Its already summer here in Nevada, we get like one week of spring and then straight to summer. Currenlty 89 degrees at 10am, it supposed to get to 102 f today.
You're kidding, right?
We've had 85 degree weather for several weeks (or hotter) in the Florida panhandle. It was lovely this morning, in the seventies, but already in the 80's and still climbing. It's rather funny to see Colorado and other states getting snowstorms.
Summer starts June 21 - yeah, I'm a purist *g*
I think a purist would be calling that Midsummer!
True, but astronomical summer starts on June 21, meteorological on June 1st.
(apologies to any antipodeans...)
Buy morphs, and practice with them.
Base Generation 7 characters are (in my opinion) poor value. They come with UV sets that are rarely used, and for that I am grateful.
Having said that, a couple of the base characters are great and do offer something different.
It all depends on you and your situation. If you have more time than money, I'd say wait. Every now and then, DAZ gives away a figure, in some cases a starter bundle, as a freebie when you purchase something else. Right now, you can get the Stephanie 6 Starter Bundle in the Freebies section. I started when Genesis 2 was the latest model, and I found it so much easier to work with than Genesis or the generation 4 figures, (V4, M4, et al.) I like and use Genesis 3, but I'm not convinced the improvements are functionally that much better than Genesis 3 in most areas. G3 is definitely better with the face/expressions, but for what I do most of the time, G2 usually works well enough. And a lot of the wardrobe items will fit on the G3 figures, so you can still use them as you acquire the G3 figures.
I agree with nicsst for the most part. You can do a lot with the Base Male and Female that come with the included starter essentials. Most, if not all, the characters from the PAs use the base UVs so none of the figure UVs are needed. When a character requires a base figure, it's the shape that is needed to get the face and body. However, many of these character look very nice without the required figure. And they provide a variety of skin materials for your own creations, (using the morphs nicstt is recommending.) The base figures can be a great value when buying the pro bundle, if and when they are heavily discounted.
The Overdrawn/Ati DazDeals plugin/addon for your browser is an amazing tool. And it's free. I highly recommend it.
In Iceland it was April 20th

A bunch of PC+ items that were $4.99 just dropped 50% for some reason to $2.50. Examples: Lien HD for Mei Lin 7 and Forgotten Tunnel entrance, there are others as well, all showing for 87% off.
the prices in that summer sale for DO's seem to have all dropped. The PC items are really low.
I'm wearing socks and flannalette pj's - definitely not summer here. LOL
There's some very nice stuff in that sale, and right now the prices are pretty good. They weren't earlier, so I don't know if it was a fixed or glitched, LOL
OK, not sure if this relates to all of the items you guys are referring to as far as price drops, but I did add some stuff to my cart this morning.
At that time, the 50% discount wasn't computed into/applied to the item price shown, but was applying in the cart. So some items that were listed at say $4.99 were showing up as $2.50 in my cart. I held of on purchasing at that time, just in case some flash sale or something else showed up.
HOWEVER, the additional 5% discount wasn't being applied (I don't remember that being in the original ad promo banner either, but it may or may not have been there). Net results is the items that were $2.50 are now showing up at $2.25 in my cart
So in my case waiting did save me a little bit extra (that extra 5%). The price drop seems to be related to 'baking in' the 50% baseline that wasn't included in the price as shown before, at least as far as I can tell.
Well all I see are new products from sale day 1 for 30% off and sale day 2 for 30% - no combination, no extra, no nothing. Big let down as today a new light set from Colm Jackson is part of the sale. Normally an instant purchase, but at 30% and $17.47 it just adds to the wishlist. Used the - already not that wow - Centaur G3F sale to add some store credit. Trying not to touch the remains of it for as long as possible ;-)
I think we're being punished as naughty children for complaining about the previous sales.
those look generous compared to this paltry offering. No two-fers, the additional only adds another 5% lol.
No bundling of featured artists- this is all step-backwards stuff.
Somebody say sorry.
I'm sorry...

I'm not sorry.
Easy to ignore it. Some deals to be had elsewhere.
Just saving my money til the last day, if past sales are any indication, it pays to wait til the end when everything will be on sale, and if lucky, there will be some kind of bonus or glitch to make it all worth it.
Initially, you had to add them to the cart to see the 50% off. Now, they're 50% in the listing and 55% off in the cart if you've also got a new release in there. Much clearer. :)
Except for those who saw it initially. :) Knowing that I'd get 50% off when I put the items in the cart, I was dashing to the shop when I saw that the items are 50% off to start with. I was expecting to get the 50% off the banner talked about previously, when I put them in the cart, but nah... :D
I was hoping for some new Daz Original items would show up on the list of Daz Originals list for Day 2, or a separate group of stuff or something. If some items were added, they weren't ones I'm interested in.
Nothing interests me (at least at the current price points), so now I wait for Day 3 deals. The Daz Original list so far seems to feature primarily version 7 characters (with a handful of 6's), it'd be nice to see more of the Daz Original 6's on sale in the coming days.
I guess we should be thankful that these sales even happen in the first place, and I did find a few small items to grab yesterday at least.
The current batch are listed as "2015-2016", so perhaps we'll get some older ones at (hopefully) higher discounts as time goes on...
This sale started slow (for me, at least), but it's starting to get better. I'll probably be able to use this month's coupon after all! :)))
I'm troubled by the 'no-combinations' thing going on. I can't believe the cyber angel is serarated from the figure and there is no bundle for that.
And there's no combining so the iray glass shader and the HD male figure morphs all have to go wishlist.
I don't understand why, suddenly, there's no deals on new releases.
It's got me looking into all the old stuff. Like, now that Antfarm has that Anti-Graf lift, I'll now get that GTX-racecar. Make something cool out of it.
There's also a bunch of outfits that will be very useful for male wardrobe kit-bashing.
But something new?
Probably not. I can't sustain those prices. There's no way I'm riding as hard as I did before. lol
I'm tired of eating cheese and crackers after March Madness.
17 old(er) pieces and two recents (19 total items in the cart) are the same price as two new ones.
The promo says 50%-60% on PAs catalogs. I see only 50%. Is that 60% something PAs are deciding on or is it connected to having a new release in the cart - which I do?
Daz Originals are 65% off. I don't see anything at 60% off from today's list. Or anything from day 2... :) Day 1 has a lot of items at 60% off: https://www.daz3d.com/daz-summer-sale-featured-artist-catalogs-day-1
Well, while I'm abstaining from the paltry 30% off, I'm making an exception for Kindred Arts Iray Glassworx. Genius! Now I can have rainy day scenes without having to go outdoors to do it! (Lazy me.) Looking at the work that went into that, for under $14 it's totally worth it IMO. I'm only buying things I will really USE at the 30% off, and this is one that will be used a lot. Into my cart it went!
Good shaders are always in season as far as I'm concerned:-)
I thought this summer sale built on itself. Apparently not. I had $100 worth of stuff sitting in my cart overnight. The price doubled overnight. Dumped the whole thing.
