...Fishtales, very well done.
@ Musicplayer: I tend to prefer photo backdrops over HDRIs as I can see them in the viewport. To see the HDRI image I need to be working in Iray View Mode which is very taxing on my system as I have an old 1 GB GPU card. so it almost immediately goes to CPU and physical memory then eventually crashes the Daz programme when I exceed that and my virtual memory partition.. Most of the time I already have a ground and surrounding set elements so often it is just to have a detailed sky and other scenery in the background (too bad Daz doesn't have volumetric clouds like Carrara has). Yes, one of the tricks is matching the lighting quality and sun angle in the photo but I've had a lo of practise at it (funny that I've seen in some see mega buck cinema productions they don't always get it right). I find using the Iray sun dial to be the best method for get shadow angles to match (no fussing with global location time day year), and the the Sun/Sky environment wth the dome turned on to provide the necessary GI.
Have field stripped and am cleaning the workstation as the last place I lived in was very dusty (sometimes made for great "godray: studies) so won't be posting anything for a bit. No where near as bad as I feared (certainly nothing like those "horror" pictures and vids of very neglected computer innards) it still needed it badly. Too bad I don't have the memory upgrade and W7 Pro OEM, as this would be a good time to install both (up to 370$ now for the combo and I'm still rendering on the CPU). .
..small critique, the shadow angles for the characters and the car do not match that of the photo backdrop.
My first test render with using Genesis 8 Female and Growing Up morph.
NASA Research Outpost
...nice, looks so cold and forlorn.
Here's a quick first studio shot of Damaris for G8F (Renderosity). I was impressed with her promo, so I thought I'd try for myself.
I'm definitely happy with the character.
That looks pretty realistic
Thanks. I wanted to try something different than Mars or a desert like terrain.
Thanks. I was happy the way it turned out.
A close up..
"Dressed for the occasion". Old A3 stuff.
More old stuff.
Another few of my backdrop images.

This is Steam Punk Nest, Bethany 7, Merlins Medieval Wagon and bread with the Millenium cat. I used Grime-inizer to dirty things up a bit.

So, I picked up the She Orc for Genesis 8 Female and I'm quite impressed with how nice she renders up.

These renders are also once again using the volumetric lighting trick. I honestly think that it gives Iray renders a certain "feeling" that is missing without it.
Tried something different since some of the threadripper computer parts won't be in til Tuesday
Fun fun using the bakdrop pic to create TV show like indoor DOF
Hey all! I don't think I posted these in this thread, so...
First is a picture in anticipation for Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, and the second is a new poster for my planned Star Trek fancomic, Flight Of The Condor.
..really nice, reminds me of a scene I did back in teh pre Iray days.
...wow that is great. Causes me to almost hear a lonely saxophone playing..
Here are a few more using my images as the backdrop.

Cool all generations can play nice together....
Love the Godzilla one. Awesome!
Just playing around with some content and liked the lighting this HDRI gave. DS, Iray and no postwork
Thanks! I have a ton of fanart on my DA page. And I'm currently prepping a Godzilla fancomic called Revenge Of Godzilla.
A tall ship Nice
I'm a big fan of Godzilla and the classic monsters. I almost baught dragon 3 and the Godzilla add on. I have a Godzilla like poser character I got free somewhere, but I haven't tried to use it yet. Might be good for an NPR but maybe not for IRAY.
This test render I did with the "IRAY Converter for Genesis and Generation 4 bundle which I got on sale. I'm trying to decide if I made a good purchase. The one on the left is G1. My only complaint is his pours look a little too prominent. I'm not sure what setting to adjust for that. I'm using Gaussian setting in pixel filtering. Now I'm much better at non realistic renders than IRAY, so any help would be appreciated.
I'm mostly satisfied with M4, on the right, but I may try a different IRAY texture on the jacket.
Thought I'd toss this in; think the guy dyes his hair, you can see the roots of his hair and beard coming in
Gorgeous character and great render! :) The floating neckless is a shame, as it hurts the realism - but other than that it's really beautiful. Nicely done!
