I'll surely grab Virtual World's new hair: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-short-morphing-hair-for-genesis-9

It looks to be useful across the 20th century and into this one. May also be useful earlier than that as a addition to other styles.

Yes. I also think that it looks good. One possible downside is that it may render slow. I'd have to do more tests to be completely sure, but that's my first impression. I guess it's normal, though; the set has many lights.

Hehe! No problem. I've barely used the Daz Studio in the last week or so. And this was a good opportunity to do a little something. laugh

Someone please tell me those aren't electric lamps in the medieval bedroom.

    Pretty please. With a cherry.

They are not electric lamps. Or at least I see no cord. So, they have to be magical lamps. Right? Right?

And if it is an oil lamp I wouldn't recommend to set something flameable near the flame...

They must be from a magical place, just like the tribal sketch framed on the wall, or the windows with leaded glass, or the Renaissance furniture, or ... Seriously, is it just me or is it getting worse? Is Chat now providing the inspiration pictures?

Or the printed books, which would also be Renaissance rather than Medieval.

There are really nice props in that set, but it's definitely not "a traditional Medieval bedroom" wink

    Really magical... mystical... prophetic... ;-D

The room and individual props from “FG Medieval Bedroom” https://www.daz3d.com/fg-medieval-bedroom  are beautiful, but how on earth did a baroque wardrobe end up in the Middle Ages? It must have been made by a carpenter with prophetic powers... The strange lamp in the baroque vase and the mirror also have no place in the Middle Ages. And no, there was no electric light in the Middle Ages...

++ The European Middle Ages began around the sixth century AD and lasted until around 1400. It was not until around 200 years later, after the Renaissance, that the Baroque style era began, from which this wardrobe, the mirror and the strange lamp could originate.

++ All of this can be easily researched on the internet.

++ Thankfully, tsroemi is setting up a forum for historical models (mostly clothing) under the title “The Romance of Certain Old Clothes: Historical Outfits Collection”. If you are unsure which era a model belongs to, it is best to check there; tsroemi's chronological divisions are also very helpful.

The Sacred Ark, in the jungles of Africa. Must add 'ability to teleport' to it's list of powers.

I am guessing it's an AirBnB in a historical medieval building

they need the income for the upkeep

It fits with the modern interpretation of history as "anything we like".

The Medieval period.. That was when the Vikings swam across the English channel with only their Ipads to guide them.

Absolutely legit photo below. ( This was taken by my Grandpa, who was hunting tigers in France at the time. He was well in with the Vikings having given Odin a light while they were in the trenches.).

My Grandpa also fought with Wellington at Waterloo, but Wellington cheated by telling him his laces were undone, and then clipped him round the ear when he looked down to check.

Right? I've learned to just sigh and shake my head at inaccuracies in general as people tend to see Medieval as anything that happened before Victorian, but just... the lamps. There's no excuse for the lamps.

I also thought the Medieval Home Interior was nothing of the sort. Like, can we start with that giant skull over the firepace?

The props and sets are lovely. I'll likely get them eventually. But this is definitely a kitbash situation. My stuff is more fantasy than true historical, aso I can take liberties, but there are limits to believably.

Isn't Skyrim an accurate guide then? [Hmm, I wonder if there is a pressure plate hidden in front of it?]

I treat all these sets as kitbash material. I thought some of the bedroom was vaguely Jacobean.

You need to update the Default Resources package by the sound of it - that is, download a fresh copy and install it (if you use Install manager or install through DS itself you should see the new version/updates as being available)..

Where can I get a fresh copy of the Default Resources to install manually?

    Thanks for the help

Try uninstalling, redownloading through the installation method you use, and reinstalling.

Inspired by the latest in the line of Medieval Bedrooms picture the following...

King Arthur and Guinevere relaxing in their bedroom one evening.. King Arthur leans back on the sofa.

"My lord, thou lookest very tired"

"Aye my love , 'twas a long hard day fighting ye dragons," "Could'st thou switch on the light, so that I can see my visage in the mirror?"

"My lord, sing with me while I make music?"

"Aye Guinivere, let us sing together"

Both sing while Guinevere plays the piano...

    "Knees Up Mother Brown"

    "Knees up Mother Brown"

"Under the table you must go"

    "Ee-aye Ee-aye Ee-aye oh"

    "If I catch you bending"

"I'll saw your legs right off"

    .......................

I sort of assumed that the "Medieval Bedroom" is meant to represent a modern bedroom inside a restored castle or the like (though the windows are too big for a castle). However the description does mention "Perfect for fantasy, historical, or gothic scenes", so I assume the vendors feel knights in armor relaxing on a modern sofa with the room lit by electical lights is a suitable "historical" scene.

If they had added a few gears it could have been described as suitable for Steampunk too. Add a few emissive surfaces and it's ready for cyber. It really seems that "Let the buyer beware" is the general theme to the store these days. Meanwhile I bought a new product in the DAZ store yesterday which is broken as supplied.

There is not a single thing in that room that is medieval.

    Including the room itself.

I like the Fortress Dining Room. How could I not when the dining chairs down the long sides are re-covered versions of the ones in our dining room? The carvers are different though. Someone has taste.. Regards, Richard.

I'm not going to go there. I'm not going to go there. It would be picky and churlish.
