    thanks for your help.
but i don't mean the LCARS terminal in the aft stations. I have a very good LCARS texture for them.
I mean the terminal on the left side. I think this is the terminal for the isolinear chips.
now i found something similar to it. now i use this and would change it by myself.
thanks mdbruffy the yahoo page helps me with my problem ;).

Seems to be the one image not easily found let alone explained on the 'Net lol ...

Your image creation looks good however might want to hold off on calling it an isolinear panel, those things stick out.

Or maybe make them stick out a little with displacement?
I tried attaching a "normal" but for some unknown reason the forum software is resizing it, not very helpful :-(

Isn't the display on the bridge station more of a blinkenlights status indicator, with the actual isolinear mounting panels down in Main Engineering?

    I think so.

    ....

Oh! You mean that the isolinear chips show up as indicating lights on the panel, okay ....

I hope someone's home. I need a photoshop compatible NG phaser effect- both starfleet and Cardassian.

Never mind. Found Eruderion's set at DA.

Not yet - you still have to maintain the freebie list!

Oh, yes - there are plenty of Alice outfits in the store.

If you're a Platinum Club member, I'd suggest this combo for V4:
    http://www.daz3d.com/wonderland-alice-v4
    http://www.daz3d.com/wonderland-alice-unimesh-fits
    http://www.daz3d.com/alys

    If you prefer A3 (and who doesn't? :) ), there's this combo:
    http://www.daz3d.com/alice-for-aiko
    http://www.daz3d.com/nightmares-dreams

If you have the MFD, there's this combo:
    http://www.daz3d.com/v4-mfd-wonderland-expansion-and-unimesh-fits
    http://www.daz3d.com/alicia

As for hair, there's always Kozaburo's "Alice Hair"

;-) Made my day ... so for whatever reason that one itty bitty item went awol from from Product Library, since 3D Universe is having a flash sale too, I bought, possibly for the 3rd time, that silly Dodo bird. I like it. For Scifi enthusiasts for another program, they also have a dancing frog thing. Hopefully this time it's crazy glued into the Product Library and stays put.

STMC has on their homepage a really nice version of the U.S.S. Enterprise-A (Perdriau design), When looking for it, search under non-canon ships.

Comes in both 3ds and Obj versions...

Very nice! I'll probably have to wait until I can get D|S4.8 installed with its Iray lights to get this little beauty properly lit, though. Presumably the "spotlight" effect is done in 3DS MAX itself?

Anyone know of a really good tutorial on how to model starships? I don't even necessarily care which modeler they use because while they may all have differences, they mostly use essentially the same techniques. At this point, I can't be too picky. I mean, I have seen a very few tutorials on starships but they dont go into detail. They make a basic saucer hull shape. Well, I can do that already -but what I can't do is the uniform windows (at least without resorting to booleans which create new problems), and all the various details on a saucer and so forth. I think I must have tried different ways and experimented about a billion times now. I have folders and folders full of aborted attempts.

I want to make non-canon starships we could all play with, but I just can't seem to find the proper techniques to do it. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

anyone done an Enterprise torpedo bay and torpedo?

  • RedfernRedfern Posts: 1,585
    edited December 1969

There's a fellow named kenny Mitchell (aka Axeman3D) who has modeled a fair number of Trek related meshes in Lightwave, including the torpedo casing seen in "The Wrath of Khan". He used to have a site labeled www.kennyscrap.com , but when I tried to access it, it sent me to an Asian "holding" site. (His domain may have expired.) However, he has contributed meshes to Foundation3D and he has a deviant Art page. You may be able to find the model at one or the other of those places. At the very least, you should be able to reach him and ask about the model.

As for the torpedo bay, that's an interesting case. I've been watching a thread at the TrekBBS started by one Donny Versiga (username: Donny). He's been modeling "game engine friendly" versions of TOS and TWoK era Enterprise interiors. I know, neither Poser nor DAZ studio can "read" game engine models. That's not really the point. Donny has researched the elements to the "nth" degree to create some mind blowingly accurate "sets". What surprised me was just how much of the Klingon K'Tinga bridge was actually reused. I knew they used the "shock absorbers", but the production, in summary, just removed the chairs and the helm console, the instruments lining the back wall (and placed within the "chamber of death"), made a "trench" for the torpedo and repainted the walls to better match the rest of the Enterprise interiors. Shoot, they simply cut a hole in the Klingon main viewer and mounted the torpedo hatch there!

Basically, one could similarly redress a Klingon bridge mesh. the trickiest part would be mucking about with the florr plate polys to make the "trench". There's a LightWave based K'Tinga bridge at Foundation3D (I think) and Madison Bruffy has a "near enough" Poser ready version. Either of those could be modified, in theory anyway.

    Sincerely,

    Bill
