...nope have to find a brick and mortar store that sells them.

I just use a 15$ one as like I mentioned I don't get or make that many calls to warrrant paying 40$ 50$ or 60$ a month and rarely even use all my minutes up before the 30 day expiration (unless I have to call some government office that puts me on hold for hours).  The local Safeway had a few for the phone I have, but they were all 45$ or more. If I could afford that much, I would have just kept the unlimited plan I had.

Sometimes I still miss ol' "Ma Bell". They gave you the phone, and you paid a very nominal flat charge for unlimited local service, The only way to run up the bill was by making a lot of long distance calls.

I have Republic only $15 per month for unlimited calls and text but no data. I can get data only when on a WiFi network.

...nice plan 25$ for 2 GB (whcih pretty much covers what I need for checking bus times, getting directions to places and bouying transit E-Tickets)  + 5$ one time for a new SIM card.  The downside, they don't support the LG phone I have (which is unlocked) so I'd have to buy a new one which I cannot afford, partiocularly as I will be 134$ poorer starting next month.

Checked with Cosnumer Cellular (also 25$ a month for 2 GB Data and the SIM card is free) and they also mention using your old phone but don't have a list of supported models. I have to do some net research on this as evne the person I chatted with wasn't sure.

They also give you a 20% discount if you are an AARP member.  If you go with them, tell them I sent you...I"ll get some kind of bonus.   blush  (probably will need to supply my phone number...hmmmm)

    Dana

...only if my phone is compatible.

Anyone know the answer to this... In your profile, what is the difference between your "picture" and your "thumbnail"?

In mine, my avatar shows up for both.

I think you can use a larger picture, then crop it to get the thumbnail

Ok, thanks... I was wondering if it was like one of those "profile photos" that some sites have where people can put a picture of themselves.

If I did it, it would be more of a public service, so in case I was walking down the street and someone recognized me, they could cross to the other side... Then again, the gorilla mask kinda negates the necessity of a photo.

But then again if you are in the N.Y. Tri-state area and you see a shabbily dressed individual wearing a gorilla mask, there is a good chance it you should cross the street, regardless of whether it is me or not.

I got threatened today.  I was told not to involve the house lady anymore or something like that. I am not sure what to do.

On other news, my webcam is messed up.  Is there a way to record a youtube video with an ipad?  My computer's webcam is fuzzy.  I need to do a short (2 to 4 minutes, I think) video for a class I am in.

Yes with my eye glass cleaner I think.  I need to do homework but that is not allowed in this house.  Only cleaning is allowed.

I am sick and tired of everything I said turned into lies.  I do not know what to do.  I am not a saint, but does that mean I am evil incarnate?

I saw some budget Nvidia video cards that have 2 GB of video memroy and 96 CUDA cores.  I don't think some of my scenes will fit in 2 GB of VRAM though.

...not allowed to do homework? That is going way to far.  Where do they expect you to do it if not at home?

Wish I would have hit the Megabucks last night, I seriously would be on a plane to see about getting you into a much more hospitable and living supportive situation.

@MissBadWolf   Maybe I am playing devil's advocate here ,but what do you have to clean? your own room? what would happen if you did clean it?

I clicked the X button on the upper right corner instead of the maximize button.  I had to re-open the web browser.

...normal wet Portland weather is back after a week of sunny but very chilly temperatures. Yep those ol' bone gnomes are hard at work today. Turned the heat on as my feet are cold.

    Now here's a prezzie I could use:

...and one of these to wrap up in (would save on the power bill)

    ....making Chinese later.

When you live alone are on a fixed imcome and any of your family is a 500$ airline trip away, holidays are indecision.  Buses are on Sunday schedules, lots of places are closed, yeah indecision.

The only good part, Wisconsin walloped Oklahoma in college hoops today 78 - 58 to stay udefeated at 5 - 0, and Da Bears are hagning on against Detoit, 23 - 16 (on an interception returned for a touchdown) with two minutes to go..

...hmm not a complaint there after Duke defeated Wisconsin in the NCAA 2015 finals. Bo Ryan built that Badger team with one thing in mind, bringing a National Championship home to Madison after a 74 year drought (as well as the fact Gonzaga is located here in the Northwest).  Most members of that Badger team vowed to stay, rather than opt out early to the NBA, for that same reason (we lost almost all of our star players to graduation after that season).  Don't  think I'll be around another 70 years to see it happen again.

Complaint:  Fried eggs.  Why is it so difficult to find restaurants that know how to fry an egg such that the whites are firm, and the yolk is not hard or runny? sad  Yeah, they're a bit fussy but they are possible.  There's just a moment when the yolk is starting to gel but hasn't hardened yet.  If you cut through the yolk it will slowly (I repeat, slowly) ooze out of the pocket, not gush.  That TV cook (whats-'is-name, who yells at everybody in his kitchen) knows how to cook that type of egg.  Is there a proper phrase to describe how to order that type of egg?  I try to get across to the waitress what I want and I always get either a standard yellow flood when I cut the yolk or it's a yellow hockey puck angry  The phrase is NOT "Over medium". frown  I can cook them at home.  You just test it by tapping the top of the yolk sack and if it ripples it's not done yet.  If it dents and slowly rebounds then it's time to take it off the grill, immediately!  If it doesn't dent then throw it away. indecision

When you cook them at home it's probably a shorter trip from pan to table, when eating out there will be time for the residual heat to affect the yolk (and if they try to allow for that the result may be too soft).

The mall is crazy.  I am on my break but that is almost over.  Too many people here right now.

  • I have zero desire to go anywhere near a shopping area today, or this weekend, or for that matter 'till after New Year's day.  Best way to save money during this season ... stay home and lock up your credit cards. enlightened

..ahh another rainy day in Portland.  Good reason to stay home and away from all the shopping mayhem. Thinking of a 64 GB USB stick to use for transferring folders with (9$). Saw a very authentic model of a Tupolev 114-D Rossya in OBJ format at CG Trader in their "Black Friday" sale for 26$ (aircarft models there usually range from 90$ - 200$ in price).  Really tempting.
