I love all the detail to the new release but honesly I don't use old world stuff too much, if ever but one thing that REALLY caught my eye was the mess on the tables.  Just added an extreme layer of realness to the whole thing.  No one eats without making at least a little bit of a mess.  I'd buy a set for more modern uses that included variations of messyness like crumbs, salt and pepper granules and what not.

Here is a re-make of an render I did in 2015. The original (can be seen here) is my most successful image here and at DA (successful meaning most like here, and most views and favorites at DA). There were just a few things that I wanted to improve on the original, and this is what I came up with (more info on the new version can be found by clicking on "Gallery Link" below). I think it must be better, since in 48 hours it got more favorites on DA than the original had in over 3 years (the DA version is slightly different)! Although, as I suspected, it looks like it's not going to be as popular here now, since there are so many great images in the gallery.

Image Title: Morning Coffee (Redux) (Gallery Link)

Yeah, it's easy to see why that got so much attention.  It's spectacular.

    Thanks soooo much, greatly appreciated!!

I would really like to turn your heads to the new ROG Red Crow Inn

It's just an awesome setting with incredible details - made today two renders - look!!

    and the second one:

Great renders! This set is amazing, and it's just about as close to a "Make Art" button that I've seen. Below is a "straight out of the box" render. I just loaded the scene preset, selected a camera, and hit render and 2 min. 49 sec. later I got this (I did adjust levels in Gimp a bit just to make it brighter)!

Edited to add: Whats even better, is it includes multiple resolutions to help manage your GPU memory!

    Dangerous Liaisons

    Dangerous Liaisons

Another dark image from me. This is for the PFDLives Edition of Llola Lane's Monthly Render Challenge. The themes this year are "Opposites Atract" and for January it's "hard and soft." After doing the Forgotten teddy bear for the Daz Edition, I wanted to do something a bit larger in scope. And when Unique Fabrics came out, I just had to use those somehow, (that shader set is addictive!) Setting up the scene was easy, but the lighting gave me fits. I wanted her and the romantic setting to draw the eye, and the thug in back to take a bit of time to notice. This is my second attempt, actually. The first attempt just didn't look right!

Lothar, your images using the Red Crow Inn are really nice. @DustRider, That's amazing. So much detail to render so fast! Did you use lower resolution materials? (And what Nvidia card(s) do you have in your system, if any…?)

@Fishtales, Those look great. I'm delighted you got an upgraded system, because I love your images, but it was always so long between uploads!

@Olo_Ordinaire, Your foxhole image is very evocative. It also proves that one doesn't need a big expensive set to tell a story. Talent trumps assets. Very well done, imo.

@Oso3D, You always entertain with your imaginative work! T-Rex and aliens? Just wonderful. I have to admit, too, I really like the look of those braids, and that's saying a lot for a dForce Hair product used for human hair. I'm not yet a fan, but if more are released with this attention to detail and decent materials, I could easily become a convert!

Even when it drops to CPU it is still a lot faster than the old Laptop :)

Dangerous Liasons includes a second character, in the back, in the shadows, there on Daddy's orders to make sure Romeo doesn't turn Casanova. I actually put a lot of work into the character, so here's a closer shot, with better lighting.

This pose with the Vintage Leather Jacket was only possible because of Mesh Grabber. It would have been even easier if we could rotate the mesh, but I understand that will be available in the future, along with the ability to scale.

This set  ( ROG Red Crow Inn )  really is beautiful, and it also works as one of those contemporary "theme" watering holes.

P.S.  I'm not completely satisfied with this render.  The lighting is really warm in the Inn and I didn't have the time to tweak all the light sources.  But I guess it's Ok just desaturated a bit.   I didn't use the PA's cameras or render settings, so perhaps I'll go back and explore his.

Thanks, I use the DOF (depth of field) on the camera and set my focus distance accrording to my render needs to blur the background

It'd be nice to pretend that this was cleverly planned for the 10th Anniversary of Mass Effect 2, but the reality is that it's actually because I'm finally getting around to playing through all of the series...

    Gallery Link

The Asari is my G8F conversion/modification of DarioFish's Genesis-era freebies (punched up a little with some custom displacement maps). The other ME assets were found on DeviantArt. Also, a good excuse to use several assets I'd had sitting around unused (I think I picked up both the Marcoor Corridors and the Seasectoid in the last PC+ Anniversary sale, but I'm pretty sure I'd not yet used either).

I'm not entirely happy with the lighting - I'd have liked to have done something darker and more ominous, but after several failed attempts at getting something I liked, I ended up abandoning it and just going with the brighter lighting.

I think it looks good.  As far was the lighting, you can change the emission settings of the lights or you could adjust the Film ISO setting under the Render Tab-->Tone Mapping section.  There are a few settings you can play with in there.  Finally, you can darken the render in a graphic art program (Photoshop/GIMP/MidiBang; last 2 are free) in post-work.

Here's another render with the Red Crow Inn -- this time I tried to remain true to the period and intent of the creators.

I rendered it to an EXR canvas, but even with the HDR data to play with, I couldn't tweak it in a way I actually liked.

I would have liked a strong contrast between the light sources and the scene, which in an unbiased renderere either called for some non-linear adjustment of the lighting in post (which I failed at) or trying to darken down all the surfaces to reduce the amount of reflected light (but I didn't have much success there either, and it would have made for a pretty sluggish render).
