misadventures with hats and bonnets. I should parent the bonnet to Laura's head and rescale it. Or I can try using another hairstyle on Laura's head. I rendered the scene in Daz Studio 3 without the shadows to save rendering time.
Video memory (OpenGL preview window) usage: ~115 MB.
...or a bottle of Coca Cola.
...I once did a picture of a young Leela scolding a Catoblepas for eating all the sweets.
We never really had a Coke campaign with polar bears in the UK, there was the CG ad with the Aurora but that was it.
I plan to get Gia 6 tomorrow, she's a good shape and face and the texture looks good. The HD morphs have me intrigued, it's possible there will be a Gen 6 equivalent of Elite which uses these with textures to match. That could be exciting....
CHEERS!
...ah, found it. didn't think I had a saved copy.
"There you are, and you're eating momma's sweets again. Bad, bad catoblepas!"
That's quite a creature, where did it come from?
I like the look of that Lost World that's just come out, great looking landscape scene, could look really good with LDP-R lighting.
CHEERS!

DS 4.6 render
nice closeup. thanks for posting the render.
Yeah, nice render,
What was the lighting rig?
CHEERS!
Thanks, starionwolf and Rogerbee.
I have used one Advanced Ambient Light
http://www.daz3d.com/advanced-ambient-light
and one Advanced Spotlight
http://www.daz3d.com/advanced-spotlight
Rendered through volume camera from
http://www.daz3d.com/atmospheric-effects-cameras-for-daz-studio
Rendering time was around 4 minutes.
Thanks for the information Artini.
Atmospheric Effects Cameras for DAZ Studio is on sale for about $7.50. I should buy it now before the sale ends. If runs too slowly on my computer I can always return the product for a refund.
When using volume camera I have found important to increase light density (I have used 0.0035) and quality (I have used 60).
The default values for volume camera does not work well for me; I cannot see any volumetrics on the render.
Some good examples were posted by barbult
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/27675/P690/#463594
and thanks to her post I use volume camera more often in my renders.
...here:
http://www.daz3d.com/catoblepas
...he'd actually fit pretty well in the Lost World set.
..I'd get it. Unlike fog and haze props/pluguns that render with the scene the atmospheric cameras have little to no impact on render time nor do they slow down the viewport when working on a scene as they don't come into play until rendering. the Volume camera is the only one that does slow the render process but still not as bad as "in scene" volumetrics.
I use these cameras a lot for different effects
Nice!
Not a bad render time either. I have the advanced ambient light but not the spotlight or the effects cameras. I'll definitely look into them.
CHEERS!
Thanks, that he would. Decent price too.
CHEERS!
...how did you get such nice clean skin rendering? I'm using one Advanced Ambient and two Advanced Spotlights on a character and their skin keeps coming out all grainy like I'm using UE set at 16 occlusion samples.
Oooh, look what we have as a new release, more from Lantios:

CHEERS!
I think the quality of the textures is very important.
Another render with the setup like before. This time FWEJ Sayuri
http://www.daz3d.com/fwej-sayuri
from the same creator as Greta
Total Rendering Time: 3 minutes 15.6 seconds
Below are my settings, the rest was default values.
Volume camera:
Light Density 0.0035
Quality 60
Advanced Ambient Light:
Light Intensity 25%
Advanced Spotlight:
Light Color 192 192 192
The skin on that one looks a little dull compared to Greta's, which seems to be enhanced by the sweater, which looks photo real. If the skin looked as real as that did then you'd really have something special.
CHEERS!
Personally, I love them both. Great job.
That is why I have rendered another character (Sayuri) to check if only light conditions matter,
but apparently Greta has more details on her skin, so the render with Greta looks better to me.
I'm trying to learn how to light my scene with volumetric cameras. The foreground looks o.k. but the background and tree are too dark for my tastes. In the interest of time I setup the volume camera in an existing scene and then I rendered the scene without shadows. I disabled the distant lights. The scene looks too bright and washed out wen the distant lights are on.
The user guide for Atmospheric Effects Cameras for DAZ Studio mentions city Density setting. Does this setting exist? I cannot find it in Daz Studio 3 or 4.
I'll buy simple godrays soon.
edit: ahh.. I forgot to fix the bonnet.
I see, maybe changing Sayuri's settings to those of Greta might help.
CHEERS!
...The City density setting would be for the Fog Camera. In the presets its the "Haze" and 'Smog" ones
..still that looks really nice.
You might want to try the fog camera with the medium Vignette preset. You can also change the fog distance and density.
There is also a free set of Godrays (more basic) over on ShareCG.
"Checkmate"
http://fav.me/d6se3kf
...I'm beginning to wonder about that, though I've used this particular skin map before and it has looked much better than the results I am getting in the current scene.
Very nice render, Arch_Clan. Is this the render from Daz Studio?
Could you possibly share some details about your lighting setup, please.
Another render with light setup similar to the one used before.
This time is Gia with Greta's skin. She does not look so bad to me.
Also used:
Udane Hair http://www.daz3d.com/udane-hair
dress from http://www.daz3d.com/tec2-cat-for-genesis-2-female-s
and roses from http://www.daz3d.com/sugar-roses
DS 4.6 Pro rendering time: 4 minutes 42 seconds

thanks! and no I rendered this using keyshot 4. I used a free hdri from this site http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html
