flecks better describe it than houndstooth though, my memories are sometimes very inaccurate

    Florian's channel : Bad Gear

I can't remember which episode it was, but I've seen it twice now.  The best I remember is he says the name "Wendy", follows it up with a bunch of flashing love-heart emoticons on the screen, and followes that by putting a bunch of cats on the screen.  Pretty sure it was meant to represent Wendy > Loves > Cats  ;-)

I'll let you know if I ever come across it again, cause I'm pretty sure it was you he was referring to.  Maybe he knows you from your quirky YouTube stuff, since he often mentions others as part of the style of his videos.

Regards the turntable, yeah that's quite a bit older than the one I had,  I think the Fidelity HF42 was a late 70s design that also enjoyed popularity in the 80s.  Anyway, I suspect we're about to get a lecture on signal-to-noise ratio pretty soon unless we get back on topic, so I suppose we better had before the next page hits  :-P

I don't even use that name on Youtube though cheeky

I imagine there are many Wendys out there and most decent people love cats heart

as for thread topic, some threads are more enforced than others as long as we stay away from so called controversial matters

remixing your art with AI however definitely applies to music too, so music nostalgia and innovation are a part of that subject

    so right on topic IMO

  • And polydactyl cats are okay if they actually do have extra toes and fingers. Just claim the ai was accurate :))

And they are so durn adorable.

I use Nano Banana to tweak my renders and give them a more cinematic look, especially when I want quick results or don't have hours to spend on rendering. This is a great workflow, especially for those who create visual novels or comics.

With the right prompts, it makes fine adjustments without distorting the original image at all. Here is just a quick example of what I mean.

Some might call it laziness, but when you lack a high-end GPU with massive VRAM, tools like this are a lifesaver."

Perhaps he saw you comment on a piece of gear on a forum somewhere where you use that name.  I dunno, but if you have a synth or some other piece of audio gear, that might even give a clue as to what episode I saw it in, since it might be related to a piece of gear you own, and that he did a video about.

Sure, it might not be you.  But who else do you know who goes by the 'Wendy Loves Cats' phrase?

I've re-watched a few over the last few days, just to see if I could find it.  To be honest I'm really surprised I've not been able to, because there's very few videos I think I've seen twice of his, and that only ever happens with gear I'm really interested in buying.  I don't normally watch his videos since they're far too erratic in style for me.  I felt pretty sure it was his Korg Volca Modular video, since I've been wanting to buy one (or four) of those, but I checked and it isn't that.  The only other synth I recall wanting lately is the Sonicware Ambient Zero, but I doubt it's that one since it's far too recent.

But yup, can't imagine what else it could be, but I'll be sure to let you know if I see it again (and I still do reckon he was referring to you).

just seems unlikely as I don't mention synths really in my videos though I do have a Roland Gaia plus several ordinary electronic keyboards and have sometimes played them along with VSTs with my Midi controller as background music

not made a thing about it though, doubt anyone knows other than the unrelated Melody Assistant Virtual Singer videos I got a bit of notoriety over how ear torturing they were

those are pure midi file driven, yes I compose many bad midi tunes with it

it uses a musical score, as a pianist, I cannot work with piano roll format at all

I've never watched a Gaia video, athough technically I can run up to 16 turbo-charged Gaias simultaneously inside my Roland MC-101, which ever since they opened up the full synth editing capability on it through a firmware update, is easy one of my favourite boxes, it's a complete studio in a box after that update.

You can create anything on an MC-101, from a scratch-built synthesised sound to a complete mixed and mastered album of absolutely any genre, so pretty "SICK" as the saying goes, and it sounds as if it has some sort of 'Audio Mojo' going on that the others lack, it's a proper beefy-sounding little wonder-box!

I hear you on the piano roll thing.  Not a fan of inputting notes via a mouse, but I don't mind it for correcting things and drawing-in automation for complex stuff.

Randomly selected video of someone who knows how to use it properly  (and that was before they opened-up the full synth editing on it).

I think he meant Wendy from the Prince band The Revolution. That's my guess.

"Wendy Ann Melvoin (born January 26, 1964) is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter, best known for her work with Prince as part of his backing band the Revolution, and for her collaboration with Lisa Coleman as one half of the duo Wendy & Lisa."

But does that Wendy have anything to do with loving cats?
If so then yes, I suppose it could be that.

I hate it when I know something is out there but I cannot find it.  I still do think it was our very own cat-obsessed Wendy he was referring to, but I guess we'll never know unless someone comes across it again and takes note of the episode (which I really wish I'd done myself now)  :-D

just a few Reddit Reading channels

others, I find people get angsty easily

and don't have comments enabled on my main channel for the same reason

so its pretty much less than zero, never watched a single one of his videos until you linked him

I'm afraid the WendyLuvsCatz "Bad Gear" mystery will just have to remain a mystery until someone else spots it  :-D

And don't hate me. I got the Wendys confused. It's Wendy Carlos the synthesizer pioneer.

Even a google search shows her with her cat. lol

Correction: EVERY picture shows her with her cat.

We can ask an ai to find the item you are looking for. Tell me again what that was.

Or even more common would be how many cats love Wendy >•<

All I remember is him saying the name "Wendy", following that with love-hearts on the screen, and following that with cats on the screen.

Just to be clear, nowhere was the phrase "Wendy Luvs Catz" or "Wendy Loves Cats" ever directly written or said.  But it was clearly a quick succession thing that was meant to represent the phrase.  I cannot imagine AI finding it unless it had monitored all of his videos, but I suppose (with Wendy's blessing) you could give it a go if you think AI could find it!

No luck on the Wendy thing then, Barefoot?  devil

If you're looking for an A.I, task to solve, I have an idea if anyone's interested..  I'm not in a position to play around with A.I. myself at the moment, but I'd say my attempts to get my head around it are going ok in general.   There are technical aspects that puzzle me, though.  Camera-related stuff, because what happens when you want to create video sequences at specific frame rates and shutter speeds?  Would it take notice of you if, for example, you were to tell it to render a specific video sequence (twice), where the first is rendered at 24p with a shutter speed of 1/48th of a second, and the second is rendered at 24p but with a shutter speed of 1/24th of a second, would it actually make a difference?

Take the attached video for example, because if anything would defeat A.I. I reckon that would.  I think if an A.I. attermpted a video like that in a single pass, it would fail miserably since it would very likely take the strobing effect as something to do with frame rate (or possibly even shutter speed depending on how the A.I interprets such things).  Thing is, though, shutter speed would make a massive difference to how the strobing would be interpreted.  Now obviously, if I wanted to do something like that, I would get A.I. to create the video without the strobing, and then I would add it separately in DaVinci Resolve Studio.  In order to do that properly, though, you need complete control over the frame rate and shutter speed.

So if anyone fancies a fun technical challenge, maybe create, say, two identical ten-second dance videos, both at 24p, with one at 1/24 and one at 1/48 shutter speed.  Once you have the videos rendered out, maybe even feed them back through A.I. and see how it handles adding the strobe effect to both videos.  It's boring technical stuff to most people, but it's vital for working with professional video, because unless you can match the properties of the real camera you shoot with, any switches between your real footage and A.I. are going to be very noticable when played back in sequence, or even composited.

that, is heavily edited and that strobe effect is layers

I have done it myself using animated gifs

I know that.  As I said, I would create a video and add the strobe in DaVinci to do something like that.  I chose that one because I'd just been watching Pulp videos  :-D

Just to be clear, it's not the creation of 'strobing' that I can't get my head around, it's how an A.I. outputting a video would give you control over the shutter speed etc.  It just puzzles me. because in those image-to-video models for example, it somehow seems to create the correct shutter speed, but there never appears to be a way to actually set it.  The most I've seen is the ability to set an overall frame rate for output, but even then it seems you have to go with whatever frame rates a specific A.I. model offers you, and that should'lt be the case when using something that supposedly takes your prompts.

On a proper camera you have control over frame rate and shutter speed.  It's absolutely vital because the shutter speed is what decides everything from crisp and choppy, to motion blur madness.  Sure, you can even add motion blur in post, but removing it is a different matter. and doing it like that is never the same anyway.

Every time I see a video done ok with A.I. the first thing that comes to mind is ...
Well ok, not bad, but how did you set the frame rate and shutter speed?

This is why I suggested to render-out a 10-second dance clip (twice) with only shutter speed different between them, just to see if prompting the A.I. to use a specific shutter speed actually works.  If it does, then the video rendered at 1/48 would have less motion blur than the one rendered at 1/24.

there are AI models that specifically remove motion blur

Again, that's a corrective measure and it's never the same as shooing (or in this case rendering) a scene at the correct shutter speed to start with.

Bear in mind that in order to do what they do, A.I. models must have an internal grasp of Frame Rate, Shutter Speed, ISO. F-stop etc, so the question is how do you get at those parameters in order to render out something professional enough to either composite or match real footage?

Since I never see these options, I'm hoping that it would undertand such instructions.  I've seen a video where an A.I. model understood lens type (which is promising), but that's not nearly enough for producing output suited to professional video work, or for producing something you can throw into DaVinci to use in an optimal, specifically intended way.
