I tryed a whole evening installing Renderosity products to my smart content pane without any luck, i only see a product icon. When i click on it i only see a square image with a yellow triangle. The log show only 1 item is installed. Any help would be appreciate it. I am pretty sure i configured everything correctly.

For you information i am on a Dutch computer (remember the issue with the Text tattoo? it wont execute the script due to my language) just saying)

You only see a product icon for Content Wizard or for an item when you try to Install Smart Content?  Can you post the log?

Ok.  That looks good.  Can you save the configuration for this product and post that?  I want to see what you classified everything as.

i am not understand **Ok.  That looks good.  Can you save the configuration for this product and post that?  I want to see what you classified everything as.**  can you explain a bit more what you need?

    thanks

    I mean

    1. Start Content Wizard (CW)
    2. Now hopefully you haven't tried to install anything else and CW is still set up for the problem product.  Otherwise, you need to make sure everything is exactly set up for this product
    3. Click the "Save Configuration File" in Content Wizard and save that configuration to a text file.
    4. Copy and paste the contents of the text file to this forum thread as a post.

As a general rule, use "Save Configuration File" for EVERY product you want to install.  This saves everything you have told CW about this product, and you can reload it at any point to update things (or help me debug it with you)

OK, I have installed some products and they appear in smart content.

However I have a significant problem. One product was a Rendo Maddelirium character (MDD Theory) (G8). Now when I use Daz, Genesis 8 Female isn't linking to any items such as Wardrobe, so I can't Filter by Context to find anything. Genesis 8 Male is working as per usual. Genesis 3 female loads slowly, but is working with smart content. Genesis 8 Basic Female and characters appear in the smart content pane. However if I look in materials, I can see MDD Theory (+ one other which I've been meaning to uninstall as it appears with everything).

Any suggestions? I'm guessing that the cock-up occurred with the smart content install for MDD Theory, but I don't know that. There are a range of faults reported in the log, but there have been quite a few of those before.

Nothing comes immediately to mind.  I am guessing G8F WAS linking to items such as wardrobe before using this product?  Or you hadn't tried in awhile?  I wouldn't think that installing MDD Theory could mess it up.  Can you post your CW configuration for MDD theory?

OK, I will try to find that. Just to confirm G8F was working fine yesterday, then I installed CW, and added some items. When I load G8F base and select it, I can see MDD Theory materials and nothing else in Materials.

That is really strange.  CW neither changes the G8F compatibility base nor any other item's compatibilities, only for the product it is working on.  Unfortunately, I have nothing from Maddelirium to test with.

Actually, the order for things is to:

    1. Add zip files
    2. Set the Product Name, Vendor Name, Store (using the drop down), ID, and Product Icon
    3. [Anything else]

I usually do things in this order:

    1. Add zip files
    2. Set the Product Name, Vendor Name, Store (using the drop down), and ID
    3. Analyze...
    4. Verify and edit analysis
    5. Save Configuration File
    6. Install Content
    7. Install Smart Content
    8. Save Configuration File AGAIN (the smart content install changes some things based on talking with the DB)
    9. Save and close CW
    10. Verify the product is working in DS... if it is:
    11. Restart Content Wizard
    12. Clear the product and do the next product

  • Thank you @DoctorJellybean!  I look forward to hearing what you think.

So far (just a very quick look), even after installing the Smart Content, the Export Zip button doesn't become active. If I click Refresh Analysis, it becomes active.

I would have liked an Export option for the Runtime\Support files so that one doesn't have to install it first.

I forget why right now, but I needed to have the files installed in order to create the runtime support files.

So when a zip is added, and the analyze process is started, the zip gets installed? Or does it gets extracted to the working folder?

For analysis, the product is unzipped to the working folder only.  Only when you click Install Content do any files get copied over.

Ok, so maybe the scanning of a temp folder isn't neccessary. If it gets unzipped to the working folder and analyzed, then an Export option instead if Install should be good enough.

Maybe, instead of loading a zip, it can analyze a temp folder and create smart content for the files in the temp folder.

I could possibly do this, but then nothing better be put in that folder that shouldn't be there.  At least with the zip files, I can verify things.

That would be up to the user to make sure the folder is empty.

    Understood.

You could add a disclaimer that anything exported is not covered by your support :)

  • Ok, I will look at this tomorrow.  It is almost midnight my time.  I am sorry for the problem.

    Only midnight? Slacker laugh

And all is well: uninstalling and reinstalling Genesis 8 Female Essentials has solved the problem for Genesis 8 Female and other figures linked to her.

Oh, awesome!  I am glad to hear that.  Does MDD Theory still work?

    I have had failures with:

    Palamo's The Machine (Rendo)

Nirvy's dForce Peppery sweater'n' dress (Rendo)

Hmmm.  Unfortunately, I don't have those.  There is one, Barn One, that @Surreal is having trouble with (and that I do have).  If I can figure that one out, hopefully it will help you.

Just run a simple tes of Smart Content/metadata for a 'rosity prodiuct. Works nicely - even if I did foget to make sure a product icon was selected ...!

What seems missing, for me, is the ability to select (as opposed to typing by hand) individual content libraries wholesale for an actual install (I tend to direct installs to different libraries for each vendor).

So can you select the product from within smart content? I am not having any luck getting Renderosity product Berry, or MDD Monet rar file to install into smart content. Everything works well up to the point when I hit "install smart content" and I get "there were errors during installation".

I am investigating an issue with Barn One from Dreamlands.  If I can figure that one out, hopefully that will help with your issue.

From what I can see there is but one place tospecify an install location, and that is a text field which comes pre-populated with a folder (not sure where picked up from) that is teh default install location for DAZ content.  I I know there is the while 'redirect' thing, but I am not sure I want to use that.  What I'd want is to be able to pick a product's zip file(s) and pont the entirety of THIS install to a different base content library, preferably without having to manually type in the hole directory name. I have 6 DS content libraries defined (as well as 6 poser runtimes, which of course I do not need for this!).  If I get a product from 'rosity I instal it into my 'rosity content library'. If I get a freebie I put it into my 'other' content library, DIM will put my DAZ stuff into my Daz content libray, and so on.

You'll ne un un-rar and recompres as a zip file for Content Wizard to find/cope with the product.

What I did was find the zip files for a [prduct I had already installed and just got Content Wizard to generate metadata/Smart Content for me.

Ah.  I think I understand now.  While you cannot set it per product, you can easily click that Daz Content button and select a new location.

True, and sorry, I am not sure why Ithought it was a manual entry ... I think I was thinking of something else and it just stuck!  Still be nice to have a drop down list of the defined libraries (and a Briwse ... option)

I'll continue dabbling - even for auto-create metadat for currrently installed products makes this a worthwhile purchase, thank you!

Also, why do I have to uncheck 'Filter by Content' to find it - this has got to be one of THE most content agnostic products out there! cheeky

The metadata for CW is defined by Daz smiley  I will have to think about what to do about switching.  I am sure there is something; just what is the right solution is the question.

  • Some good news!! I was able to successfully install Berry for G8 Female from renderosity by unzipping the rar and redoing it as a zip. Then I saw "uncheck 'Filter by Content' to find it" and I was able to see Berry in Smart content. However, the rezipping did not work for the other Renderosity models. I still got the install error. But some progress is happening.

Two steps forward, one back for me ... What I am doing is just 'Install Smart Data' for existing installed products. So, witht aht in mind:

If I forget to fill in Vendor name and Store name (any chance of more store names?) the install of Smart Data wil fail saying that Daz Studio returned 'product X' when 'product trying to install smart data for' product was requested to be created, and that 'Product X' seems to always be the same one (from 'another store'  Remembered I had entered those data when the 1st product I did worked, so went back and tried abnother, and it worked wher it had not before - joy, rapture! Then did another and this time it is complaining about a that 1st product I did smart data install for:

@stacywallace, it looks like your error is slightly earlier though.  Have you set the artist/vendor?  Could you save your configuration for this product and post it here?

@riversoftart it was attached to my original post : https://www.daz3d.com/forums/uploads/FileUpload/ce/f81fd6bbf219ee272461219cee2d80.txt

And yes to setting both the artist and vendor.

So can you select the product from within smart content? I am not having any luck getting Renderosity product Berry, or MDD Monet rar file to install into smart content. Everything works well up to the point when I hit "install smart content" and I get "there were errors during installation".

Ive tried installing Peppery Sweater and Angelically Naughty by nirvy and a pose from Most Digital Creations, the installs do fine and they show in Content Library but I get an error every time I try to install the Smart Content.

  • I was having problems as well installing the smart content. Seems like if I put something in product ID it will work. If it is empty it dosen't.

If I'm not mistaken, it needs a product ID.

If it's a 3ed party (i.e., non-=DAZ) what is teh correct 'thing' to use for Product ID. especially if, as it seems, it is a pretty much required field.
