    First time use by me of several items including Sophia 9 and In Design Studio Props, but only two were qualifying recent purchases: Flower Chique Jewelry, Sexy Skinz Jeans & Things

    Okay, I finally got a new one, using the new cameras https://www.daz3d.com/iray-cinematic-cameras like Sapphire Blue did, but nothing as fancy, 'cause this is my first foray into depth of field. Also new (for me at least) is Noemi by Bluejaunte (https://www.daz3d.com/noemi-hd--smile-hd-expression-for-genesis-8-female). The basset is from Lyne's animals I think, I can't remember exactly where I got it. I'm quite happy with the general vibe, but I think I accidentally put the figure's face slightly outside of the focus area. Never mind though, I still really liked the overall effect. The lovely lighting and puddles are from After Rain 2 (https://www.daz3d.com/after-rain-2). I'll put everything else with the gallery image as usual.

    "Shades of Orange after Rain" (well ... duh ...)

    Oh that's lovely! And if her face is a little out of focus... well, I think it's perfect just as it is.

    Thank you, you're really so kind. Once the render is finally done, one always wants to go back and start right over, no? But with the laptop taking over an hour for even this little piece, it just isn't feasible for me, and I often have to take them as they come. Well, I did postwork the holes out of her sock. Anyways, I do hope that people can see how useful those new cameras are! And also the lovely Noemi gets another outing.

    I'm so excited.... I rarely do this, but I bought a thing while it's still new. My rule is that it has to solve a significant and immediate problem, and https://www.daz3d.com/wayfinder-sign-generator finally fixed my hold-up with being able to do text to get my graphic novel ideas up and running. I know there are specific-to-comic products out there, but my own aesthetic, I just feel like the traditional word bubbles and such clash with the photorealistic aspect I'm going for. So I took a chance with this, because it looks really versitile, and wow it paid off.

    Super rough test render below (the scene itself is about 1/4 done, but I was impatient). I need to fiddle around with it a bit more to experiment with how I want things to blend... but seriously, this was so easy to use, and the documentation was top notch, even at the end of a long day when my eyes tend to glaze over trying to learn new things.

    And it's solved my problem entirely. Thank you to the PA!!! It was worth every cent, and I can't wait to experiment with it more!!

    @SilverGirl thanks for the render, it's clarified that I can use this product how I intend. Still on wishlist but may have to pull the trigger

  • tsroemitsroemi Posts: 3,460

    @SilverGirl, how clever of you to use it this way, I hadn't even thought about this! And it looks really good, even if you're still 'fiddling'. The generator is on my WL anyway, but I'll kind of shove it up more to the top now.

  • SilverGirlSilverGirl Posts: 2,803

    Glad you both found value in my trial of concept! I threw a satin shader at the base texture of the box, and I feel like it kept it from looking too stark and flat. I want to try with some others as well, see how it looks.

    One of the things that won me over about this set is that you can make a box like I did, but I need the writing to literally be on the wall sometimes, and it'll do that, too. I just used the first font that popped up, but I also like that my whole extensive library is up for grabs. I want to do color/font coded to character, so that's possible as well.

    Lots of nice renders (including ones I'll not quote !).

    A lenght morph on a skirt that can add enough lenght to end under the knee is not that common.

    She seems to have the time of her life :)

    I don't know if it could apply to your situation, and you may already know about them, but Weight Mapped Push Modifiers can help a lot to deal with pokethroughs when layering clothes from various products. If you have clothes by Mada, the ones with dForce usually have a WMPM already applied, and there is a tutoriel explaining how to use the ones Mada created (which is used exactly how every other one is used).

    ArtCollaboration shared a tutorial about using them (to deform a body), explaining how to create one for items who don't have one already:

    I don't remember if she's speaking about hidding clothes with, but it's usually done by placing the push modifier onto the clothes to hide (setting a negative value for that Push Modifier), except when you have to hide them behind something a bit too open ended (like strappy shoes), in this case, it's can be better to place the push modifier onto the clothes on top of the other (with a positive value). And of course, you can use two push modifiers, one on each piece of clothing if needed.

    I'm definitely not a dog person but this one look cute with how they are watching their owner, and the overall render is nice :) It gave the mood of being at the dusk of a rainy day, when rain finally stopped obscuring the sun :)

    If you want a very short video on DoF, with a couple of useful tips, here is one where Jay Versluis and Colm Jackson are speaking about DoF:

    -------

    I have a new render, done for 'Llola Lane’s RENDER A MONTH Challenge 2025' with some products bough recently:  it is called 'Morning stroll in Tokyo' (but maybe Street of Japan 2 is supposed to be about Kyoto

    New products are:

    I got the first threes during the poses flash sale, and got the other two a couple of days later because I wanted the base outfit and some textures too :)

    I didn't list Victoria's and Lacey's poses, not because it's my own creation (I wish I was able to pull something like that off, maybe one day, in the meantime, as the saying goes, 'for everything else, there's Mastercardlaugh) but because it's a product by @ParallaxCreates which was recently pulled from the store, so not linkable anymore.

    Outside of Lacey's arm carrying the umbrella everything is as close as possible to the original poses (made for Victoria 8.1 and Michael 8.1 and G8F / G8M).

    A short story:

    Victoria and Lacey were enjoying a lovely morning stroll in Tokyo, in the neighbourhood around their hotel.

    *grumble grumble*

    *sshhhhh*

    Taking to heart the advice of someone living in Japan they both followed on Youtube, Lacey carried their umbrella, to protect them from the already hot and aggressive sun.

    *Wait, wait, it’s not pos… *

    At the corner of two small streets, they made a pause and ended with Lacey leaning toward Victoria…

    *It’s not possib…*

    *WE KNOW IT’S A DREAM! You’re supposed to be the rational part among us, you don’t need to be the obnoxious one either. Let us enjoy a happy dream!*

    Outside of the dream, in their flat in the US, unaware of the bickering between parts of her brain, Victoria moved a bit in her sleep, snuggling closer to Lacey before jumping right in a new sleep cycle, hoping the dream would resume right after it was stopped.

    Big heartto everyone sharing renders!

    tsroemi - I thought I'd left a comment before, but apparently not... Love the warm color palette and dreamy introspective composition. Oh that basset hound and its big eyes! Might have to track him down. Beautifully done!

    SilverGirl - That's a creative use of the wayfinder sign generator. It's now on my wishlist - you've persuaded me to get it sooner than later. smiley

    paulawp - Your girl looks neat! Playing dress-up in DAZ is sooo much fun.

    Elor - Your two girls are always sweet. Love the play of light and shadows in the render.

    I've been all shopped-out this past week or two, but that's meant more time to do some focused renders. I finished up this music video this week for a song I made for a music challenge. This was so much fun. I just love how creative we can get using DS and a handful of items.

    The renders are colorful and bright to match some synth-pop/synthwave vibes, and feature some of HM's items.
    I have a few of his older G8/8.1 bundles, with outfits that are sexy but in a super high-fashion, artistic, totally impractical way that are fun for stylistic renders.

    His outfits always have amazing detail, with different fabrics in the same outfit - leather, plastic, different types of cloth, metal; with subtle prints, detailed textures, wrinkles and scratches/wear. And they look tactile and really nice close up. His shoes are always so fun! He's also got a great eye for color.

    I used his Lyanna bundle for this set of renders, his silkmoto motorbike (with nice scratch details and vivid color options), and started with his Kharia character for the girl before adding other morphs.

    New purchases used in these renders include HM's Lyanna bundle and also KA's cinematic cameras again. KA's cameras offer a quick way to test out what might work for a scene and provide a really nice starting point. Other than sharpening some of the renders a little (because of the amount of light, bloom and DOF I used), these are straight-up DAZ.

    Haven't had any silly underwear renders in a while, so here's a couple using recent sets.

    Gallery Link

    Top and stockings from https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-40s-liberty-lingerie-for-genesis-9-and-genesis-8-female with the bottom and girdle from https://www.daz3d.com/50s-darling-dforce-lingerie-for-genesis-9-and-8-female (because I preferred the combination).

    I do like vendors doing genuinely vintage clothing, and vintage underwear is a useful addition to that. Even if, despite a cast with a whole load of mythological creatures, I've actually got few who were alive during the 1940s. (Most of my elves are still fairly normal human ages, albeit looking very good for those ages. Which is why you're getting Emma).

    And what's allegedly a "festival outfit", https://www.daz3d.com/festival-summer-angel-outfit-for-genesis-9 (although I can't say I'd particularly recommend it for traipsing through a manure inundated farm field).

    As a correction (not that I expect everyone to correctly remember the names of my entire cast), Emma isn't in the latest one.

    Emma's the ghoul - a 1st century Celt who claims to be one of the daughters of Boudicca. (Although whether or not she actually is Iceni royalty, Emma is just the latest in the many names she's taken over the centuries).

    The android is Athena - a (mostly retired) prototype AI super-soldier.

    Within my canon, autonomous weapons are more or less banned. The loop-hole if you want a super-soldier* is to put a sapient AI into a military chassis, because any AI that has a legal status as a person counts as a soldier rather than a weapon. Of course, them having free will and legal rights then means they get all kinds of funny ideas of what they'd rather be doing instead of blowing people up.

    * Cybernetic interfaces and human enhancement would technically be another workaround, but they're still in a rudimentary stage and even at their best would be nowhere close to the capabilities of the existing AI super-soldiers, so funding isn't really there.

    Thank you for the correction -- I prefer to get the right names when I can.

    I was actually referring to the centaur, who for some reason my brain attached the "Emma" to. Can you refresh me on her name please?

    She's Jade - which is not one of my most imaginative names, as ultimately her skin and part of her shape are Jada 8.1. She was originally quickly put together to be an extra to fill out a scene, but grabbed people's attention and I got various requests for more renders with her, and the placeholder name mostly stuck.

    Over some number of renders, she ended up established as a fashion model and cosplayer, mostly because it was funny dressing her in all those things.

    ~~~~~
    For the sake of posting some rendering while I'm here... X-Fashion Kitty Lingerie is not a new product, but it was a purchase from just a few days ago, so I'll count it as from a recent sale.
    I'm always on the lookout for underwear sets that can be used as everyday wear, and while I had to strip parts out and edit the materials to make it less lacy, I think it's servicable. (It's also one of very few front clasp sets on the store)
    I've converted it to G8F here as well (it helps having a work-in-progress toolkit for quickly generating corrective morphs).
    Yeah, likewise. I mean, I don't do anything with lingerie anyway, but out of curiosity I clicked the link to see what the starting product looked like.
    The way the straps pull in a little due to the lace bit around the neck/upper chest... you did a great job removing that effect in your version. Can't even tell it used to be there.
    Nice work, guys.
    Attached is my contribution, a spur of the moment inspiration. I saw the Frontier outfit and Thida on sale on sale yesterday and they suddenly came together in my mind. So I bought them and dabbled a bit. I probably didn't spend enough time figuring out the presentation (I'm always in a hurry), but I liked the concept. I'm still wrestling with Ron's Vintage Brushes though. I'm thinking the color of the brush could be lighter, but I've run out of energy. Perhaps it will come to me later.  I'm thinkin next I will age up Thida and put grandma and grand daughter in a traditional portrait for my next project.
    Anyway, the assets (Thida, Frontier, Vintage Brushes) are top notch.
    Happy Rendering!
    There's a few sets that become reasonably normal if you make them less transparent and remove a few superfluous bits.
    Although in this case I had overlooked this one for a while until I was looking over xtrart's catalogue again (for a long time their sets have had no clasp around the back, which put me off them, but they've made that effort more of late) and I twigged that it was a decent front clasp set (and technically has nothing around the back either, but at least it's got more excuse for it).
    The way the straps pull in a little due to the lace bit around the neck/upper chest... you did a great job removing that effect in your version. Can't even tell it used to be there.
    Well, I am known for slightly intricate alterations to the fit of various garments.
    Sailboats
    The first render of my Greek adventure. I have stripped out the house and have yet to fully furnish it, I didn't like the ocean or seabed provided so I bought Muelsfell's Vast Ocean which I'd previously wishlisted. The HdRI is the venerable MauiA which makes an acceptable Greek Isles substitute. The boats are from Ansiko's Mediterranian Seashore.
