It's really nice to see some NZ natives in the Daz store but I must take issue with their description. Hebes are native to New Zealand (around 88 species), one in Rapa Nui (Easter Island), and one in South America. The Hebe species were not placed in the Veronica genus until the 21st century, some 150 years after the marriage of Queen Victoria (who, by the way, carried a small posy of snowdrops, no veronica or hebe). Thus I call BS on the description in the store, we Kiwis DO NOT like our bits and bobs being usurped by other countries (just look up the war about the pavlova and the flat white), our flora and fauna mislabeled, our rock bands called Australian, our racehorses pinched, et al. When you are from a tiny country pimple on the big earth pumpkin, it behoves you as a pimple citizen to make sure the big pumpkin people get it right.

That is all fabricated. And Daz AI Studio was discontinued last year.

And to be fair, DAZ AI Studio is seperate from DAZ Studio.

More and more I see people doing so. Yet there are no fact check notes or misinformation disclaimers. Only the truth must be limited.

  • https://www.daz3d.com/kabuki-rogue-clothing-for-genesis-9-and-8-female   So wrong, on so many levels.
Kabuki (歌舞伎; Japanese pronunciation: [ka.bɯ.kʲi][1]) is a classical form of Japanese theatre, mixing dramatic performance with traditional dance. Kabuki theatre is known for its heavily stylised performances, its glamorous, highly decorated costumes, and for the elaborate kumadori make-up worn by some of its performers.

Rogue, stealth, black clothing, because you know, stealth. Please use fantasy names for erm..."outfits"  like this.

it will probably sell well though surprise

  • I have only today come across a prop set in the QG store, Wanderer Props. One is a sextant. Now I have a particular interest in sextants, having for a period of 20 years had my own design on the web. During that time it was the only free full size design for DIY building and global navigation (mostly intended as a backup if GPS failed rather than the primary method, though it is at least as good as century old sextants). I know of 10 that have been made, and one lady in Spain built one herself as part of her Master Mariners qualification.

So.. I looked hard at the sextant in the Wanderers set, and I am sorry to say it won't work. It looks roughly right, but the angle of the lower mirror would actually prevent it from working. The lower mirror needs to halve the angle between the pivot and telescope, it cannot work otherwise.

At the current angle, looking through the telescope, the only thing you'll see is your own pupil. Furthermore the shades are not perpendicular to the light beam from the mirror, so will create refraction errors which in turn cause navigation errors.

Just to warn you, not to use this model as a way of understanding sextants or a design to make from

What about the one in this set?

    https://www.daz3d.com/rosemill-astrometry

  • That one will work. The lower shades pivot in an orientation that means they won't help shade a bright horizon and the upper shades don't pivot perpendicular to a light beam between the two mirrors, so will introduce errors if used. However, the sextant should work. They are terribly simple instruments at heart. Regards, Richard.

I have found sextants, some of them magically hovering over the ground.
Probably they were on sale like https://www.daz3d.com/rosemill-astrometry
which is on sale in Daz 3D shop.

There's an ongoing problem with products in DAZ and other 3D stores with items that either can't do what that item is normally supposed to do, are technically incorrect, and/or are just plain misrepresented as something that they are clearly not.  All the rooms without doors are bad enough, but I really get annoyed with toilets without seats and/or fused lids, bathtubs without any plumbing for filling and/or draining, hand shower attachments and gasoline hoses on pumps that aren't poseable, cars where not even the door opens, aircraft with the landing gear either non existant or permanently down, unmovable window shades and curtains, refrigerators that don't open, etc.  My favorite worst case example was that there used to be a "movie projector" here that was clearly made by someone who seemed to have no idea how they actually worked, as it had a reels of brown videotape instead of positive film print with sprockets, a tape recorder mechanism instead of anything that resembled a sprocket advance mechanism, and to top it off the lens wasn't even in line to project anything... however, since that product has since been moved to another store, my current favorite gripe focus is the "Missing Jet," which is so clearly a propeller driven plane and not a jet that I can't believe that it went into the store with that name, let alone that there's a similarly mislabled prop plane over at Renderosity. >-<.

I like this jacket and pants: Mixu Paws. The hood can be hidden by turning off the surfaces, since when it's placed in the down position, it hovers above the back slightly, although that may be due to autofit. There are lots of morphs included too. The hardware isn't rigid mode though.

    Thank you :)

  • I saw Feng's Lauren HD and felt reflexively guilty about some (as yet to be revealed) misdemeanour. She looks so much like a teacher to me, I can't feel anything else. Really impressive. However, she's definitely NOT going in my cart, as I don't want to feel any more guilty when playing with DS than I already do. Nonetheless, the character is a really impressive sculpt.

I try not to post like this but why are there no coffee machines in today's Coffee Shop asset? No doorway/hallway for restroom facilities. No back room to store bags and bags of fresh coffee beans. No roaster. It's a great looking space. At a minimum, it needs some doorways out besides the main entrance. I wonder if the entrance door is rigged.

Giko's portrait bust of Akhenaten seems to be very well done. However, the relief plate once again shows signs of AI sloppiness; for example, in the king's face. No, that won't do...

How much I would love to see the idiosyncratic Akhenaten, the only monotheistic pharaoh, as a Daz base figure! Since he liked to portray himself as somewhat androgynous, he would also be particularly well suited for Genesis 9. The extravagant Amarna style could be toned down a bit to make it more “realistic”, as in Giko's portrait bust.

  • And, to go with him, Nefertiti, too. The bust held in the Berlin Egyptian Museum suggests a stunning beauty. Would be interesting to see the two as they were.

    Richard

The T3d Meow Cupid for Daz3d House Cat looks off. The chain closest to our view should be larger (near rib) and smaller further away at mid back. I also notice another odd thing or two . . .

    NM, DAZ finally fixed store

While I wait for the https://www.daz3d.com/mua-bundle-for-genesis-9-vol2 linkages to be fixed for the third product, I have two observations about poses. The https://www.daz3d.com/mua-101-full-looks-lie-make-up-system-for-genesis-9 Showed a woman applying blush to a sitting woman and I hoped we had a set of poses that had been asked for in the past few months, but unfortunately no. The pose set, https://www.daz3d.com/mua-glow-portraits-poses-for-genesis-9-feminine and standing, sitting and expressions, but no makeup application.

But my other issue not a PA responsibility but DAZ's. The standing poses where the characters are dressed in a full bathing suit that is flesh colored, are blanked out as 'Mature Content'! Not one of those poses is lewd or pornographic. They are designed to show-off the character, an outfit, hair, makeup, just as the expressions will. This is not the first time I have clicked on a 'Mature Content' and opened it and found a fully dressed character and a normal setting in the promo. DAZ, you really need to get ahold of how that label is being slapped on the promos and evaluate it. I don't know if it is a human, AI, or an algorithm that is cracked up or what, but please look at it.

Full nudity, BDSM products/clothing, extreme gore is what I would hope would be put behind a shield. But a child in full clothes playing with a toy/pet in a perfectly common setting is not 'Mature Content' nor is a lady standing in a full bathing suit or leotard.

Nudity will be filtered regardless of whether or not it is "porny" - indeed in the store it shouldn't be, the filters aren't intended to be that permissive. But yes, in this product it does seem unneeded and I have flagged it up.
