In last year's sales you would normally end up with pro bundles for ~$24.
So no, this isn't.
I've seen that sort of thing an awful lot as well, in what I usually do, always trying to find tactful ways to tell clients "It's not about what _you_ like so much as it's about what your target customer likes."
I don't know... I have almost no personal desire to buy characters this young, but it could be useful for YA stuff, and the associated sales are pretty decent (other pro bundles come down to about $28 with it - if they only included H goddamned D I'd buy a half dozen.)
Yes, and sometimes it's hard to diversify and branch out where you have harder data on what you've made before, and taking a chance on something different (or with less of a track record) is perceived as too risky.
There's the Lee 8 pro bundle, which, at least during the release period, probably didn't help out the sales data on non-white, male core characters.
Buy anyhow, I buy the pro bundles more for the outfits and hair and other included characters than the core characters at this point. Still, I would love to see a core character that really excites me...if not POCs (and there are so many that have yet to have any representation in the core lineups), then more fantasy characters that aren't just the generic werewolf, vampire, etc. (note that I still bought Landon and Tasha, lol). Centaur was really exciting, as was Reptilian and Minotaur. Or more Creature Creators that include textures as well as morphs.
I've been really stingy on getting the main gen 8 figures. Monique was a deal that had Monique 8,7, and 6. Edward was a trigger for something else, and Victoria probably was too. Aiko & Josie because they're used in other figures. The only figure I actually got for herself was Zelara. I've bought plenty of side characters, but not so much on the mains.
But I really like Bridget, and will probably get her. I like the Blair and Riley hairs and Urban Adventure Outfit too, so I'm thinking about a bundle. Maybe - that's not much from the bundle.
for the giming part. should have been in the bundle... but

btw..whats with the gamer girl cat ear stuff? I've found a few products herr and elsewhaere with those same cat ears on headsets, etc
like her, I actually don't have any younger characters so shes useful to me. Very quick render.
Bridgett 8 a very nice break from the last two pro 8 occultic themes. I didn't hesitate and picked her with the Daz Originals offers and other adds for about $55. Awesome deal!
Not strictly Bridget 8, but part of the bundles is https://www.daz3d.com/riley-hair-for-genesis-8-and-genesis-3-females
Have you seen where it appears in Content? I have put in an update request to correct this.
Overall, nice looking model. I got the HD also, for better expressions and reducing the fishmouth to more realistic thin lips. The add ons in the bundles were unappealing. I like the pale freckles, and the way her upper eye region over eyelids make her gaze just a bit rebellious. I prefer faces that are distinctive without makeup, and it's been a while since such have been offered. I'll have to download her and see how she looks with some tweaking. My fingers are crossed for the natural eyebrows I saw in the promos. EDITED I would like to get rid of the "whistle" hole in the middle of the lips. I have several morphing tools, but that is a stubborn feature.
Well, I like the gamin look (not gaming, I don't know anything about gaming) Anyway, here's one of a couple test runs today. I modified a bit here and there, in the cheeks, the nose slope, and tried very hard to get the whistle out, which made other distortions.
Yes, that is what many people do not understand when they brush this aside. The issue is representation. There might be more minorities around the store, but they are not Daz Originals, and yes, that matters. Daz Originals are given much greater prominence in the store.
My count might be off, but I counted 38 Daz Originals for Genesis 8.
32 of these are white, 3 are African American, and 3 are Asian (and that is if you count Sakura.)
So white characters account for a 84% of all G8 Daz Originals. If Daz Originals were a state, the "Republic of Daz" would rank as the 15th whitest state in America. But America certainly isn't the only place that Daz sells to.
I just cannot get freckles to render decently. Lighting in DS is already absurdly difficult. Trying to do it when it half my lighting attempts make some freckles stand out like beauty marks is too much work.
And I really don't need any more "fantasy pantsuits". Daz has included one of these in every Pro Bundle for the last ten years. I have twenty of them. So a bundle with TWO of them in it is not a value proposition for me
She doesn’t have to be a nerd
This is 70% Bridget + 70% HD (forgot HD on body) with 50% Audrey and a smaller waist and more cleavage. Most of what I do involves pretty girls, so... The Cool Kitty textures seem too young for her, better for anime or younger characters IMHO. She looks to be about 27-32 to me, not that young, even when mixed with Audrey who seems younger than Bridget. I like the bundle, glad I got this one.
This is a lovely portrait.
Can someone render her with the "weight" morph applied? I'd like to see what she looks like as an overweight nerdy type before I decide.
Someone mentioned Lee 8 not being a 'raving success'.
I feel the need to point out that the reason I didn't pick up the Lee 8 pro bundle (yet) is that the associated sale offer at the time wasn't that good, at least in my point of view. For the year and a half up to Lee 8's release, The Daz sales team had created certain expectations r.e. Pro Bundle release sales, and Lee 8's sale was significantly less compelling.
The last two pro bundles (Landon 8, Tasha 8) were in a similar place for me. The deals were less compelling to me than previous offers, even with the purple banner thing. Although for those two, they didn't really bring anything to the table for me that I needed. previous gen characters have me covered, and I still use Genesis 3 extensively. Plus, the stuff being offered in the bonus deals was in a similar situation - not much there at all that I wanted or had a need for.
I'm now also pretty much in the same place as a number of other loyal Daz customers that have bought a lot of stuff over the years. The 'other Pro bundles on sale' part of the Bridget 8 sale is much less compelling to me, as I have already acquired a number of pro bundles, and those that remain for me in the Bridget 8 sale, well I already own the base characters and a few other things in those pro bundles that remain for me, thanks to being a 'diligent' Daz sales shopper over the years. I couldn't afford/wasn't willing to buy the entire pro bundle(s) in question for just one character at that time, plus the 'parts' of said pro bundles that I already own were on sale when I grabbed them, so the discount on pro bundles offer in the Bridget 8 sale is much less interesting to me.
The Aiko's are a good example of this. I own all of the Aiko characters (3-8) except the Original (Generation 1) Aiko, but do NOT own all of The Aiko pro bundles. I do own most of the included products remaining Pro bundles that are in Today's sale (say 75% of said bundles), In at least one case, I own everthing in the pro bundle, but didn't buy the Pro bundle as a package to acquire all of the products in said pro bundle.
I currently own every Genesis 8 Pro bundle up until Lee 8, btw. Edward 8 dropped at a weird time for me, and is one of two examples where I didn't acquire an '8' pro bundle until much later. At that time, I didn't know that you could 'pre-purchase' Platinum Club memberships but still get credit for your 'unused months' at the time, and we had a 5-6 week stretch there where Plat Club didn't go on sale, so I was waiting for the next Plat Club membership sale. I since found out, during the annual PC+ anniversary sale in November that my 'renewal date' had a year added to it, even though I had resigned myself to the possibility that I'd lose 4 months of my existing membership when I renewed early. So when I saw 12 months added to the expiration date, I was a happy camper. But I digress. I did end up buying the Edward 8 Pro bundle during a subsequent sale for what I felt was a good price.
With the Bridget 8 sale, I'm not all that interested in the character, but at least some of the other stuff looks nice. Plus, normally I'd want to reward the PA's that bothered to include low heeled shoes in the products they made for the pro bundle. But yeah, as I said before, that $50 off doesn't go very far when you are talking 'full price minus the plat club discount' prices on Genesis 8 items, which tend to be higher than the prices for previous gen products.
For those that like to stretch our limited Daz dollars, the fact that the pro bundle deals are becoming less and less compelling is troubling in a way. Sure, the sales team doesn't HAVE to put anything on sale, but I vote with my wallet. In my mind, this is the best way to let the Daz sales team know that the deal they put together wasn't a winner for everyone. Other than these posts of course, but whether the sales team actually pays attention to these threads is debatable.
So long story short, yeah the associated sales offers matter to me a lot, which is why I don't own Lee 8 as of yet, and why I'm waiting for a really good deal on said Pro bundle. And the Daz sales team 'changing gears' on the associated value of any given Pro bundle sale does matter.
So yeah, Bridget 8 is cute and all, and the 'low heeled outfit' options make me rather happy, but I'm not in a hurry to pull the trigger on her. I need to stretch my limited Daz dollars as far as I can.
I don't know if you were referring to my post or someone else's, but I agree. The point I was trying to make was that I don't think you can judge how successful white core characters are against POC core characters if the release deals are different, and in the case of Lee 8, way more expensive than any other G8 Pro Bundle upon release. I bought him upon release just because I really wanted it, but his (lack of?) initial sales shouldn't be attributed to the fact that he was a non-white male character. It was most definitely at least in large part attributable to him being way more expensive. I recall reading lots of comments from people who wanted to buy him, but not at those introductory price points.
Having fun playing with the Bridget Audrey mix. The teeth were too yellow for me so fixed in settings. I can hardly tell that HD was applied though...
You can get kitty ears headphones and some gaming accessories with this bundle too: https://www.daz3d.com/gamer-girl-bundle
For me it's a girl/woman that plays videogames just like male gamers they run the entire age spectrum...
The 3D/gaming industries are largely geared towards the "majority" demographic, so you should not expect another 6th generation of inclusion for the base figures as that was a fluke; we'll just have to rely on PAs (They are the ones that are the glue that we/this company relies on!) to provide the proper range of races/cultures aside from the token black/Asian couples that daz 3d does.
That is, until the next generation replaces the old guard...
Get this https://www.daz3d.com/skin-builder-8-for-genesis-8-females and any of the many morph kits or mix characters you already have. Why do people want their personal ideal characters out of the box? Seriously, the fun is creating your own...
I’m so glad I got her now. I do like the addition to the gene pool. 70% Bridget, 60% Zelara. I think people are getting too obsessed with Daz’s marketing her as a gamer. She can be anything you want! That’s why we have morphs, surface settings, and most people have tons of other characters they can mix with too.
I am noticing though that the skin on her hands/arms are a bit lighter than her face, but it’s not really a deal breaker for me.
Thanks @ALLIEKATBLUE!
First I try to make them sexy, then test for big smiles lol.
She’s cute a very nice character to add to the G8F line. But the older I get I find myself gravitating to the older characters closer to my age. ;)
Show us your curves and lets help you decide...lol. Just kidding. Couldn't resist. :)
Since so many complained about “another white girl,” I experimented with 100% Bridget morph and used Skin Builder 8. The truth is that facial morphs with the melting pot world we’re in can go with any color skin and vice versa...
