You are mixing two very different ideas. If you have no use for it, then the sale isn't for you. Such is life.
A slim budget is unfortunate but only applies if you wanted it and couldn't afford it. If someone doesn't have any use for an item, having $0 or $1,000,000 has no bearing: they don't want it and won't buy it.
My point though is being willing to take advantage of a sale is always optional. There's no obligation on the seller's part to make every deal perfect for any specific customer.
Never seen this error before. Missed yesterday's sale because I didn't wait to see the purchase finish. Oh, well.
There's a few people here that seem unable to understand that argument. Usual replies often use "but you only have to go Premier" or "just use 8 tokens" without realising that some people not the funds to dish out enough money to even gather single tokens in a month.
Daz is a business. Nobody is entitled to generous deals. If you have to buy something (you may not want or cannot afford) in order to be elligible for a special offer, then that's perfectly fair. If you can't see value in buying item X (which costs maybe $10 or so, less with tokens and Daily Dealz) in order to get a $5 item for free, then that deal is not meant for you. That deal is for people who get value out of buying item X and the $5 item for only 5 to 10 dollars in total.
I can see both sides. I've bought inexpensive items I don't want or need to get good discounts; and these days I mostly shop from the OS. That works for me.
its all very interesting and like a daily puzzle to solves. For instance, for the first time, my 50% WL item did the minimum $4.99. Truly, this is the first time I've seen that. Then I added the $1.99 Daily Dealz item, which I don;t need and will probably never use, (sorry creator), but that dropped the WL item down $2.50, which gives me overall a 50cent savings. So yea, all good!
I forgot to check out yesterday with the free DAZ+ item though. I cart jenga while having my morning coffee, then let it all percolate for the day to see if anything pops up, and often the cart just sits there and I miss the savings. That also tells a story, I don;t really "need" most of what I buy here, and quite often go over my budget. Thing is, I don;t drink so save a bunch of not going to bar, I rarely, if ever, go to coffee shops, we don't eat out much, sometimes going a few months, not into fashion or fancy clothes, its jeans and a shirt, big box discounts, don't eat steaks or expensive meats. Our cars are both 11 years old and paid off. Overall live a simple life. Yeah, we all have bills to pay, etc, and we live on fixed income, Social Security, but things are such there is some money to do hobbies and short distance travel, like to a park, or to visit family. If I go over budget something else not purchased. We're not at the broke and not eating stage.
It's all a game. To get amazing discounts, you first need a premium membership, accumulate a lot of tokens on Mondays or Tuesdays, buy specific items every few days to trigger the discount, and finally, five carefully selected items and one item with a half-price code are chosen.
I really enjoy this money-saving game. In my country, saving money is a virtue. Now I'm considering things more carefully. Besides whether I actually need this, I also hope artists can earn enough money. I don't need to chase the biggest discounts for artists I like, but the expensive hardware is ruining everything. My SSD can't hold all the new stuff I bought, and my computer crashes frequently while rendering. I'd have to stop shopping here for a whole year to save up for a new computer.
I really enjoyed this sale and bought a lot of things I liked and desperately needed. Although I used up all my tokens at the wrong time, it's okay. As I said before, I can ignore the maximum discount for my favorite artists. Now I'm preparing for one last transaction; I have to pause this fun until I can afford it again.
I've never had an SSD that could hold everything. I use mine for apps, along with any work files for projects and the like. Everything else goes on a hard drive. They seem old fashioned nowadays, but when you just need a giant bit-bucket in the higher terabyte range, they're far more cost effective than SSDs. That's even more so now that SSD prices have shot off into the stratosphere.
Also, I've noticed a lot of artists don't compress their DS files. The format is text based, so it can take up a LOT of space. I don't recall if file compression is turned off by default or some artists turn it off, but it's absurd the amount of disk space they can take up. For some items, they dwarf the size of the textures. And don't even get me started on the bad use of image formats... Even with a hard drive, my disk space is not infinite. Neither is my wallet.
Isn't that why some of us trawl these sales. I try to support artists, but only as much as I can afford.

Just a bit disheartened as the "feel" here today is different than it was years ago. Granted, such change is inevitable, but that doesn't mean one has to like some of it. It just seems that sales were in some ways better years ago as there were more opportunities to receive additional (and even stack) discounts.
Yes, it was my decision to not board the G9 bus, but that too was "economically" based as to re-purchase all the necessary content, recourse utilities, and plugins I use to "kitbash" custom characters is pretty much out of my means these days (being retired the ol' income is not what it used to be). Furthermore, some of the utilities and plugins I use and depend on have not been updated for the latest generation, or like Gen-X/X2 (which I find indispensable for combining morphs and assets from different Genesis generations), are no longer available.
You might want to try getting an old-school external harddrive and keeping your product libraries there. More reliable than SSDs, the speed difference is fairly neglibigle in terms of search and loading times, and tons more storage for the same dollar even though the price for an 8TB model has gone up from around $129 to $200+US in the last two years.
And there's no obligation for any specific customer to buy in a shop, that offers no deals that suit him, I agree.
Agreed, 8Tb game drives work quite well for expanded storage and backup.
I'd noticed an improvement going from a hard drive to a SATA SSD, back when those were relevant. The Gen 4 M.2 SSD in my new system is considerably faster than that. Given the number of random files Genesis figures load, my DS libraries would be the last thing I would put on a hard drive. However, I don't install every item I buy. I download the product zip files to the hard drive and only install the items on the SSD as I use them. I find that to be a better balance of speed vs storage cost.
In the past 10 years, I've had problems with three hard drives, one outright failing. Only that first SATA SSD gave my any problems, and it was at least five years old by then. I'd transfered everything over to a new SSD without any trouble. A decent SSD will last quite a while. I wouldn't trust any with QLC chips as a main drive though. Drives with TLC chips were reasonably priced when I got mine, but the price of all of them have gone up since then.
The price of everything computer related has gotten crazy, as the major manufacturers are unable to meet the demand for all the AI datacenters and everything I've read says that's only going to get worse before it gets better, if ever. That said, with HDD'syou can get 8TB+ in a single drive for the price of a 2TB on an SSD, which makes them a a far more economical choice for expanding storage, and definitely cheaper than buying a whole new computer. As far as reliability goes, I've been running multiple harddrives for the last 20 years and I've had two HDD drives fail in all that time, one within a year of purchase. By comparison, I've had 2 SSD drives fail in the last 10 years, one of which held my then-current copy of DAZ studio... but since all my libraries were broken down across several externals I didn't lose any of my pre-built scenes or characters. SSD's are technically more reliable for portable use due to the lack of moving parts, but are more likely to fail due to power and firmware isues, and then there's the fact that flash memory has a limited number of cycles.
Indeed, the price of many parts have done through the stratosphere, especially memory, GPUs, and storage. Before DDR5, RAM was almost a commodity. Luckily I managed to overhaul my system in the break between the crypto bust and the AI boom. With the ups and downs in the market over the years, I had a feeling that was going to be my one shot.
BTW, the read/write cycles on SSDs were mostly an issue with early drives and somewhat with QLC chips. In my experience, the heaviest load on a consumer drive is the OS page/swap file. That's what caused one HDD and my first SSD to act up. Newer SSD controllers have wear leveling to prevent excessive writes to individual blocks. A decent internal drive with TLC chips usually has a 5 year warranty. An internal hard drive is lucky to get 3 years. External drives of all types are certainly less reliable.
Personally, I mostly use internal drives as I build and repair my own systems--even laptops. When I need an "external" one, I'd buy a decent internal drive and a good external enclosure. Cost about the same and has a better warranty.
...yeah I'm having to consider backtracking to an AM4 CPU and DDDR4 memory, the latter which has also risen in price because DDR5 is pretty much out of reach for most of us. Even a 500 MB M2 drive (for the boot drive) is expensive.
Glad I still have that EVGA 12 GB 3060.and am extra 4 TB HDD in reserve..

I feel your pain on it, but there are a lot of variables here. I went to Newegg to have a peek. AM4 CPU covers a huge range of processors and price points. DDR4 ram is fine. I've got 64GB of low latency 3600 ram in my box that only cost me $225 in 2022. Looks like it would cost 2-4x more now, depending on how I buy it. That's no fun. M2 cards do seem to be up a bit, but not like ram. I don't know where you're shopping or what other parameters you have, but I can see it's a problem. That said, there are still hardware combos, refurbs, etc. I say again, it would be wonderful if you got to finally use that GC. Now, it's still a decent card, Wait long enough and it might be truly obsolete. That would suck!
...I use PCPartPicker as they feature components from a variety of sources and list current price comparisons (and evne discounts) for each including Newegg, Amazon Prime, and several other supply outlets like BH, Best Buy, Lenvo, etc .so I don't have to spend a lot of time going comparative shopping myself.
The current price on my system list for 64 GB DDR4 3200 CL16 memory I am seeing is 593 USD. Back in September of last year it was about 175 USD. It has gone up in price by more than three times. the 96 GB of DDR5 6000 CL 28 memory (upgradeable to 192GB) for the AM5 build I originally selected back then was 349 USD, it is now 1,499 USD.
The 1 TB Western Digital Black M2 drive I selected was 79 USD before the increase. It is now 219.USD. The price doesn't much change even falling back to 500 GB.
The total cost for the AM5, DDR5 upgrade is over 2,600 USD (that includes a WIn11 Pro (DVD install), Noctua D15 CPU cooler (for the Ryzen 9900X) and Kensington trackball (my current trackball is not be compatible)
The "step back" configuration (16 core Ryzen 9 5900XR and 64 GB DDR4 upgradable to 128) is 1,564 USD.
You have your choices, then. I built my system after prices broke, before they returned to "normal." My old system was not doing what I needed. I could have waited even longer, and I suppose I might have got a better deal. Instead, I paid a premium for the new system, but it was also a hefty discount at the time. I've no regrets for doing that. Now, it sounds like you're in a similar position, but in reverse. You did not buy when prices were lowest, but you have your best options for now. If you can afford your preferred position, you can do that. If not, I think you'll be happy with your fallback position. I suspect even that will be a significant improvement on what you've got now, and you'll finally get to use your 3060 and 4tb HDD. There's a risk because we don't know the future, but it seems likely that prices will remain high.
Only you can decide what you'll do. But if it was me, I'd look at the whole situation one more time, make sure I've picked what I want to use within my budget, and then order whatever makes the most sense and get on with life. That's the truth of it!
A lot of my WL items that are in Featured Artist don't discount properly with today's WL code. Trying to decide if I should pick something else or just buy the cute Dealz robot & see what the weekend brings. That will give me the benefits of 2 DDs for any good end of month deals.
...being retired and living on a meagre pension I had been saving whatever I could when the spike hit. Now that is on hold. Before prices went into the stratosphere, it would have taken almost an entire month's income cheque to purchase the parts needed (even for the AM4 rebuild). Don't have established credit so unable to go the "debt" route even if I wanted to.
The need arose due to the fact my14+ year old system does not have the required TPM module to move to Win 11.
Now it's waiting to see if the "bubble" will go *pop* and things get back to a semblance of normal again..
I hear you! I don't think it will go well if/when the bubble pops. Perhaps computer hardware will become a lot more affordable. That part would be nice. The rest sounds like a disaster. Tom's Hardware tells how to bypass Win 11 system requirements. Not sure how well that will go on your system. I'm still on Win10. I hope things improve for you on the tech front.

Does the "New items every 6 hours" mean the whole selection will disappear and be replaced with different items, or just that more items will be added to the list? I know nobody but Daz knows, but I'd still appreciate hearing how other people are reading that sentence.
...I looked at the "solutions" for bypassing the TPM requirement (and as I mentioned my MB is so old it doesn't even have TPM 1.0). .Not about to take any chances doing so as it can introduce instabilities in older hardware that can affect drivers, system security, overall performance as well as lead to unexpected crashes.
I have to keep treating this system with kid gloves as I have been doing over the last several years until I can finally get the components I need to perform the rebuild.
Normally it means a whole new group of items.
I'm wondering how many times we're allowed to claim the 5 at 80% off offer. Once? Once per round? Unlimited?

The product description doesn't mention a limit on the number of purchases, but given that this offer requires purchasing new products, I think the store wants customers to buy as many times as possible.
Total replacement. That's how it "always" works. If you miss it, it's gone. They want you to buy 4 new items. Nothing wrong with that. You just have to take a leap of faith if that you won't want something else later if you don't want 4 new items.
The limits "usually" reset each round.
