Ok, guys, the linked pages were wrong (from yesterday) and so the ones on the promo page were not discounting. All fixed with correct linked pages, too. Thanks for reporting.
It is, however, not necessarily going to be an indication of how many outside of the forum it works or doesn't work for either. Most people post when something doesn't work for them and not when it does. So at best, it's indeterminate. The only thing we do know is that Daz is aware and continues to work on it.
Right, but I went straight to those pages and hadn't looked at the promo pages. When I saw the pics posted is when I realized what was happening. Again, thanks for posting those (the two of you who did).
This is the bit that makes no sense to me. They have a quick solution that they could have implemented a week ago if they'd wanted to: Switch to coupon based daily sales that work once per customer and have a new code each day. They have that code to hand, and they are simply - and inexplicably - choosing not to use it. In my view that is showing contempt for their customers.
It doesn't make sense from a staff time management point of view either. If their IT team has truly spent a week and a half working on this without success, when they could simply have switched to the tried and trusted coupon system, how much staff time has been wasted? Not to speak of how bogged down their customer support team is likely to be.
Very logical, @radia :)
I find the $2.99 special is not working this morning, but the $2.99 less 20% w/new item *is* working.
I also don't understand why they simply have not gone to a daily coupon that would activate the sale for each person once per day... I don't work in IT but it seems simple enough in principle... anyway, wishing everyone a Happy New Year and luck in getting the sale to work. I have only gotten it to function 2x in like the last 8 days... no go for me today...
I get the $2.99 price - but if I add any NEW item, the discounts all disappear and the items go to full price.
LOL. I miss the old days when the DAZ glitches benefited the buyer, not DAZ.
The disadvantage of using coupons is that people can not then use another coupon, eg the PC+ ones to make the deal even better. Of course that is small advantage when the deal does not actually work.
@Chris Palomino that's the thing ... DAZ knows it doesn't work so why keep promoting a busted sale? No one has been able to buy from this sale and if they have its very hit or miss or are only getting part of the discount at best. How does DAZ plan on making this up to their loyal customers who have sat here trouble shooting this broken sale day after day on DAZ's behalf? This sale has only worked for me maybe 1 or 2 times out of the how many days? I didn't report every day that it worked or didn't work even tho I logged in every day to see if it worked and if I could buy anything as per the offered sale
Mod Edit: Please remember when trying to highlight something that color blocks, in general, are hard to read. I changed the text from black to white, but it's only a bit better.
The thing is Daz doesn't know that it doesn't work, not truly. Daz employees can't make it go wrong Daz Moderators can't make it go wrong and when it does go wrong it goes wrong for different people in different ways, sometimes even different errors to the same person on different days. The percentage of people who are reporting it going wrong are not the majority of the customer base. The Daz people have asked for screen shots, they have examind them used the self same cart contents and cannot get them to go wrong. So far they haven't had that "AHA" moment when suddenly you see the common denominator. Once they have found a common denominator a bug is fixable.
There is always another sale. XP
I hope there will be a good end of the year sale on the 31th, till that I don't think much could change.
It's a pitty Darcy was 8 only a day long and now Tristan is running for 5 days.
Bloody thing is that this sale was almost a total loss for me, and as long as nobody knows what caused it, it is not improbable that things like this will affect me again during future sales.
My faith in the DAZ Store has drastically dropped.
@Chohole the point is the sale doesn't work as advertised and you are only seeing this from those who come to the forums, how many come to the sight, find the sale just doesn't work again and go elsewhere to shop where the sale does work as advertised?
Here is what I see in my cart today ...6 items no new over 1$ each item is 2.99
Add new item over 1.00 prices at 2.99 shoot up to 9.95 no 20 % additional discount ... how do you propose I purchase these products as per the advertised sale without having to spend more than I should have and wait for CS to fix it for me which means my money is tied up for X number of days which in turn means I can't shop the next sale. I know you moderators do your best to help but this is the companies problem and they need to figure it our or quit advertising a sale thats not working.
A few days ago I suggested that they log on with the account of one of the many people who have stated that it does not work for them. Have they done that?
I was about to post offering to do exactly that as I appear to be one of the worst afflicted.
The 2.99 sale is transient and I have come to terms with it not working. What is concerning me is that the last Flash Sale did not work. Haven't had another one since to test if it was a one off. If not then I will then be one very unhappy customer.
And until then I guess its not considered a bug? so doesn't actually require fixing.
No. The vast majority of people won't post at all, for a wide variety of reasons, and many more will only post when they're specifically aware that something is wrong... which, between how confusing and convoluted as DAZ's tortured use of the English language often is, and how many people don't check their actual checkout receipt totals, is probably extremely often.
The real problem here, though, is that when the same problematic bit of code and verbiage is re-used for multiple days and there doesn't appear to be any visible evidence of an attempt to correct it. At that point the folks who HAVE reported it are certainly going to start makinjg assumptions of their own.
That is speculation very close to being expressed as a fact, I don't think the guys in marketing would be very happy to see that comment, given the time they have been spending trying to work this wretched problem out, in their own time, not in normal working hours.
one word about that for the short version Passwords?
Want it longer, passwords are not available to anyone except the account holder.
This is why they asked for itemised shopping carts, with sku numbers and screen shots.
Well considering that the sale is only supposed to work on 5 items unless you put a new release with them I would say that the fact you can get 6 means the bug is working in your favour. Be interesting to see how many you can add before the system realises and puts the prices up. How many other people are getting this and not reporting it I wonder?
I was offering to let a bona fide DAZ employee use my password for test purposes, I can always change it afterwards.
To be fair, I can't imagine that marketing is happy with the last five or six pages of this thread, and although I tried to be as clear as I could that those are NOT accusations or statements of fact, I've gone back and edited my post to remove the list of possible speculations, as that wasn't the point of the post and is probably detracting from where the real emphais was supposed to be - on the phrase "there doesn't appear to be any visible evidence of an attempt to correct it" Change the value amount, make the price of the required item less, more or drop it. Something that says Hey look, we changed something! We're really doing something! This isn't just cut and paste!
It is, but until you have found what causes a bug you can't fix it.
I had assumed that password info was available to Daz, since the Daz website software verifies our passwords when we log in. Maybe a user, for whom the sale is a constant failure, would be willing to share their password with Daz for debugging purposes. They could change their password afterwards. Daz could award them some free store credit for helping out.
See my post above, the most information they could get even logging in as me would be the last 3 digits of my credit card number. I have no issue in helping out.
Edit to save confusion on post times and time zones.
Sure you can, it just means accepting that what you have is somehow broken, taking a deep breath and saying "This doesn't work right. I'll stop doing this, this way, I won't do something exactly like this again and if I have to do something similar, I'll try a completely different way of doing it." The trick is to remember that what you are trying to solve is the PROBLEM, not a bug.
Yes, they could have chosen to change the offer, assuming people who can take those kind of decisions were available to decide it. That's not fixing the bug though, which is what the post I answered was talking about.
I imagine that in a couple days this will all be over, and the new year and a new sale of a different type will be offered. Life will go on, some customers will leave, most will stay, the bad feelings will fade away eventually, and we will quickly find new things to excite us and new things to complain about. Maybe Genesis 9 will appear, and people can start the numerous threads about how mad they are about being expected to buy everything all over again!
I'm a Poser only user, hardly buy anything that comes in Duf format only,. and DAZ sales that have anything of interest to me are becoming very rare....
