Finally getting back to rendering after all the holiday buying. I did this last night to try out some of my newest goodies. I'd made a comment about using Succubus Tara as an alien, and I wanted to try out Sylvia as well. That's how they ended up patrolling this isolated corridor on a random space station that's no doubt about to be invaded by something worse than a fantasy demon.
I don't think I've used strand based hair before, but it was in the Sylvia 9 character bundle. I was pleasantly surprised that it played so well with my aging, highstrung system (nicknamed HAL9000 2.0) The corridor proves that there is some use for all. Those. Halls & Rooms we get as Plus/Premier freebies - great to toss in a scene when your new virtual friends just need a place to be. Liquid Halo is one of my Golden Oldie faves & it autofitted really well to Sylvia & Tara, except the LH blasters & holsters kept ignoring the Parent in Place and Fit To.
Had a little time this holiday weekend to test some new stuff. I might have gone with a smidge less over-the-top presentation of the dress, but it appears the poses with this set pose the figure and the garment, and aside from deleting and re-loading the dress (which I'd already textured with Lully's Colors - definitely becoming a go-to favorite) it wasn't obvious to me how to un-pose the dress.
Lully's Colors ... again. Freebie, no longer available. Also used the earrings from the FK dfForce Charmed Soul set, but in this last version, I switched to a hair that covers her ears.
I used a lot of stuff I got in the holiday sale for this. You can see the full list of what was used in my gallery here (sorry for being lazy, I had to do this long list in my gallery twice .... long story).
Story:
Queen Ixchel stood on the edge of the hidden trail, her eyes scanning the dense foliage ahead. The sun high in the noon sky, casting shadows that danced with the whispers of the forest. Her warriors, a formidable force of skilled fighters, followed behind her. Queen Ixchel had led her warriors through the winding trail, their footsteps barely making a sound on the forest floor. The air was thick with anticipation, every rustle of a leaf or snap of twig heightened their senses. This trail was known only to the Amazons, a secret path that wound through the heart of their realm, leading to the secret tunnel to the outside world. The safety of their realm depended on the success of their mission to ensure the caves hidden entrance had not been compromised.
One day, while reading the local newspaper, a photo caught Lacey's eyes.
Under the article's title, 'Jazz Concert for the grand reopening of the newly renovated Rising Sun', the saxophonist was no more and no less than the man who played for both of them last June, during Music World Day.
'What a perfect timing', she thought, before booking two tickets.
She almost forgot to make sure Victoria was not planning something for the same evening, and a couple of days ago, both dressed to the nines, they sat on the first row and had a fantastic evening, far from the turmoil of the outside world.
All items used are in the gallery. Recently bought items:
Not a very developed piece, but I came up with a new method to fit shoes to the hooves of my succubus character, and I used dForce SU Sexy Sweater Set as part of the scene.
I was trying out CJ Raine HD For Genesis 9 with Daz+ inspiration contest being an excuse, and it's probably the closest to a Valentine's Day render I'll get. I like the model, and I'll likely use her again. Other items in the gallery.
The DAZ+ inspiration contest is also getting me to finally try some of my new buys. I tried out XI Japanese Town and did a couple of cinematic story renders, using much older buys like Toshi and other things for the first time as well.
@acb > Wow. It does look great (I suppose you have used Hat check to put the hair under the whatever it is called in english she's wearing over her hair ?)
@Matt_Castle > the top is drapping a bit strangerly under her right arm (I have it too but I don't remember if changing the dForce weight map node helps or not in this area) but, hum, why would a succubus need boot over her hooves ? It's not like she's trying to be discreet with the whole 'I have horns and a demon tail' business
@joanna > Great render with a great character (I love her face, I was close to buying this character, but I already have too many sitting unused in my library).
@SapphireBlue > I like the whole atmosphere, the bloomy lights and the camera behind his shoulders, capturing the moment before the action start.
Regarding the bloom, is everything done in Daz Studio (I rarely use bloom so I don't know what's possible or not with it) or did you do some postwork ?
------
A simple portrait, using Hanako 9, Dawn over Kyoto. I got her Pro bundle last month, when someone at Daz decided to offer discount stacking through the roof, on my subscription last day with two coupons unused.
No real story, just some ideas thrown at the wall (see the gallery) but I mainly wanted a portrait using Old Kyoto as a backdrop.
Link to the items used in the gallery. The yukata is freebie is availabe on ShareCG, by yomiuri (a G8F version is also available):

Elor Thank you!
Regarding the bloom - it's mostly done in Daz Studio for these two renders. For the first image I had bloom on medium high in DS, but upped it just a little bit and softened it in post. For the second image, all the bloom effects are from the DS render. (Since the bloom effects were pretty heavy already in the second render, especially due to the narrow DOF, I didn't do anything to that aspect in post.)
Otherwise, both images did go through a little bit of postwork - a bit of color grading and grain - only because I wanted the clean renders to have a little more of a gritty look.
Your Hanoko render is very pretty! I also want to put the Old Kyoto set to use soon. And thank you so much for sharing about the freebie Yukata outfit! I was looking for a G9 kimono or yukata this week for my renders, since the G8 ones may give me some autofit/dForce troubles on G9.
@Matt_Castle > [...] but, hum, why would a succubus need boot over her hooves ? It's not like she's trying to be discreet with the whole 'I have horns and a demon tail' business
If she went bare-hoof, she'd track mud about the house every time she came indoors, and that would just be silly. And steel shoes would scrape up the floor horribly.
(Ultimately, creature races being fully dressed is an established part of my setting; it helps establish the tone of the society.)
I sadly haven't had a lot of time play with Daz lately, but I do have some time today. I'm pretty happy with the new Charlie 9 bundle items which I'm just starting to test.
And, even though he's ultimately a Face Transfer 2 character, there's a fair amount Charlie in there - my textures, on the underlying Charlie 9 materials, with a significant amount of Charlie 9 Foxtrot shape (and tiny bits of some other shapes) dialed in.
Finally purchased some MM items yesterday!
I usually tweak characters quite a bit, but kept Yazz as is except for expression and longer eyelashes (and postwork.) I'm really liking MB characters, one of my new fave character creators.
And agreed on MB. I like their characters, and I like how they stepped up after the initial issues with duplicate formulas!
Thanks! I'm still getting duplicate formulas with G8 and not sure what is causing it (pre-MB), but G9 loads fine and MB seems to have fixed their errors. There is a similarity in their mouth style but I like that look and often blend their characters a bit with others to "cutify" them lol.
Today I made a number of purchases, including Ensley HD with Expression for Genesis 9 (yes I also have her for G8, thank you bluejuante for your wonderful effort giving both life!); Lovely Earring Collection for Genesis 9 (I missed them when they came out last week for DAZ+ and I love delicate earrings suitable for young teens), PTF Sci-Fi HDRI Lighting (love lighting sets, never have enough) and four other items that I didn't use for this render. But the other PAs should thank The AntFarm and his Crater Miners for pushing me to make this purchase and an update from Code 66.
I will advise anyone using the Josie outfit to expand the top before simulation if you are bending the arms, as there is no adjustment at the elbow. I had to use Mesh Grabber to close the rather large hole on the right elbow.
nemesis10 Serene capture! I supposedly have Zen Moods, my product library tells me. I think I should try it out soon...
Wonderland I love the soft painterly feel your render of Yazz has. She looks lovely. Nicely done!
paulawp (marahzen) That's a very lovely capture! The fur looks really good. Darn it, I have to try US2 - haven't tried it since I got it on release. Something's messed up with my install too I think.

'Two power two' new items bought last month for the Daz+ monthly challenge, 'There can be only TWO!'
‘You do know that the only horses I have ever used to move from one point to another where the ones at the front of a car, the mechanical kind of car,’ asked Victoria when Lacey spoke about a vacation in Canada.
‘I spent my youth either on the back of a horse or reading every Black Stallion books I could get my hands on,’ answered back Lacey, ‘and we’ll be going to a cousin of my mom. She and her husband know what they’re doing. Everything will be fine’
Utillizing the new Iray Rainbow product released today. It's quite versatile!
Hmm... I might be blind, but I don't see any "new rainbow iray products" in today's new releases. Link?
Edit: after digging through the wesbite not logged in, I'm guessing you mean this product: https://www.daz3d.com/iray-rainbow-fx from three years ago? You got me hopeful there for a moment... ;)

Ah I misred the promotion. Well, it's still good! $2.99 was a good price for it. I've been wanting a new Iray rainbow product with an updated unicorn for a while. A great bundle idea that should come out this week. Anyway, I made a better, alternate version:
I ran across an item with unexpected broader utility while testing new stuff this morning. The EZ dForce Larry Hair is a perfectly reasonable short hair if you're needing one, but hidden in the product description, it has "graying presets" that can be used on any Omni hair to add a more or less subtle touch of gray. Here, I've taken the 50s Classic Cut, used one of the browns from the Omnihair Naturals, then applied one of the several graying presets from the Larry hair. I really like how it looks on some hairs. It's not a perfect gray for every hair, everywhere, ever, but for many short guy hairs, it's nice right out of the box. (I did test it with some success on longer hair, but it needs modifications to the graying maps that come with the Larry hair product.)

It's a really beautiful portrait and I like the use of blue
A portrait (technically a smart content's icon) using the Electric Bucket Bike and FK dForce Charmed Soul Jewelry Set Genesis 9, 8, and 8.1 Female. So I put Ensley in dForce Josie Outfit for Genesis 9, dForce Bodacious Bob Hair for Genesis 9, the earrings, the cat necklace from Felis Hair and Accessories for Genesis 9, 8 and 8.1 Female, and she is sitting on the bench in DM's Plaza Romantica. I tried two render settings from the PTF HDRI set, but the first one was nice but came out too orange, so I went with another that I liked better. I loved how Ensley's facial skin appeared.
I will advise anyone using the Josie outfit to expand the top before simulation if you are bending the arms, as there is no adjustment at the elbow. I had to use Mesh Grabber to close the rather large hole on the right elbow.
