Does anyone remember the 1970s movie "Two Lane Blacktop?"

It had a nice 55 chevy in it, and stared James Taylor the singer! Even came out with a model kit for it.

Also how about "Vantage Point" with the 1970 Dodge Challenger going across country with a time limit, outrunning all those cops, only to end up crashing head on into two huge bulldozers at about 120 m.p.h. All that was left of the car was the trunk and back seat !!!!!!!

I still can't forget that look on his face just before he plowed full throttle into those dozers. That smile he gave was saying " You guys never did get me!"

oh...correction here....from Denver to San Francisco in 15 hours! Also what many do not know is that the actual car they used to plow into those two dozers was a 1967 Camaro...not the challenger used throug the movie...look at the pic here of the remains of the car and see for yourself! Cool huh?

Another one was Opee Taylor, Ron Howard, in "Eat My Dust"...lol. He drove a redish orangey Camaro in this one with an "8 ball" painted on the hood. So he was "behind the 8 ball" driving it. This Camaro has gone down on record as one of the coolest movie cars ever used. When I played bass for "Tom Wopat" (Luke Duke) from the TV series "Dukes of Hazzard", he reveiled to me that the Duke series was a spinoff of this movie, only they chose to use an orange Dodge charger instead and put the rebel flag on top of the car istead of on a hat, or on the hood.

But one of the greatest all time cool car movies was "American Graffeti", which also had Ron Howard in it. Just before the release of the "Happy Days" series. The yellow chopped and channeled 32 Ford roadster, and the black 55 chevy street machine, driven by a young Harrison Ford, both belong to a guy named Milner. Two fine examples of American car magic! Too many very cool cars in this movie to list.

Here is a quick render of a project we are currently working on. This car is fully modeled and rendered in Carrara 8 Pro, no extensions or third party products used. We intend to put this model up for sale when we have installed the interior.

We would really like to get some feedback on our work.

(The last render in this post shows a model we did a little while ago. While it actually began as a casual exercise in vertex modeling, we have now turned it into a rat rod. It is a good example of what one can do in Carrara.)

If you take a good close look at that pic of the car that was ran into the dozers, the rear clip is at the wrong angle for it to actually be a Camaro, they always will use the same car, not necessarily the car being driven throughout the movie, but the same make and model, they always have cars in reserve, they probably used a couple dozen 70 Dodge Challengers for that movie, its nothing for a movie studio to buy a bunch of the same car just a wreck a few, even in television, the Dukes of Hazard had several dozen General Lee's, they had to, or they would not have been able to keep up the production schedule.

Well, here's another render of our current project, the Fergani Cavelloni. Today we have been struggling with the doors, which still aren't completely to our liking. The techniques we use to model these vehicles are explained in a tutorial made by Ormusei, who is also supervising this project.

    Find it here:
    http://www.qfpost.com/download.do?get=7bd7c50ae9c8ef2e4bfb0dd761f62449

Are there any other (Carrara) car modelers out there? If so, we would very much like to get in touch.

    Nice renders everyone.

I haven't done much for the past couple of weeks. My Windows 7 computer died from a power surge. It's beyond repair. Luckly, the Windows 7 hard drive is still good (it's got all my stuff on it) and bootable. I had to purchase a new computer and it has Windows 8. I've gotten all my stuff transferred over and all programs are running except the 2 that I absolutely have to have...Photoshop 5.5 and UVMapper Pro (I like the simplicity of those 2 programs). I've gone so far as to disable Windows 8 secure boot in BIOS and set it from a UEFI interface to Legacy. Didn't help any. Photoshop 5.5 opens with only a menu showing but the but the program won't full load. Have to use Task Manager to close it. UVMapper Pro acts like it might open (you get the cursor turn into the rotating circle the goes away. That's all it will do.
I've considered replacing the Windows 8 hard drive with the Windows 7 hard drive so I can use those 2 programs. Also considered setting up a dual boot system. Haven't tried either. Not sure if I'm in the mood to track do and try to fix any more errors.

I've ever sent Steve Cox (author of UVMapper) 3 emails (to 3 different email address I have) but haven't heard anything back from him. I know he's still around because he posted a reply to a message on Renderosity in April 2013.

Hey Cherokee, nice to see your at least back online, what you might do is put your Win7 drive in as an alternative, or secondary drive, that way you should be able to run the programs on it, another thing you might want to do, as I had to do this with some of my XP games when I ended having to use Vista for a short time, and later went onto Win7, is to set the programs up so that they think they are running on Win7, even though they are running on Win8.

    Hey Betsy,

Thanks, It is good to be back online. Every thing works since the transfer from the Win7 drive to the Win8 drive. I used Classic Shell so I didn't have to try to use that Win Metro crap. It might be good for a table but not a desktop computer. So far, like I mentioned, is those 2 programs. I set the both in compatibility mode to Win7 and when that didn't work, tried Winxp, which didn't work either. What's strange, some other programs that are as old as those, work fine on Win8.

Oh yeah, I understand about old programs that don't work on a new comp, ran into that with Win7 of course, and now even I'm looking at the possibility that I may be replacing my computer soon as well, and will have to contend with much the same nonsense.

If you had opened up your new pooter case, there is a slot for another hard drive with a connector there. Just plug it in and restart it. You could have just kept the old drive intact. When you have two, it will ask you which drive you want to boot up each time you start up the pooter.

You can't depend on wiki, that is often very inaccurate, since anyone can put information, true or false into it.

Win8 is alot faster like they said but it's a royal pain as far as I'm concerned...mainly I guess because I'm not interested in all the bells and whistles it has. I don't use any of the social networks and having all that on the computer is so unnecessary for me. I'll take the old style interface anything over that new Metro crap.

That is good in a way, but also bad, as in my case, the chrome parts, especially the bumpers and the grill come out too dark, simply because the detail isn't model, so using shaders to fix some of the parts simply won't work.
