  • I've always loved the Enchanted Forest environment. Here it is, yet again translated to Iray...

The big tricky bit was adding translucence to all the leaves to enhance the look.

    Will,

I'm a fan, as well.  I'm puzzled as to why someone hasn't done an Iray add-on set for them.  Stefan's Village Courtyard sets would also benefit.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

This rendered a bit faster than I expected, only about 30 minutes. I mean, 0% completion, but it looked good enough to me!

    IMAGE BALEETED

Someone found that the model I was using is a copy or remake from a video game; I'm not sure the source has permission to sell that model.

I take IP very seriously so have taken it down

...nice.  Not what you want to see poking through the treed when on a hike in the woods.

There are a couple mistakes here but I had a hell of a lot of fun. This is my first time creating anything in MD.

...very well done.  Little off topic, but which version of MD do you have?

Ok, let's try this again, this time with the Dystopian Trooper.

Whatever current is I am subscribed. Thinking about getting a perpetual license as the program is very much what I wanted from it but that depends what features they are working on when my year runs out I don't want to convert right before a major upgrade.

I really like this. Great atmosphere.

When I can take the render time hit, I try to use either Stonemason's haze (I think it came with one of the Urban Future sets), or the Atmosphere from TerraDome3.

I like the lighting in the first one Robert! The last one gives more light, but it seems kinda off not seeing the light source. I would try some tiki torches around the van

Yeah the first one's my favourite number two and three I scaled the rim lights on to see what would happen number four was actually number two without the rim lights being scaled

I really don't think the light set was ment to be used the way I tried in this scene.

I've got some Tiki torches somewheres and may see what I can do with them

...I have an old Ver 3 Personal Perpetual Licence  Don't much care for cloud or subscription software  Love a lot of the new features I've read about but haven't been able to afford an upgrade even with the special offers that appear.

    Understandable.

EDIT: If you have any art using it I would be interested to see.

...just experiments. at clothing creation.  Nothing rendered.  The last couple years have been an uphill battle with RL rubbish (won't go into the details) which often took precedent over my creative pursuits  As I am now retired on SS and in the process of finally settling into my new place, I am looking to get get back into the swing of what I really have been wanting to do again.

Ugh hate this forum spell check as you have to remember to turn it on before submitting a post.  I often end up going back into edit mode to open it and fix typos (and it doesn't flag misspelled words less than 4 characters long).  Who came up with this rubbish?

  • Reworked the beach scene moved the Rim Light Rig towards the sun and added the torches in one

The torches are the only difference between them

    Tiki torches for the win!

Seriously, the torches do a good job of adding that extra bit of light .

So, here is a set of renders that tell a story of sorts.
First is the act of taking the selfie.

    Next comes the social media!

And then there is the reality behind the high angle selfie

This was a fun set of images to create.
The selfie image was captured using a 3mm Frame Width camera parented to the front of the phone.  Then set into the camera interface and set as an emissive surface on the phone screen.

  • Trying out Everyday Gifts, Everyday Party Decorations and Everyday Snacks.

LOL, this scenario happened to a friend of mine. She was texting this guy and he sent a ton of selfies. When they finally met up he was really overweight which didn't really show in the selfies. Gotta love online dating, LOL. Great set of images.

I never do images with kids in them, but this is a great scene as far as the props, the setting, the posing, the composition and the lighting. Good job.

I was looking thru my products and found I had Atmocam and had never used it. So I decided to try out volumetric lighting and this is the result. Unfortunately it gave it a postwork feel even though there isn't any, which wasn't my intention. I am really happy with the way the environment came out though as it is part of 10 different products all kitbashed together with instancing.

On to the image. A hungry Allosaurus stumbles upon a grazing juvenile triceratops who decides to make a stand rather than flee....hope the ploy works!

...moving the rim light to the sun really makes a difference.
