This is really annoying.

I uninstalled all packages and installed Victoria 8, Victoria 8 HD and Victoria 9 only. Then I launched Daz Studio and both Victorias are there where they should be and the actors show up correctly.

Then, I install the remaining packages and open Daz again, and whoops Victoria actors are gone.

Can one of the remaining packages mess up with Victoria install?

On the Render Settings pane, uncheck both the CPU options as per my screenshot, and leave the bottom 3 options checked. This way it will use the 5090 first, and only fall back to CPU if the VRAM runs out.

Hang on I do kind of lol he uninstalled the studio driver & reinstalled the game ready driver that seemed to have worked so far but don't quote me on it but thats what he did for me

Did anyone manage to download the Gia 6 lighting tutorial by dz_jared?  The youtube link is long defunct and I find myself wanting to try to recreate the render style used for the genesis 2 figures like victoria 6 and josie 6.

Installed the update recently, but didn't try it until now. I don't see any poke through or bald spots, but there is another problem. The hair does not follow the head movements, apparently doubling the rotation (don't know if it was like that before). Twist the head a bit, the hair goes twice as much. Same for bend and side-to-side. If I counter with an opposing rotation of the head node on Emberlynn Hair and Hair Thin, it looks okay. (The Scalp follows properly for all rotations)

Used: Victoria 9, Emberlynn hair, default load, no simulation.

G9 Head twist 20 deg, Hair unchanged.

G9 Head twist 20 deg, Hair-Head and Hire Fine-Head twist -20 deg.

I recently discovered Daz 3D and installed DAZ Studio and all the essentials with Install Manager. I also made some purchases at the shop and installed them as well.

One of my purchases is Victoria 8. I also have 9 but want to talk about 8 for now.

When I launched DAZ Studio, all I could see related to Victoria was My DAZ 3D Library > People > Genesis 8 Female > Characters > Victoria > Materials.

I thought I could select Victoria as an Actor just like that and by double-clicking the model would go into the Viewport.

I saw no option like that, then I went down to Products > V and saw that my Victoria products where there, but with black-white icons.

I had to double-click to get them "installed". And the icons got colored. When clicking on Products > V > Victoria 8.1 I can see the components in it and this time the Actor is there at the very bottom.

Still no Actor when going the My DAZ 3D Library > People > Genesis 8 Female > Characters > Victoria path.

Is this the way it should be, I am a little confused. Do we have to install everything within DAZ Studio again?

After loading Victoria 7, a bikini (to respect forums rules) and applying only 3Delight materials to any item loaded (on Victoria 7, some surfaces ended with a shader called 'AoA subsurface (RSL)'), once I activated Iray Preview, as far as I can tell, the Alpha seems to have converted the various surfaces to Iray on the fly and I didn't see glaring difference between loading the same scene in DS 4.23PB:

I never looked seriously at Genesis 8.1. I took a long break after buying Genesis 8 content, and only recently bought Genesis 9 content.

I've seen a lot of Genesis 8.1 content recently. A character says it's compatible with Genesis 8.1. But I can't find a character called simply "Genesis 8.1"

Is there anything desirable about a Genesis 8.1 character versus Genesis 8 or 9?1

The closest I've found is Michael 8.1 and Victoria 8.1.

I happened to stumble across the product page for Victoria 6 Skin Tones by Oskarsson, and liked the outfit worn by V6 in the main product piicture - but couldn't identify it.  I have scoured the Daz site and a few others, but still have no idea what the outfit is.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a goldmine of stuff from the V4 era that I wish would see re-release or updates.  PAs do move on, get older, or simply decide that it's not profitable to reissue some of their older products, and I totally get that.

But you can still use a lot of your older content as is with some minor tweaks though.  V4 era clothing and hair works great if you use it on background characters.  Consider using something like MattyManx's resource saver shaders, a lot of it is 1-click, and you've got great usable background characters in iray. 

And, with a bit more work, you can of course get old Victoria 4 herself looking great in Iray, or Victoria 3, as richardandtracy demonstrates above.  Great work on V3 Richard.

nemesis10, I've been a DAZ customer for 25 years. Believe me I know which characters get which resources.

I noticed some really bad file organizing in the early years, especially. That's why I wanted the older characters off in their own little "Runtime." (ex: Michael 1, Michael 2, Victoria 1, 2, 3, etc.)

DAZ files still get some weird, and incosistent file placement. Many items are filed under "vanity" folders (Stonemason, etc.) I never remember who created the stuff, I just want to use it.I've pretty much learned to "make do."

Unfortunately, now it appears an external 3TB hard drive has died. That drive stored most of my work for the past 25 years. I'm still trying to figure out my next step.
