    -21 here. Trade you.

C or F?  if C then when I went to bed last night it was -17.2C (-1F) and it was -2F this morning at 8:30AM.  Probably colder during the night.  Chilly willy! surprise  But not the coldest its been here.  I remember nights of -20F (-28.8C)  The snowmen would huddle in groups.

    F. That was the temp when I got up. It up to -11 now.

    Brrrr!!!! surprise

    Tell me about it.

Did like the forecast by Derek the Weather though

Welsh weather forecaster Derek Brockway says: "Thursday a front will move towards Wales. Sleet and snow spreading north in the afternoon. Widely 2-5 cm of snow, 10cm in some areas, 15-20cm on high ground in the south and east with drifting in easterly winds.
The other bit in Wales on line made me laugh
The snow in Wales is not forecast to arrive until the evening rush hour, so most people will make it into work on Thursday morning. There is a yellow weather warning for snow in parts of Wales, but the wintry weather is not likely to hit the south of the country until after 12pm. Forecasters are saying that the evening rush hour could be "tricky".

The weather warning was later upgraded to amber,    Oh and BTW I live on higher ground in the South East of wales.

:sigh: Was just talking to my landlady about how nice the weather this week has been with no snow or storms. Guess what? The guy on TV just said we're now under a snow squall watch for tomorrow -- and I was going home to Mom's this weekend. sad Should've known better than to tempt Fate.

Only a couple of weeks until spring but ...

Wintry mix of precipitation expected Monday night into Tuesday.

A low pressure system will approach Newfoundland on Monday. Snow and blowing snow will begin in the southwest late in the day on Monday, and then spread elsewhere by overnight. Snow will change to rain over most areas of the Island by Tuesday morning as temperatures begin to rise, with a period of freezing rain or ice pellets during the transition.

In central and western parts of the Island and over the Great Northern Peninsula, 15 to 25 cm of snow is possible. Over southern and northeastern Newfoundland, we are generally expecting 10 to 15 cm. In the southeast, 5 to 10 cm of snow will fall, with potential for a period of 4 to 6 hours of freezing rain afterwards.

Conditions are forecast to improve throughout the day on Tuesday as the system moves away. However, strong westerly winds developing behind the system may continue through into Tuesday night, generating blowing snow and reduced visibilities over some areas, especially over the west coast where persistent flurries and snow squalls are likely to develop.

Please continue to monitor future updates for this system, as details will become more clear as the event approaches.

... is what I'm looking forward to at the moment. frown

Here in the Eugene area, the recent snowfall put tens of thousands in the dark. Some got their electricity back the same day, but thousands are still without power a week later, and many will be without for another week. Especially those in outlying areas. I feel lucky we were without power for only four days.

I had 11" in the back yard by the time it quit snowing on Monday. It melted some, and then snowed again Tuesday night, adding another 6" or so. Since then, no more snow, but the nights get well below freezing causing real problems with the ice. People lost power Monday morning, more people lost power on Tuesday, and more lost power on Wednesday. A rep for our local power company saie it was like taking two steps forward and one back. (Some of those who lost power on Tuesday had had it restored on Monday, so they lost power twice!)

This is not a typical Willamette Valley winter. We almost broke a 1917 record for snow in February. Almost. lol I'm really looking forward to April showers…

Are you sure? If you still have all that snow cover the april showers could cause rapid melting and flooding.

I want to scream I can't stand the rain no more.   really though Ivys need sun to flourish & grow, over watering is not good. . lol

...we've been getting a late winter out here in the Northwest ( by about a month and a half).  December and January were mild compared to what we have been experiencing for the last month. Temps have been in the upper 30s to mid 40s, often with strong cold and gusty easterly winds like we would usually get in late December to mid January. Our normal high should be in the mid 50s at this time and normal low in the upper 30s to low 40s. We have been something like 10 - 15 degrees below those normals for a while now.  Normally we would see early spring flowers beginning to bloom and buds on trees opening by now.   Still looks and feels like the dead of winter out there.

Currently 27° with a projected low of 24° with more of the same tomorrow and tomorrow night (including more strong winds). The high today was only 40°, 15° below where it should be.

How are you people "down under" faring with the fires?

My winter up here near Buffalo has been weird.  Weather can't make up its mind.  Forecasters can't hit the wall much less the target.  Blizzard in November, bare ground & spring buds in February.  Then every day for the last week or so, forecasts have been warning of snow.  I've postponed two of my precious uptown chores trips because I feared getting caught in the predicted storm.  I wait and watch all day expecting snowmageddon, and go to bed with just glitter in the air then only to find only an inch of fluffy power the next morning, and that blows away or melts quickly.  I'm running low on groceries again especially consumables like milk, eggs and bread.  HOWEVER,  it has been nice to not have to dig out my car from under two or three feet of snow every few weeks.

I'm sure. There's still snow on the ground, but lots of patches of grass showing. Pavement is bare. There's a very slight chance of snow again in week or so, (but we all know how accurate forcasting is a week out!) By the time April rolls around, there shouldn't be any danger of flooding from snow melt.

Ha! Well definitely don't move to Oregon. Especially west of the Cascades! We walk on water, around here, every day of the year. (Or so a favorite t-shirt proclamed proudly…) When not dealing with a drought, it does rain here a lot.

It's not projected to be quite that cold down here, a hundred miles down I-5 south of you. But we're still looking at below freezing temps overnight.

About -17 F (-25 C) here tonight under clear skies. Its supposed to be warming up through the week to just below freezing by the weekend. Business as usual. April showers are just as likely to be April flurries, hereabouts.

(Oh, and no offense, but winter storms don't have names, outside of the Weather Channel's marketing department.)

    oh dear, snow is back

    • Winter Storm Gail will strike the Northeast through Thursday.
    • Heavy snow, gusty winds and coastal flooding will accompany the storm.
    • Over a foot of snow is expected from parts of western Maryland to southern New England.

Winter Storm Gail is spreading into the Northeast, where it will be a high-impact nor'easter packing heavy snow, strong winds and coastal flooding. Significant winter storm impacts are not only expected in the interior Northeast, but also near parts of the Interstate 95 corridor from New England to New York City and areas near or just west of Philadelphia.

Yeah, it's been snowing since about 3:00 this afternoon.  Not a lot because we're right on the western edge of it south of Buffalo and it's coming from the south and not from the west over the Great Lakes so it's not "lake effect" snows that can be quite heavy here.  We have maybe an inch or two by now.  I haven't looked out in an hour or so.  However, it did cut short my plans to walk to the grocery store.  A cup of hot chocolate and a cookie won out.yes

That picture below was taken about four hours ago down at the micro beach at the end of my street... the body of water is The Great South Bay... (Which is kinda great, but to be honest it's really more "okay"... If they had asked me to name it, I'd have gone with "The Exceptionally Adequate South Bay".
But people tend to leave me out of naming ceremonies...
Well, except for my friend, but ultimately he declined to name his son Thaxter Von Poopybottom as per my suggestion.

It had just started snowing and the wind hadn't picked up yet... It was extremely cold though... Colder than Poseidon's frosty butt crack...

Okay, I really have to stop saying that...
My wife made the mistake of asking me if it had gotten colder and that was my reply... and likewise to the next three people whom I talked to and I managed to add it to the next two things I wrote... not including this.

I'm not certain Poseidon has a frosty butt crack, but the sea spray freezes up rather frosty and I'm assuming if he out there menacing mariners with his trident and shouting at kids to get off his lawn (presumably the seaweed on the beach) his butt is gonna get frosty.

Okay... everyone go back to discussing blizzards, now that I've made this thread awkward.

Edited to add... That piece of pink styrofoam in the picture is really bothering me...

...just rain here, lots of it,  and chilly temperatures.  Never really liked it when it was not quite cold enough for snow. Upper 30s - low 40s, wind, and heavy rain (common from now until about March) is the most miserable of conditions as you get much wetter which makes the cold temperatures even more unbearable.  The "stay home" advice we are again under is not much of a bother right now as at this time of year, as I would rarely go out anyway unless I absolutely needed to (like grocery shopping or having to attend an appointment) or it was calm, clear, and/or dry, out.

I need a boost in income so I could afford to live in Hilo HI.

...still, Hawai'i Dreaming for me. At least the rain there is warm and it doesn't keep up for days on end. We've had over 3" of rain in the last two days. Would hate to think how much snow that would be particularly if it was the powdery type.
