It looks like I am needing to move soon.  Hopefully it will be somewhere better.

...grew up in Wisconsin, where milk, cheese, butter, ice cream were are a way of life  Yeah I've switched from whole milk to 2%.but that was the only compromise.  At best margarine tastes like Crisco no matter what artificial flavouring they use so I never touch the stuff.

Yeah, getting older sometimes tends to make one more sensitive to things you enjoyed in younger years (like for me shellfish, mayo/aioli, and salmon for example).

I probably have developed a slight intolerance myself but no where near the level to dump all dairy out of the diet (I will not even touch those "American cheese food product" slices or fake cheese on pizza).  Also unfortunately, most of the "lactose-free" products are grocery "budget busters, so I keep a bottle of Lactaid tablets handy for those rare occasions.

My (adult) kids have a lactose problem, but I don't. Lactaid milk is even worse for them than regular, though. I don't even know how that works, because the tablets work for them (somewhat). __ Complaint: my pc is overheating under load. I turned off cpu rendering, but it still shuts itself off in a long render (45 minutes+), or if I'm playing a game. So I guess I'm off to the repair guy tomorrow. I hope it doesn't cost too much. __ Edit: formatting does not work on my phone, apparently

Adding my good vibes to the pile. Hope it's an easy and inexpensive fix.

    @butterflyfish
Hopefully something as simple as the thermal paste drying out.

Thanks, everyone. The guy cleaned out some dust we didn't find when I tried to clean it, and updated something or other (probably the BIOS. It was many versions out of date) and said it's running a lot cooler now. $80. So not difficult or expensive unless this didn't fix it. I'll be picking it up in like 45 minutes when my daughter gets out of work. Fingers are crossed.

Apparently auto headlamp only sees traditional lights.  There are lights in the scene, but not the traditiinal ones.

What are those iray lights in texture type thing called?

Complaint: I'll have to see the doctor after today's meeting with the Tax Guy. See how much of my Buttocks they took. He already diagnosed me with flat butt disease—nothing like Uncle Sam and his little brother, MO, and their Taxes.

I saw a quote once about how our fur-family gives us some of the best days of our lives... and one of the worst ones. I'm so sorry your worst one came. I hope she visits you in happy dreams.

Charlie, I am so very sorry for your loss. Katie has been a lovely part of the forums and I have loved to see her because it meant you would be there.

My hugs for you at this time.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, Charlie.  I know how you feel.  I lost a companion and best friend when mine eventually had to be put to sleep.  He'd gotten so old and out of it that he could barely even leave his bed.

I am very sorry to read that, it is always very painful to lose one of our animal companions.

43 years ago, I first met Mummy in person.  I was crying like a newborn baby.  Mum was tired because she just went through labor but she still had enough energy to comfort me.

    Happy Birthday!

  • Happy birthday to you! @TSasha Smith

  • Big Non-complaint: I am now the owner of an HP Victus laptop with an RTX4050! I have high hopes for it. Once we finish the setup, downloading updates, etc. For comparison, my poor HAL had an 11 year old NVIDIA GeForce 940M & still managed Iray rendering, although not fast.

Minor complaint: To hear my husband you'd think Win11 was coded by Satan. He might not be far off for all I know. He's the retired tech, not me. I suspect he will come around, as I've told him he can game on the new Victus.

After being put through update hell on my Window 11 laptop for over 3 hours this morning, I would agree with him. I had to do a hard shut down again, and reboot. Then start over and it then worked okay. And another 4th update was waiting for me when I was done. By that point I had almost forgotten 'why' I had opened it up. Besides downloading on DIM.

NON-Complaint:  We are maybe getting SNOW Friday into Saturday with a Freeze warning! Yeah. We even had some spits of rain yesterday. The land is so parched. Water rationing is going into effect around here.
