here is my biggest question. does this mean you will be encrypting all the products sold there with Daz connect  as well?

As well as what? Daz has firmly said that existing content available via DIM/zip will continue to be available via DIM/zip so I can't imagien the RDNA stuff being encypted now. New content will presumably be treated however new cotnent from current Daz vendors is treated - so far, only a few special items hae been encrypted.

    Thanks Richard

I have/had a Runtime DNA account, but I have not logged in for some time. I did make some purchases in the past. I will look for my login information. My email is likely different, but the name and address on the account would still be the same, so will my account from Runtime DNA be able to be linked up with my Daz account?

Probably not automatically, since they asked to set the same address at RDNA. Now that can certainly be handled manually if you can't change it, open a support ticket in that case.

Could someone from DAZ clarify that if an RDNA PA decideds to not come over to DAZ that content I purchased from that PA will still be migrated over and be added to my account here? Also, will the RDNA content eventually be updated with metadata and made available via DIM? That would be huge in my book (especially having it show up in Smart Content).

  • RNDA has had some interesting, and a few very good products. I bought some costumes that were very advanced, things you simply don't see on the Daz site. They were a real puzzle to install, so hopefully that is something Daz will address.
This suggests that their big product, TerraDome2, a morphing landscape with atmospheric effects, will be converted for Daz Studio. It looks impressive but is only available right now for Poser.

Interesting merge, exciting to see where it leads.

  • Exactly my feelings, as Daz vendors migrated from doing Poser and DazStudio capable content to DazStudio only my purchasing migrated more and more to RDNA and the other big two Poser content sites, seing RDNA annexed by the DazStudio site (and the Daz installer which forces you to install stuff to where it wants) means the former RDNA vendors will no longer be making products usable in Poser. :(

    Well, here's the thing.

Poser support has dropped away in the Daz store because most Daz customers have either stopped using/caring about Poser, or most Poser folks have wandered off to other stores. Which tends to snowball.

An influx of folks who use and like Poser could change that; if there's actually people here willing to buy Poser content, well... vendors will follow suit.

I mean, sure, some RDNA folks will REFUSE to shop here, but I suspect most will at least try it out.

Valid points, but you're forgetting one thing: Many Poser users have moved away from Daz figures. As I very much doubt Daz will accept content for these non-Daz figures, these users won't be coming here regardless.

  • I Love Daz and I Love RuntimeDNA! This is music to my artist's heart. Keep up the amazingly excellent workwink

No - the email has to be the same ...

I have an account at RDNA that I haven't logged into in a long time, so long that I forgot I even had one there so I doubt if I ever bought anything, but yesterday when I heard the news I did log into an old email and discovered newsletters from way back to current including the newest stating the merger from RDNA.  The only problem is I cannot remember the password for that account and did send a message to Login support there but still haven't heard from them, so if I did make purchases there I have no idea and I assume they are swamped with help requests so who know when I will hear from them, even though I got a message saying an email to change my password was sent to my account...no email to date :(

For me as a poser focused user I'll never get a good buyer at DAZ again - there was a long time ago,
that DAZ was my 3d home and I was a very good customer. But now all the DAZ items to expensive for me as a hobbyuser
and I don't have the time and the desire, extensive sales strategies and sales promotions with if,
but, then, or only if ... skimming through, especially since English is not my native language
and my complexity of DAZ sales programs are simply not understandable. So I stay away DAZ and
buy anything and save my money for other things.
So I'm really very sad about RDNA merges to DAZ but I wish RDNA good luck for their success.

Word!!!! I left Daz a couple of years ago ....

I seem to have attributed to steering this thread off topic a bit which was not my intention. Sorry about that. We probably should get this thread back to the general topic of the merger and any questions that relate specifically to that topic.

I do have an interesting question... will our carts over there be moved here with the vendor artists that will move to DAZ?  Honesly I buy less frequently from RDNA or 'Rosity because of budget, DAZ and the Hive get my money more straight away.  I do have some items in my RDNA cart so just wondering if that will be transferred over here as well?  Thanks!

It doesn´t mind me if RDNA is independend or part of DAZ as long as the vendors from RDNA will be able to produce their kind of stuff (i own much from them and it is so great, Sydd, Pixeluna, Mortem Vetus, Brahann, Dark Edge,......).

As long as they are able to to offer their kind of stuff it is ok (i hope DAZ will not give restrictions to them). I hope when the stuff from RDNA for DAZ Studio is moved to DAZ we will get metadata for it.

If RDNA "only" merges with DAZ because of financial problems so there is a chance that they can still produce their line - better than vanquishing. I still am so sorry that Sanctum Arts are gone and no chance to get the stuff again (thank god that i nearly own most of them).

Daz doesn't give restrictions now so I doubt they will start up on it. I know that they/we are really excited to see a broader range of products and personalities coming to the store.

Traveller mentioned that their servers are swamped at the moment and things like replies are taking much longer...

I can't imagine the carts from one store set up would carry over. Maybe take a screen shot so you remember what it was?

I think it's quite complicated because if the skimpwear sells best then you make that, but then if you only make that it really narrows in the options of your customer base and it's not long before you're thought of as only creating that sort of thing for that sort of market. I would argue that poser-type things are already very niche and if Daz wants to increase its customer base by any real amount, they're going to have to branch out into offering things for more groups. Of course it's not as simple as simply making other items, but it's something to keep in mind.

I wouldn't disagree with that smiley Honestly, sorting out what a majority will be happy with is complicated IMHO LOL smiley And I do think it is worth branching out or trying things that potentially haven't done well in the past on occasion because sometimes it's a matter of "what it was specifically" vs " the general style it was". People may like everyday clothing but perhaps did not like "that specific" outfit. And you can paint yourself into a specific genre doing it so much people become unsure about how well you do something else. Personally, I wish there was some solid way to be able to gauge how well something will be received but if there is a way, I've not personally found it other than going by plain ole trial and error and then crunching numbers smiley

    Try Kickstarter.

Personally, if a PA was cautious, and I was interested I would back it.

Slightly off topic, but still appropriate; how the two comunities differ is important, and buying habits and products will be part of that.

There is a Figure filter you could use to restrict the search to certain figures, perhaps one of the bokmarklet hackers coudl make one that would simply exclude Genesises.

But what if you are searching for a vehicle or an environment. Many of those have no figure compatibility at all.

A software filter would be much easier to use, not only for Poser users but also for Carrara or Bryce users.

Only use Daz (and Blender); I'm a G3 user and finding stuff that isn't figure orientated can be a pain. Hell I was looking for something I thought I'd bought and ended up googling it.

edit: never mind, found the other thread

We are working to link up customer accounts between the two sites, and as we migrate products over they will be added to your account here at Daz.

Does this mean Daz will be offering support for little fox star character?

Littlefox said on FB that she'll be moving to DAZ (and will go on supporting poser too), so probably.

    Ooh, that's exciting news!

Agree. I've been on the fence about a couple of their figures.

  • Hai..welcomez to Daz3d...you have always had some really nice stuff and am lookzin forward to see what new and excitign thingz U iz be offer to Daz...but a few queries/thoughts

First off -the declaration..iz be only use Daz, only into 3d art for last couple of yearz and stayed with same platform and I like it. I have purchased some items on the RDNA store but my account namez iz different. How do I insure they are linked so my RDNA items will migrate successfully?

Second - Please...please please please...continue to support Poser...in a free market competition iz be healthy and while I iz be a daz user I iz not want to see your Poser Content removed over time,

Lastly - Agree with several posters...keep your RDNA galleries. Why? Well iz not be advocating exsessive gore or profanity but any traditional art student iz be tell you -there iz nothing inherently wrong with a naked or semi nude body...and while I iz sign up and agree to the gallery terms here, iz be nice to have another gallery to be able to post more "risque" work if I want while still staying tasteful.

That iz be it, exceptz to say welcome again :)

Hello Dimples, as long as your emails are the same your accounts will merge automatically.

As a user of both Poser and DAZ as well as a customer at both sites, I am happy to hear this news.  I wonder if the freebie items from RDNA will continue to be offered at this site though.

I hope this means that RDNA content will now be available in DIM format.

That format is easiest to use.  I have even made a script for my personal use to convert RDNA content to DIM.

Getting content in multiple small sized zips has always been a detractor to me.  It may have been necessary in the days of dial-up when you couldn't count on connections to stay up long enough to download any thing of substantial size.

  • Well, congratulations to Daz and RuntimeDNA,we all hope this merger will bring new and exciting Daz/RuntimeDNA products to the loyal customers of DAZ.

    Cheers!

Well, I have some products from RNDA and they are great so far (creatures for example). I am looking forward to see some of their great artists join the DAZ family smiley ... good news

  • Very nice indeed!

  • I am very concerned about this. I am a sole Poser user and have seen Poser support in DAZ dwindle, with regards to the number of new products released by DAZ that do not support Poser. Is this the first step by DAZ in an attempt to reduce Poser support, in the general community? Do they have other Poser sites in their sights?

  • I almost entirely stopped shopping with DAZ because I have an issue with G3 content (dull, repetitious, bland, and aetherial catwalk model male figures) and was delighted to find what I wanted at RDNA. I'm guessing this probably isn't great news for me, and I only hope the extremely talented content providers selling there are still given carte-blanche to do great stuff.

Poser support at DAZ has gone down because customers went away so vendors were less and less interested in selling poser items here (which in turn got more poser users leaving, and so on), not because DAZ stopped accepting poser items.
If RDNA vendors who decide to move to DAZ bring poser customers back here then some vendors who stopped supporting poser might change their minds.
