(It's just like normal sales, but the discounts are different and there's a big banner saying Premier Artist Festival.)

How are the PA sales organized? It's 1 big sale of all PA items, or gradually one by one PA's catalog?

It's hard to say what Daz will do as far as discounts and incentive to buy are concerned, but there will be new releases daily, much as things have been. Normally, the featured artists on any given day are those with new releases in that day's sale. In past PA sales, Daz has featured numerous artists that don't have anything in the new releases. And it is typical to have a couple of days in the middle of the month, and a couple of days at the end, with all the artists on sale. The typical discount for these are 50%. That said, Daz seems to do something different for every sales event, so what was done in the past, what was typical in the past couple of years, doesn't mean it will be the same this year.

But you don't have long to wait to find out. I'm pretty sure the PA Festival starts in a few hours, at Daz Midnight.

Oh... and the OTHER thing about these sales is that the deals tend to change at, uh, a different rate than usual. Sometimes daily.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,924

So there's your answer, if you buy two of the Debut items, that puts their price at 55% off, and the featured stores at 64% off (and the Mega Fast Grab stores to 75% if you buy ONE Debut item, don't need two)

  • Frequently it starts off slow, and suddenly gets intense, too - sometimes because of glitches but often it seems, intentionally.

It has to speed up at some point. We have 7 A-letter artists today. There are 26 letters plus the numbers. And even with the letter A, there are 33 artists.

When I first started buying here about a year and a half ago nearly every sale had stacking discounts. So it trained me to only buy when things got to AT LEAST 75% off in the cart. Getting used to no more stacking has been hard. Definitely hard to get excited about 50% off and 60% off when almost all of my purchase for months and months when I first came here came to like 80% off or more in the cart. I don't buy nearly as much or spend as much as I used to. Having said that though, the PAs probably appreciate that they got rid of the stacking ...maybe? - I wonder if there has been a difference in their incomes since the stacking discounts have been pretty much squished for most sales. Due to the stacking, I ended up getting items I normally wouldn't buy and ended up spending more. I wonder if others did the same and that might affect how much money the PAs make. Hmmmm It would be interesting to get some feedback from some of the PAs on if their monthly incomes have been affected (negatively or positively) since they stopped the stacking for most of the sales.

Exactly. Me too. I spent a TON of money last year, wiped out a big chunk of my savings, took advantage of major sales and stacking. I bought soooo much stuff I didn't really need and still haven't used, but bought them at inctredible discounts IN CASE I would use them some day. Those hugely discounted items, sometimes under a dollar, added up often to over $100 in cart and I did that way too often. So that's over $100 each time going to Daz/PAs, I would not have purchased at 50% to 65% off. Daz & PAs have to rethink the stacking. I barely buy anything anymore, (maybe because I have so much I don't need anything new) but I'm not even tempted at the current prices. I will be buying some merchant resources and anything amazingly new/different, maybe things like toons, but will only buy new things at more than 50% off and if they trigger major stacking (80% and up) on older stuff.

And dont forget the catchup sales.  The past few years there have been weekend catchups.  Not sure if they will do that this year but you can bet there will be a store wide PA catchup sale at the end of the month

I think almost everyone who was real active the last year or so agrees on this... what I think of as the "veteran DAZ shoppers," in the forum have all expressed some dissatisfaction at the way stacking has been "fixed," on the most recent sales.

I just don't buy as much. It has to be something I really want - and even then, I'll hold out forever for a really great discount. I passed up a bunch of Pro charcter bundles like Tween Ryan and Isabella 7 in that last round of deals because they were still up around $28-$34 for pro bundles. $15 is where I like to be.

We've seen the pro bundles in the $15-$20 range a few times, but you have to be around almost 24/7 to spot these. Yesterday I bought the "missing" pro packs for around $23. They will probably get cheaper at some point in the future, but there'll be plenty of new bundles to buy by then... :)

I almost got the Monique 7 pro bundle at $28, but decided to wait for it to go lower. I don't need it, I have Monique 6 and tons of characters of color, V4 and up. I also really want the Ophelia 7 pro bundle but am willing to wait for both to go much lower, I can wait or skip entirely...

They should do orange banners giving special discounts to people who have been purchasing on this site for over 10 years and are so saturated with content, that there is very little motivation to buy more...

Yes, and perhaps at midpoint, too.

BUT....IIRC, when they do the catchups, you may lose the benefit of them triggering the other sales that went with it. For example, you may get the Debut items from today, but the Mega Fastgrab stores at 75% off- no.  And you may not get the buy 2 Debut and get an additional 20% off the featured stores that are there now, it may not be any stores, or different ones. When a day sale is going on, the combination may not be repeated. Just a thought, because I remember last year wishing I had "bought it the first day it was offered."

Good idea, but I'd fine tune that and not base it on the amount of time you've been buying. Daz knows how much you have bought, so IMO they should do it by amount spent. I see people posting (in members only section) about the amount of content they have, how long they've been shopping- and you can see the length of time vs what they own varies. (and amount spent doesn't necessarily mean the same number of products. Some people buy at 30% off, some at 40% off, some at 50%...)

I'm literally afraid to find out how much I've spent here. I do not want to know! I know I decimated my savings and I could have purchased a really nice new car, and if I didn't live in LA, probably a nice small house somewhere!!! That's why I'm only going to buy things on extreme sale or that I REALLY need and that I can actually render on my CPU only Mac (or in Poser.)

I suspect that is a common tale, though some details will be different. In my case, it would be a used car, and I don't live in LA. But I did decimate my savings. I breathe a sigh of relief every night as I check the new releases and don't find anything I have to have right now. And then I go and spoil it all by doing something stupid like... overspending when the discounts on back catalog stuff is 75% or more!

  • Does anyone know if all new items qualify for the DAZ BYOB promo?

Does anyone know if all new items qualify for the DAZ BYOB promo?

If you mean this one: https://www.daz3d.com/08-19-byob, the answer is no, only the items on the sales page, newly released on 8/19, qualify for the promo.

:sigh: My cart just tripled in price with today's offerings. Hate it when it does that. Did stuff lose their discount or something?

edit: now it's back. Man, I HATE that. Gives me heart palpitations every time.

  • Glad I came back here and saw that comment, Jakiblue. Made me check my receipt... and...

DAZ charged me $93 for a cart that was supposed to be $24.

I wonder how many times that has happened to me where I haven't caught them. I guess DAZ and the PAs aren't the only ones who lose money due to glitches from time to time! :)

    Ticket submitted.

  • Whoa, you bought something you thought was going to cost $24 and after paying- it was charged to you at $93?!

Or just the cart total flipped? Please say the latter....

Please help us with pics of your carts so we can see if we can try them.

If you add the urls to the products, you cut down on our work a bit helping you.

it was the cart total, I think he's saying. The flip must have happened as he checked out.

Did the email receipt say $93 or $24? (I imagine it said $24 but it could have said $93 and you just checked the prices of the items). Hm, no, that sounds silly.

Just trying to find out if the receipts are reliable.

Mine had definitley gone back to the normal sale prices when I checked out - but even if it DID flip while I checked out, it wouldn't have gone through at the full price. I don't have that much money LOL.

  • I don't have that much money LOL

Lol I was going to compliment his life for not noticing that debit.

I hate the 'should I stay or should I go' part of cart-waiting.

So many times the deals get sweeter as the week progresses- and so many times you miss and lose out.

No. My total before coupon in the cart was $30.45.

With the coupon, it was $26.45

When I looked at my PayPal invoice for the order, PayPal was billed the non-discounted price of ~$93...

I double checked by adding all the items back into the cart and making sure the discount was what I thought it was supposed to be.

My guess is that I hit submit exactly when Jakiblue was seeing her issue with the cart... somebody was doing something and mine processed while the discounts were disabled for just a brief moment. Here is my order:
