffee beans would be too high. Since I started shopping here, I've cut back on my budget, only enjoying a cup or two of truly good coffee on weekends. But in recent years, coffee bean prices have skyrocketed, just like computer hardware.
Possibly, but from the age look, I think it might be https://www.daz3d.com/isabella-9-older-shape-add-on. Though it could be either.
Takes place at the Queen's Throne at https://www.daz3d.com/xi-fantasy-castle-interior.
Young Isabella's wearing the https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-flutterfall-outfit-for-genesis-9 with her protector regular Isabelle wearing the https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-warrior-queen-style-outfit-for-genesis-9 pleading to the evil Queen Isabella older shape https://www.daz3d.com/isabella-9-older-shape-add-on to stop terrorizing the populace, but the Queen's finding it humorous.
The maid/servant person (https://www.daz3d.com/sepideh-hd-for-genesis-9, not in today's releases) is wearing the Moonveil outfit https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-moonveil-outfit-for-genesis-9 without the cloak which works decently well as this kind of role.
Will a sword battle happen between Isabella and the Queen's bodyguard (Thomas 9)? Who knows!
Thanks. I thought, that it was some other character used.
Actually, yes, but...
