Thoughts on Dforce Alpha Male Outfit:

-this is very straightforward: tunic (with armored components), pants, boots. It haaaates dforcing into sitting poses with a flaming passion, as many dynamic clothes do, no matter the simulation tool. I got two different errors this morning playing with it.

-Based on the name and the overall style, I would guess it was loosely inspired by the meme-friendly "Malhari" victory dance from the film Bajirao Mastani, with the idea of trying to find a compromise between the classical "four mirrors" cuirass the back up dancers wear over their tunics, and the purely ornamental (and very un-dforce-friendly) scales of horn or shell that the main character has sewed on the torso of his tunic.

-If you are back-converting to G3M or G3F (or further back) and using the timeline for dforce simulation, use the G8 base pose (you should have one saved for G3, if you're into back-converting) as a starter pose instead of the G3 starter pose. I'm pretty sure using a G3 starter pose caused the issue you can see in my picture below, where the back left skirt of the tunic tries to wrap around to the front of the left leg.

-One of Ensary's Bollywood poses is used in the picture below, backconverted to G3. Sorry it's a little fuzzy because it's just a "save last draw" render. I have also included a picture (full two-hour render) of the Wanderer outfit on G3M. No postwork was done to either outfit although I used liquify on the Cephalinoid in the Wanderer pic because it didn't look quite right.

After a lot of combining different morphs, I decided that 100% Sanjay with 50% Gui for Mr Woo made a very handsome chap indeed.

He has the beard from Arji and is wearing the Alpha Male outfit (love that stitching), and the Vintage Male Hair for G8M.

Notes on the DForce Wanderer Outfit:

-There are no handheld presets for the weapons. This is kind of implied by the promo art for the base outfit, and by the "What's Included" list but it is not perhaps as explicit as it might be. The sword and knives are individual parented props anchored to the chest armor with rigid nodes. To pose them in the character's hand (as seen in the promo art for the extra texture package), you would have to select them with node select, unparent them (or duplicate node, if you prefer) zero all translations and rotations in the parameters tab, and then manuever it into the character's hand as best you can.

-The textures for the chest armor from the addon set apply as hierarchical materials, meaning that you have to select G8M while he's wearing the chest armor, click on the hierarchical preset, and the material will apply to the chest armor and the weapons. This is a great time saver if you are using the outfit on the figure it is meant for, but if you want to mix and match the weapon styles for some reason, or have back-converted the outfit to an older figure, side-converted it to G8F (or are reading this sometime in the future after forward converting this outfit to Genesis 9000), it will not work. You will need to have a G8M wearing the outfit, apply the different hierarchical presets to him, and then save out the individual materials you wish (will need to node select the prop weapons and save their materials out separately). On the plus side, the PA was nice enough not to make us do this for every single piece of the outfit! Again, this is a perfectly valid design choice, but users need to be aware of it.

-There are 3Delight options for all textures, so kudos for that, and the outfit in the flesh has more panache and looks more realistic than you might expect based on either set of promo art. The main hood morphs seem to be for fitting it over hair more easier.

Thanks very much for sharing that info regarding the outfit.

Sanjay out of the box with his hair and beard set and Sanjay again using the growing up morph set to age gim to 9-10.

The father is trying to wait patiently while his son excitedly tells him about the latest bollywood movie before telling the boy that he's not learning traditional dances to become a movie star, the ship needs a new engineer.

I like the facial features and proportions of Sanjay character. I didn't get the bundles, just him, the HD, and a set of mustachios in a different sale.

BTW, a kaftan was generally an African loose garment either to the thighs for men, or to the ankles for women. In the 1960s African Pride and the Hippie movement  were available with African patterns and colors. Often an elaborate design followed a deep v-neck. Nowdays, they tend to be any sort of long loose frock for women, a little more "tailored" than the 50's Muumuu, popularized when Hawaii became the 50th state.

A knee length collared shirt called a kurta was also worn in the 60s in the hippie movement.  In the 1960s, we saw the Nehru high collared jacket come into fashion all the way to Britain which became very stylized in velvets and paisleys by the Mods. I think the kurta is still very popular in India especially because of hot weather.

umm hate to say it but looks like the eye mesh is showing through a splint in the skin  caused by the expression ......you could try moving the eyeball back a bit or lessen the expression

I'd put in a support ticket. In the meantime, until it's fixed, you can try adding the "Eyelids Heavy" morph and/or "Eyelids Lower Height" morph if you have Genesis 8 Male head morphs pack - and see if that gets rid of it.

Sanjay 8 HD (on the left) and Sanjay 8.

I could not see the difference, so it looks to me, that HD details are not always necessary, which is a good thing.

The whole expression looks quite strange. Is that from the E and J expression pack?

I think the hair in the first one is https://www.daz3d.com/faux-hawk-hair-for-genesis-8-and-3 and the beard is probably the one that comes with Sanjay hair.

Here are my HD and regular versions with Sanjay hair/beard. Seems like you have to layer them atop each other and switch back & forth to notice much difference.

That's a nice face (Sanjay's not bad either!).

I'm not so bothered by the HD issue.  The HD add-on is quite light in terms of detail added.  Perhaps Daz are being honest in recognising that the add-on would not have been worth $40 and are using it as a promotional item rather than burying it.

For me, this is the best Genesis 8 male character so far.

Hi folks, I am on the fence about this character, but must say has grabbed my attention!  He would go so well with Kalani in my library:  https://www.daz3d.com/kalani-for-genesis-8-female   And would love to put similar tats on him cheeky

I was doing a forum search for the hair, and beard that is not showing up correctly in my firefox browser as part of the bundle and I ran across this image: - now, for the life of me, I cannot find the thread of which I found it. I was wondering if anyone knew where to find the eyebrows on this render (or maybie the thread) or do they come with the bundle and I am missing something ...I guess I need more caffeine this morning before making major DAZ purchase decisions wink

Generally, to tel the difference between HD and normals you need to be very close or to have strongly directional lighting to catch the elevated and recessed areas. The areas that show up most readily tend to be the edges of the lips and the philtrum ridges on the face, and the tendons above the clavicle on the body, where the xtra sharpness is often visible (ears tend to change noticeably too).

Yes, the skin and eyebrows for this render is not Sanjay 8 but actually Kimo 7 - so no editional eyebrows added. Just find Kimo works well for asian characters generally.

Pic's from the first couple pages of this thread; if you don't see it on the first read through, try clicking on the grayed-out posts by people you have on ignore to see if that's one of them. Once you find it you can text the poster and ask them. If I had to guess, though, what you're seeing there is the skin from Ravi, a G8M character released over at renderosity.

Here's my take on Khan Noonian Singh; Wrath of Khan type wardrobe and hair, but aged more like the Space Seed version. G3M, wearing Sanjay 8's skin. Morph recipe is 60% Ahmad Base head and body, 50% Ivan HD Addon head and body, 50% Sanjay head and 45% Sanjay body, 10% Ahmad Full body, 19% Jaw Height, 300% Eyes Cornea Bulge, -10% each on Eyes Size and Eyes Width, 10% Eyes Outer Width (this is from Dogz's 200 Morphs kit), 50% on Upper and Lower Arms Size (and the equivalent thigh-shin-calf morphs but you can't really see that from the pic).

Correct me if I am wrong, but the description states:

"The most backward compatibility ever, through included clones for Genesis, Genesis 2, & Genesis 3"

Though there is no clones included in the sanjay 8 bundle?

The clones are included in the base figure.
