@EcVh0 Thank you for a quick response. Oh man, now the decision, buy or not to buy. I sure wish PA would have made a G3F version also, since all those extras ( HD morphs and stuff ) look really nice too, and it would have been an instant buy then.
No problem man, yeah moving those HD morphs onto G3 is definitely some pain for all, as well as the fact that G3 is missing those great JCMs (amazing expressions etc) which might make the character look not as great

Your question made my curious so I tested this, with both 3Delight and Iray materials for the base Genesis 8 Female. Attempting to apply the presets gave me an error. Applying the materials to G8F first, I was able to copy the Surface settings of the G8F and paste them onto the G3F. The eyelashes need to be copied over from the separate Eyelashes. And if you want to use the Iray materials, you need apply the Iray Uber Base to G3F first. But it will work, as long as you use the Base Female UVs, (as EcVh0 pointed out.)

Yeah the material presets only loads on the specific target (in this case the G8F) and nothing else, so it will be a bit of a trouble to migrate it to G3F (copying everything across). Shaders for G8F can be straight applied on G3F tho!

Textures easily, whereas morphs would take some work, and may not be 100% successful.
Personally, the new Pose tool is enough to make G8 a worthwhile investment.
I'm not considering characters until there are the morphs though, and I do think there could (and should) have been better support morph-wise sooner.
I'm guessing DAZ specifically programmed that in as some sort of exception. If you attempt to apply a G3M (full materials) preset to G8F, (in the .117 beta, anyway,) you get the following message in the log file: Invalid hierarchy for selected node(s) and "preset_hierarchical_material" type; no root(s) found.
I've looked at the G8F material preset, and it specifies both the figure and the eyelashes. That is probably the "root(s)" mentioned in the above message. G3M and G3F don't have or need that level of hierarchy. Perhaps we could convince DAZ to include a preset for compatibility with G3F...
I don't have V8, only the base that comes with the Starter Essentials. I was able to apply the SSS presets to the G3F 3Delight materials, and the Translucency presets to the Iray Uber Base converted G3F materials. Perhaps someone with V8 can try applying the eyes or other "partial" presets, see if any of those work with G3F...

I've noticed that the "Growing Up" Packages for G3 and G2 are part of the current ZevO sale. Can anyone tell me if the clothing I have for G2 and G3 will automatically conform to the younger figures or if I will have to do a lot of tweaking to make them fit.
This works pretty well. Of course there are some pieces of clothing (or hair) where it is nor working totally good, but they are exception. Additional some clothing that is very "Breast-Centric" can look strange with a flat chest.
Yes, that's the way the generated auto-follow morphs in all Genesis clothes are designed to work. Of course, these morphs won't be as accurate or clean-fitting as a proper "made-to-measure" morph, but they should only need a little tweaking — there are some adjustment morphs in Growing Up to help with this — to deal with most problems.
Yesterdays flash sale was irresistable. Felt like Ground Hog Day (December 2016). Ended up with a cart count of 44, and the majority of those were for Ironman. Most were her standalones but 6 were bundles. Snagged half a dozen gems from Dreamlight too. I own 30 of his products and relate well to his style. Thank you Daz. If I drank beer I'd bang the table and ask for an encore.
Okay, looking at todays sale and NO DISCOUNT? for new releases? Hmmm.
It's less than an hour after DAZ midnight and the store update. It sometimes takes a little while for correct prices and discount values to propagate, although that said, we don't often see it taking this long. It'll probably be OK once someone comes in to work in the morning and gives the store database a good hard kick. (Sometimes the electrons get stuck and it needs a little rap to knock them loose.)
Discounts are there. But no additional discount the more products you buy. Just 30%, some free stuff and 40-50% on PA catalogs and 60% on some selected items. I more and more tend to ignore those and look for good flash sales (like the ironman13-one) and fast grab. Might get the figure from Freja though.
