I just picked up the Ranger Bundle for Genesis 2 Female - it had been on my wishlist for ages but when I saw I could nab it for just over $3 I had to finally grab it! I'm glad I did! It does nicely with Filatoon. The gloves were a bit fiddly to transfer to Filatoon, but I finally got it worked out. The rest of it did great "out of the box" with the FilaToon settings.
That’s the problem when a new Words of War’s extension is finally live: at one point, you may lose a sense of time, at least if you can immerse fully in it.
Judging by how many screenshots both Lacey and Victoria had taken, they went all in.
As usual, all items should be list in the gallery.
One of the sweetest purchases this month has been PFA's Cressida. She's going to be perfect for a story I've had marinating for a couple of years, but first I wanted to just try some renders with her. (I altered the lighting for the last two renders.)
tsroemi and xyer0 Thank you both so much! Cressida is so darling, I'm really enjoying working with her. I hope you two share your renders with her as well - I'd love to see them, here or in PFA's thread or both! I might share a few more on his thread for her, since I definitely want to try to make a child version and a grandmother version of her for my little fairytale story.
While enjoy pretty pictures everyone's sharing, I just discovered a very important aspect of this thread: prompting users to test the items as they get them (something I need to get better at). Why? I was playing around with AB Dokkalfar for Genesis 9 which I got "ages ago" and loved, but only after doing closeups I discovered that there's only one skin for male and female, which is not a biggie, but that skin has facial hair (shaved, but dark and visible) baked in, making it pretty much useless for female use unless in the background. This was not visible at all in promo renders and is extremely disappointing, and of course, I'm long past the return window had I chosen to do so (I like the shapes enough to still use them, just with different skins, but I'm seriously considering not buying anything from that vendor anymore).
So the lesson is: don't be like me and RENDER YOUR BUYS, EVERYONE.
I attached to renders with the closeup of the skins on the face and neck. I didn't do cleavage, even partial, for "forum mods" reasons, but it actually has a some long hair strands baked in.
Edited to add: yes, the product lists "2 base materials," but the renders were made with "female base materials," so it looks like it uses the same skin.
Last week I picked up https://www.daz3d.com/easy-filatoon from @3Diva and have been having a lot of fun with it, mostly converting characters I created and putting them in new scenes. It is a great product. My ONLY complaint is with myself, for not getting it on Day One. (Some of my others are in the Easy Filatoon commercial thread.)

You're welcome. The shapes are nice and the skin works nice on the guy, so I suppose it might be one of those "when it's cheap enough." Definitely not worth paying a lot for it.

Yeah that's definitely a good utilization of this thread. I've spent a lot lately and I've neglected posting test renders myself. It'll be a good little project to show some random stuff this weekend.
I know we've reverted to mostly posting finished and nice pictures in here. After joanna's comment, I thought it might be nice to have a dedicated Render your buys! Testing thread, where we can unashamedly post our quick and messy tests, mention issues and maybe our own solutions if we have them, lavish praise for things we didn't even realize were included etc. etc. Viewport captures, scenes with random new things all thrown together, everything goes! And we can spam the thread with as many posts as we want and not feel bad.

"Render your buys" - I am super guilty of not utilizing all of my products. There are times I go on a splurge, and don't use many items I purchased. I guess I can get that Daz shopaholic syndrome - it's bad for my pocketbook - but hey I got close to 10,000 items. I think Daz should have a section in the Gallery that is for renders of Victoria 4 era, Genesis2, and Genesis 3. A Gallery for each generation - No AI allowed. Just the Render and postwork. IDK I think it would be cool.

Please share your thoughts: Is that thread superfluous, or do we want to give it a go?
I think it's a great idea. I wasn't sure if I should post my "disappointed" post here with renders that were quick and showing only specific aspect of the model, so a thread like that will be useful.
Totally agree that a "test what you buy render thread" is good idea too.
I had picked up the hair and the outfit this week and just tried a test render. How the textures react to light is always worth cheking out as early as possible.
TY3DArt That's what the Render your buys! threads are for - to get you to use a little more of what you've bought. Pretty sure there are quite a few DAZaholics in this thread including myself... So definitely join in! There's also the Render your buys! All time challengesthread where anything goes, and we often pick out some ancient stuff to render, because those are still cool!
I think it's a great idea. I wasn't sure if I should post my "disappointed" post here with renders that were quick and showing only specific aspect of the model, so a thread like that will be useful.
joanna You absolutely were supposed to post about that in here! The whole idea was to try out our buys, put up our test and finished renders whether pretty or not. But human psychology. I think we all got rather self-conscious pretty early on about posting stuff that wasn't quite finished and worried about posting too often maybe.
But no matter. With the new thread, hopefully we can still post our finished stuff here, but totally spam that one with our daily tests and push ourselves to really try out our buys!
FirstBastion That's a very sweet render. Yeah, anything that can get me and all of us to actually test out more of my buys and so remember to use them later is a good thing!!
This is a result that somehow turned up when I was rendering Cressida, but with some mixed up left-over render settings still in the scene. It's a bit 1960-ish, isn't it? The graphic style I mean? Weird. Anyways, I was kind of surprised, but I like its softness, and Cressida was very nice to work with. All the product links are in the gallery, but another new thing I used was the SU Bear Suit which fortunately let me hide the bear face ;-)
The lowdown was no prince came. A jab of Narcan awakened So Tite. Also, there was an 8th lil guy: Pimpy. So Tite had to leave the forest to escape her stepmother, and Pimpy said he would help her find a place in the city. Poison Apple indeed.
Sorrow can be the gate to salvation.
PFA Cressida's head, but I went anime with the expressions. I got XI Classic Sedan because there were no late 60s & 70s models suitable for a pimpmobile, no Cadillac, Lincoln Continental, not even an Oldsmobile. I used the Cadillac insignia and hubcaps from my '53 Cadillac Fleetwood by Ourias3D at Renderosity.
tsroemi That does indeed have a retro feel with the muted colors and soft lighting. Cressida has a lovely pensive expression in your render!
xyer0 That's quite a scene. That camera lens perspective is very cool!
Thank you, 'retro feel' was exactly the word on my tongue that I couldn't find :-) - The pose and expression are both from one of breeze's sets, very little modified. These are always really nice, I use them a lot.

That's a lovely render! I don't know how this character slipped through my radar. What an adorable looking character! I do like that haizy dream-like effect you did too. As Bob Ross was fond of saying, we like "happy accidents"!

Nice find! It looks great.
Same, thanks for pointing this out Paula! And the render ist gorgeous, I love the soft realistic light.

The wonder of a bird

King of the forest

@SapphireBlue, these are lovely renders you made of Cressida, the lighting is gorgeous!
I agree! Such a mood.

Rendering WITH My New Buy!

https://www.daz3d.com/topsy-8 (as Liane the Halfling), https://www.daz3d.com/labrador-for-daz-dog-8, & Hypertaf's wonderful Pocket the Miniature Horse, upsized a bit so he can be ridden. They are out for a carefree romp on the https://www.daz3d.com/path-to-greywood.
Thanks for sharing this information. I was thinking about the product but will probably pass now.
