What's the deal with the Beta program? It looks like an old beta from a previous version. The PDF notes show info from version 1.07 or something like that. Is there no longer an active beta for future releases?

1.5 is a new release. The beta is active, however we are not yet ready for sending the 1.6 Betas to the group yet. 1.07 was a working number that became 1.5 when released to the store.

I'm working on my first full figure, Pan, and well I had a not so good experience in ZBrush trying to make a "wig" for him. So I've created a bust version of Pan's upper bod, UV mapped it and then a skull cap, UV's too.
Can I import them both, not rig them but use them as a work template in LAMH to get a working hair model going??
That's kind of backwards, and a lot of extra work. You can import Pan into LAMH as a prop. Then you can create the hair and save.
So long as the mesh doesn't change you should be good. It would be a good idea to use the figure's final name, but it isn't a requirement. The name stored in the preset can be changed.

I have just started to play around with the latest 1.5.01 release, with the Latest Studio release.
I am trying to put fur onto two Genesis figures, Rawarts Yeti's..but Lamh will only allow me to put Fur on one of them, so I take it I still cannot add fur / hair to two of the Same figures in a scene.?? i.e. two Genesis Figures, or Two of the Same dog / cat figure type.??
I should add that I am generating fibre mesh hair, as I don't render in Studio, I export to Luxrender for Rendering..
If this is still a limitation is there anyway around it.???. I noticed in the manual you state that Exported Fibre mesh hair can be Conformed to a Figure...How would I go about doing that.??
Oh, also when I tried to load one of Rawarts, Lahm Presets from the Studio Runtime Library, Studio closed and crashed to desk top, are there still some bug issues.??

You can add LAMH fur to dozens of figures. The Yeti Preset was created to fit on a single figure named "Genesis". There are numerous ways to get multiple LAMH Yeti's /Sasquatches, with the easiest being:
1) Load the Yeti using the Character Preset in People/Genesis/Characters/RawArt/Sasquatch/1-Yeti_LAMH
If you have specific problems, feel free to email me krsears (at) trdc.biz, and you can always use the LAMH forums since you own the Full version.
I have attached an image with 4 Yeti's rendered. Soon, I will be posting an animation using several Yeti/Sasquatch in Animation to my Youtube page.

Again there are several ways to do this. The easiest to get a fiberhair onto a posed figure is to bring the posed figure into the LAMH editor, apply the preset/create your hair, and then export the fiberhair for the figure. In an upcoming update, LAMH will be working directly with Luxus to create the fiberhair automatically during render.

If you are having crashes, then I want to know about them. Please contact me so that I can give instructions for providing the info.

I'm very interested in this; does it mean the .obj fiberhair is automagically generated as Luxus processes the scene, or is it converting the LaMH hair to actual LuxRender strand hair as mentioned in the LuxRender wiki?
Thank you for your reply, I shall be in touch very soon and discuss my issue in more detail.
So just to confirm..IT IS possible to create fibre mesh Hair for more than one of the Same type of Character in a Scene.??
p.s. I use Reality 2.5 as my scene Exporter to LuxRender..
I shall check out the Lamh forums as well..
Many Thanks,

Hello S.K. (and other folks interested of course), I made a brief video that shows how to load presets and switch between multiple figures (3 Genesis in this case):
I was pretty much attemtping to load presets in the way you have shown, but I was getting errors from Lamh which told me that a hair asset already existed another could not be created etc (paraphrasing of course.!!!).
NOTE. I always export to fibre hair or OBJ I NEVER render in studio. On the occasions that I could get the hair preset to export Lamh will sometimes crash whilst creating the fibre mesh hair, or when I try and save a scene where it had actually succeded in the fibre mesh export phase.
I attempted to load the presets along with the figure, (RawArts Yeti, as Kendall suggested) and experienced crashes to desktops both times. I will be forwarding the Crash logs to Kendall tomorrow, along with my system details and an overview of what I was doing.
I shall also try and send you a screen vid capture of my workflow to show what happens when I try and apply a preset to a figure that is already in the Scene.. as an example I was experiencing issues where the guide hairs on the figure were streamed all over the figure like wire but they were over long and scattered all over the figure, not displaying as guide hairs should. I have been using Lamh since 1.0 and have even created some of my own presets so I have experience with using the App.
Other times the figure would not show up in LAMH, but I would have flashing red backgrounds on the Lamh view panel when I moved around it etc.
In anycase I will be in touch with you guys directly to try and resolve my issues, because as things currently are, I cannot use Lamh at all.
You're welcome, I am sorry that didn't help. Yes, when you can please forward the log files; just as it came to my mind, please check that by any accident you have both LAMH player and full version installed, which is known to cause issues. Thanks.

I am thinking of creating a bearded character with g2m but I do not want a painted on beard. I do not see any beards for g2m in the daz store. Thanks for the thread as it reminded me I have look at my hair. When I get home, I will try to find the manual so I can start making a sexy beard for g2m.
My question is how can I make this beard distributable? I would like to share it if it is good enough and if that is allowed. If not I want to burn it to back up so I do not have to recreate it every time.

You could post the preset to the LAMH website. They have a lot of user-created presets there. I was just lamenting the lack of G2M beards yesterday. If I ever get the time to learn LAMH, I'll take a stab at some beards. Body hair, too. Our men need some fur!

Hi, the Personal Code is automatically generated; the Serial Number can be found in your DAZ Account 'My Serial Numbers' page; with these two, you can retrieve the Activation Code.
.
Not for me it hasn't I'm afraid. I re-downloaded it and while I have the serial number supplied by DAZ I do not have the personal code to complete activation.

Hello Kane, you mean that the Personal Code combo box is blank? If so, would you please contact me at "[email protected]" so that we can work this out? Thanks
I keep trying to make hair with LAMH, but I find styling very difficult, especially since there is no collision with the parent figure, so it keeps getting pulled into the skull. This got me thinking.... A great feature would be the ability to read the geometry of traditional hair props as a starting point for the guide hairs. These tend to be made of of really wide ribbons, so not sure how best to convert them. But it would really help jumpstart creating a hair style.

All I can say right now is: :-)
For the moment, use the lock slider to keep the hair out of the scalp.
Alessandro, I like your animals very much (and I really hope for an adult Panda and a Koala soon), but what I miss in your store are some haircuts for the DAZ people. Males could need some more realistic haircuts for example. LAMH is more and more a tool to create hair for animals. Please take this just a suggestion.

Thanks and I understand (and agree) to your suggestion. As Kendall said, even if we have been silent, there has been lot of LAMH development that we hope to reveal soon.
I understand the newst versions of LAMH can export an obj file for use in other programs. Is it ok to sell this hair object in a commercial product? not a LAMH preset, as an actual rigged thing

Have a question

Kendall
Hmmm, OK. I've not got the main figure UV Mapped yet so this just seemed a faster way to me. LOL
Does LAMH create a cap if so I can dispense with using my own.
LAMH doesn't need a UV map to do what you want. You can create your preset and select the texture you want when you want.
LAMH attaches the preset directly to the model's mesh. It normally doesn't need a cap.
Kendall
OK. Thanks so much Kendall!
