I have alot of RDNA products I would like to see new teradome with daz support. It would be nice to see my products at rdna as smart content.

    YES YES YES YES YES!

As I understand it they've been 'working on it'. The problem was the texturing and finding a way of doing altitude and slope in Studio.

  • Kind of interested in knowing the timeline for the things pre-purchased at RDNA to appear in the accounts here.

RNDA tends to have more interesting products than here at Daz.

But Daz is a very sterile convervative draconian site, and RDNA was always very expressive, creative and artistic.  To people who say daz has dark themes, I think you are missing a lot. It's not about indivudual crummy products, it's the entire feel and support for themes in a genuine way. RNDA had some great lines on their site. RNDA was never scared of embracing ART, Daz still is :/

Precisley and exactly that.   There is  also a move  to always white wash, suppress and poo poo genuine and sincere concerns or greviences.  Not eveyone will be happy with a given change and many customers will have very legitimate gripes. Instead of trying to make ppl feel ashamed for speaking thier minds and being honest e.g. not plastering on fakey smiles, maybe maybe folks should  look at and try to address the concerns. Even if the company is unable to give the customer what they want in the end, the consumer will at least feel as if their  grevience was taken seriously and the company tried.

Much of this is exaggeration. On serious matters DAZ does listen and engage. I don't know where you got the idea they don't. In the end they do what's best for the company and compromise is often part of that. This is why they're so successful and growing.

That's good to hear.  If they move it all here then they will have a plethora of help getting all that figured out!

So i find it idiotic to believe that both parties involved have not figured out how a move this size is to roll out.

What the changes are, and how this whole thing is going to work?

I think everyone is doing the best that they can. I actually think it's better to roll this out while maintaining some flexibility. The merger is a big deal for both companies and involves an army of people, a slew of technological hurdles, and a vocal customer base. In my experience, both RDNA and DAZ have been considerate and responsive towards the customers. It's also a unique business model because many of the vendors on both sites are customers of the other's. Keeping the merger silent until everything was worked out would have been impossible -- talk in this community frequently reminds me of middle school, lol. I think that getting the big news out was important. The details are also important, of course, but many of those can't be cemented until the vendors wrap their heads around everything and decide what they want to do with their products.

here is my biggest question. does this mean you will be encrypting all the products sold there with Daz connect  as well?

As well as what? Daz has firmly said that existing content available via DIM/zip will continue to be available via DIM/zip so I can't imagien the RDNA stuff being encypted now. New content will presumably be treated however new cotnent from current Daz vendors is treated - so far, only a few special items hae been encrypted.

Traveler mentioned in their FAQ that no RDNA content would be encrypted (I assume he was talking about existing stuff).

Q: Will Old Content from RDNA be Encrypted via Connect?
A: None of the migrated products will be encrypted.

Am I the only one NOT happy about this merger? I liked RDNA because they offered a different set of products. Now everything will be lumped together and eliminating another option to find content for my hobby.

    No, you are not alone.

I like going over to RDNA and seeing a different set of items, many of which are Poser compatible (I run Carrara and C8Pro and earlier don't take DUF or Genesis files).

Hell, even here at Daz our freebies have been DUF only for a little while.

Even reliable vendors like ARTCollab and Stonemason have turned away from making items Poser compatible.

I also love the Deep Freeze at RDNA.

That does change my perspective quite a bit. Having co-run a commercial 3d site for a specific games addons, I can relate to the frustration of trying to balance creativity vs admin work. I still would prefer that RDNA was a seperate entity and not part of DAZ, but I can see this as a good move for the people at RDNA and look forward to seeing what new ideas they come up with.

I have/had a Runtime DNA account, but I have not logged in for some time. I did make some purchases in the past. I will look for my login information. My email is likely different, but the name and address on the account would still be the same, so will my account from Runtime DNA be able to be linked up with my Daz account?

Login at Runtime DNA and change your email to match what have here.DAZ_Steve as well as Runtime DNA has stated to do so. I don't believe the "name and address" will play a factor on this but I would make it match also... just to be safe.

To be extra safe I also copied all my ordering info for products purchased there as well as dowoloading all products... nothing like "peace of mind"

  • Poser Users need to be Poser Content Buyers so Vendors will create Poser Content... it is NOT quite the chicken and the egg issue. Mostly it is economic based and that is driven by BUYERS of any Content and then it propogates to Vendors producing more content that sells.

I am excited that some of the toon stuff may be getting written for DAZ. I am a newer user of Daz, so I don't care much about Poser, but as a Content Creator in another space, it is sales that drives MOST of my work. I still do what pleases me, but when there is a toss-up of what work to do... well the bill paying one wins.

Honestly, I think the merger will allow the 2 smaller Poser user bases to get re-united and use their clout to have MORE content created since it will have a wider audience making purchases. Money talks and there is nothing wrong with that. Whiners and naysayers will fall to the wayside soon enough... as a majority, often silent and not on the forum users and buyers will enjoy new content, even if its old content! And of course the larger BUYER base should help push development of more content for both platforms.

So welcome to DAZ. May you all find something new and better over the coming days so we can all do great art whether as a hobby or for commercial endeavors!

  • I'm glad it helped put the truth out to some :) I just imagine if I were Syyd, Colm and Eric and even Daz reading some of the posts here and elsewhere. And not being able to or willing to or comfortable with putting the story out there. It has to be hurtful.

Lady Littlefox did an awesome thing posting it. :)

  • As you're all aware, there has been a lot announced here in the forums over the last two weeks.  We are aware that there are still outstanding questions.  Many of these answers are still in the process of being determined.  As such, I am goign to "un-sticky" this thread.  You will see other threads posted with additional information and announcement in the coming days and weeks.

We hear your questions.  We are aware of them.  We will answer them.

    .

The one thing to remember about the acquisition of Poser Pros was that it all happened under a completely different management.  Everything is still unfolding, though Daz has made several statements if you take the time to read what Steve and Brian have been posting.

There's another important thing to remember. PoserPros was a nice little store, RDNA is a force of art and creativity with, dare I say, its own brand. Along with RDNA we get some terrific PAs and we get Syyd, Colm, and Traveler.

Which makes me very very happy.

I'm curious... by Merged does that mean DAZ bought RuntimeDNA or that they are now in a partnership?

Either way I'm happy for RunDNA that they now have a new home. DAZ I hope this works out as well as you estimated it would and even better since there are many Poser users here already. As far as new customers... DAZ will gain some occasional shoppers or like myself I've always had Poser as well as Studio so shop both sides of the pond... more so here especially since I need to upgrade Poser and have always wanted to take the time to learn Studio. I am a bit sad that the store down the street will soon be closing.

New PAs... Welcome to those that come and stay. I'll find those that go elsewhere.

Current members and PC+ members... time will tell what all this means to us... it's too soon to wonder... even to say for sure... it's too soon for even DAZ to know. I'm hopeing to gain more freebies and a larger PC+ discount... yes I'm wishing for too much but wishing is fee. Picture me with half a sad face... the other side is happy.

    Weep :-(
Deep freeze is already gone ...

And I definitely don't like DOZ playing monopol - runtime was such a fine place to go - history now.
And no, I don't believe DAZ will offer the same stuff as runtime. Because DAZ has other rules, and because some vendors will not be happy to stay with DAZ ...

Exactly my feelings, as Daz vendors migrated from doing Poser and DazStudio capable content to DazStudio only my purchasing migrated more and more to RDNA and the other big two Poser content sites, seing RDNA annexed by the DazStudio site (and the Daz installer which forces you to install stuff to where it wants) means the former RDNA vendors will no longer be making products usable in Poser. :(

PoserPros was 'annexed' but RDNA content is being merged. DIM, the DAZ installer, lets you install wherever you want. I have several runtimes filled with Poser content installed with DIM.

edit: never mind, found the other thread

We are working to link up customer accounts between the two sites, and as we migrate products over they will be added to your account here at Daz.

Does this mean Daz will be offering support for little fox star character?

Littlefox said on FB that she'll be moving to DAZ (and will go on supporting poser too), so probably.

    And the unicorn too!

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,343

Ooooooo, I can't wait for the toon Unicorn to this store.  Had my eye on that for a while but then got busy and it's just sitting my cart at RDNA but at this point, money is an issue but that's OK.  Hopefully it lands here and will be on sale and I can finally get a copy!

  • Because I don't think people understand this word completely:

    noun, plural monopolies.

    1. exclusive control of a commodity or service in a particular market, or a control that makes possible the manipulation of prices.

    Compare duopoly, oligopoly.

    2. an exclusive privilege to carry on a business, traffic, or service, granted by a government.

    3. the exclusive possession or control of something.

Daz is in no way, shape, or form a Monoply yet I keep seeing that term slung around. Go search "3d content for poser & daz studio" on google and, not including the free sites, there are FIFTEEN sites that sell content just in the first 5 page alone.

I get people are prone to knee jerk reactions but exageration isn't really fair to anyone invlolved.
