It seems to be getting worse. I now get these timeouts several times a day - every day - whareas in the past I might get one a day along with a few slow-to-load pages. The issue makes posting and responding uncertain because I often get a timeout when I hit the "Post Comment" button. I believe that CloudFlare is a huge concern used by many top companies so I have no idea why this website (especially the forum) is so unrelaible. I can't thik of any other site that gives me such a headache. I stream both Netflix and Amazon when I am in front of my TV and never have a problem with buffering, etc. My internet connection is not the fastest but it is fine for what I need it for.
Request #395344
Please get rid of the useless, annoying, and inaccurate "Added to cart" popup
Today at 18:37
When I add an item to my cart, an annoying popup window appears showing what I just added to my cart. That popup is useless and just gets in the way of continued shopping. Now I have to close that popup to go back to selecting items to purchase. Daz is discouraging me from continuing to shop, by making me stop and close that popup every time I add something to my cart. If its intent is to show the total cart content and price, it has failed, because the prices in that popup are not the same as prices in the "real" cart at checkout (see screenshots attached). This price discrepancy is just another Daz 3D inconsistency that is frustrating and angering customers. It is NOT a customer experience improvement!
PLEASE get rid of that worthless popup!
The popup price shows $1.60
The real cart price is $1.20
Have you filed a ticket with the issue and the suggestion?
I bet you have an auto-response set up.
Isn't that "Request # 395344" a ticket number?
Well that's how things have to be suggested and concerns should be put forth. Daz doesn't follow most of the threads in the forums so how are they suppose to know what people are thinking?
I was just making the point that your response is always the same and very predictable. Yes, we all know that we have to log a ticket to get a response from DAZ but people like to voice their concerns here on the forum - isn't that what a forum is for? Not to mention the fact that support are notoriously UN-responsive and, in my experience, especially so with suggestions (there's a special black hole for them). I get that a moderator has to remind people of procedures but it does get frustrating when complaints and suggestions are clearly and routinely ignored. Maybe someone from support should be delegated to monitor the forum? Especially threads like this which have direct input from DAZ people.
I thought the purpose of HypnoHedgehog was to know what we are thinking...
HypnoHedgehog sees deep into your soul.
...it even evades my popup blocking software.
I'm not a fan of this notice either. A little "added to cart counter" would be just fine, maybe in the upper right corner like some unrelated stores do; nothing too fancy and certainly nothing that blocks 1/4 of the viewing space.
Maybe it needs new batteries?
I'm using Adblock Plus and "Block Element" kind of works (not sure if that's base ABP or an add-on) - the data transfer still happens but the pop-up doesn't display. The background still fades - click anywhere on the page to restore the previous view instantly.
I am now getting host errors on this site every day. Every. Single. Day.
Often a page is waiting for quantummetric...
Visiting Quantummetric's site and reading their pitch put a smile on my face though.
Well, the latest forum improvement has dropped!...
NO BANNERS/SIGNATURES!
Mine are gone and I can't see anyone else's... tried multiple browsers, operating systems and PC & Mac.
Nothing.
Cool.
This is our lives now.
McGyver - My banner also disappeared a few days ago and I had to reload it. This may work for you: in this forum, click on the cogwheel > McGyver > new cogwheel > Edit Profile > Signature Settings. I had the banner text but not the image and when I checked the link, it brought me on the Daz start page (link to image was not valid anymore).
As a commercial entity this about the most dumb thing one could do... not sifting through the one platform their customers have for feedback and asking for them "use the ticket system"...
Thanks Horo... yeah I went to my profile and the signature field is empty except for a tiny blue square.
Now I have to track down the artwork I used for the banner if I'm to upload it again.
Fun times.
I'm still seeing the banners, but opening in new tab or saving the image doesn't work, so here's a screenshot
Right. And I suggested earlier in this thread that DAZ might delegate someone to monitor the forum - especially threads that they, themselves, have started (like this one). I understand the reluctance from DAZ. Around 20 years ago I worked for a company developing email server software and the userbase was quite large and so we added a forum for the users to discuss the software among themselves. Our management told us NOT to monitor the forum because that was taking up time that could be used more productively on developing the software.
However, I was not a developer - I was a network support person concerned with making sure that users had a reliable connection to the server. I often used to spend my lunch times reading through some of the forum threads which could get pretty heated (we didn't have the same strict moderation policies that this forum has). Others did the same in their lunch times. It soon became clear that problems we were not aware of were the subject of complaints and even anger on the forum. So we started listing them and the lists started to go back to the developers. Eventually the management instigated a new system of rotating staff in an official forum monitor task.
Some progress lately. Looks like that hot zone on the black toolbar doesn't overlop the blue one anymore (again). Adding to the cart shows the current discount price on the pop-up/overlay, even if it changes with the number of items (like with the Flash Sale). And, finally, the DAZ Originals filter seems to have been restored to its usual ability.
I don't get why it's implemented like that either. A small confirmation would be appreciated, but the big pop-up, and especially the extra click needed now is really annoying. We do a lot of reorganizing in the carts to make discounts work, this just adds a whole lot of clicks.
More/better search and filter options please. In particular:
This would probably need more work, but it would also be nice to have:
I just received an email notice that someone posted in a thread I am following! This is the first notification in a month! Did something get fixed back to its old working unimproved state? If so,
I got 3 it's like Christmas!!
Yep - 3 for me too.
502 and 504 errors are still happening way too frequently. Notifications are nice to have again, but when the links only go to 502 and 504 errors, that is frustrating.
