I probably can remove the bandaids from my fingers now.  I tried to donate blood today, but was slightly anemic so no donation today.

A non complaint my flash drive order from amazon shipped.  One flash drive for me, but the other one is a Christmas gift for Daddy.  Though I do not see who is shipping it.

Is Richard a Mod or a Rocker? And old enough to understand the reference? smiley

Well he is not as old as I am  but I think he will get it.

I was a rocker back in the day,  you still would not get me anywhere near one of those souped up sewing machines the 60s mods used to ride.

I was thinking of the Harry Potter thing that tells you if you forgot something, but I do not need one of those as I know I forgot something but I cannot remember what it was.  Was it something other than my phone again?

A "Rememberall"  They're available at Orlando's Universal Studios, Diagon Alley shops,  but I forgot to buy one when last I was there. frown

(But I did get a "TimeTurner" and Severus Snape's magic wand.) cool  Unfortunately, even with the wand I still can't get the Time Turner to work for me, I just seem to be stuck going forward at the same pace in this same time stream. sad

  • Hello all!  I hope all who celebrate it had a nice Thanksgiving!  I am visiting with family for a few days, and it's been nice to hang out with the people I love, even if a few of them do occassionally drive me batty.  cheeky

  • I have zero desire to go anywhere near a shopping area today, or this weekend, or for that matter 'till after New Year's day.  Best way to save money during this season ... stay home and lock up your credit cards. enlightened

I'm quoting myself here but I found this https://www.nbcnews.com/business/consumer/amid-pressure-overspend-holidays-consumers-embrace-gift-minimalism-n938901  today.  Verrry, eeenteresting! surprise  Apparently I'm not alone in avoiding Xmas gifting.  I stopped gratuitous gifting 14 years ago after staying with relatives while I was flat broke and unemployed and watching the rest of the extended family exchange an obscene amount of expensive gifts under an overdecorated, prodigious, plastic Xmas tree and afterwards helping to dispose of a mountain of wrapping paper, ribbons, boxes, packing material, etc.

...yeah came from the poor side of the tracks so our holidays were rather simple.

For myself, it's come down to jsut another day where everything is closed, it's usually cold out, and the buses run on lousy scheules.

We have very much toned down the gift giving.  Mostly it's for the kids.  The adults had an optional gift exchange thing, but I haven't participated for at least 20 years now.  Some of my cousins said they didn't come anymore because they kind of felt obligated to participate in the exchange, but I've never felt that.  My fam is great and it's nice just to see them.

What, wait.  If everything is closed, why do you need a bus schedule, even if it's not cold?  If it's for holiday dinner, then my family picks up carless members and friends (if you care to come over, say grace, and eat with us, you're family), and we bring them home afterward!  We wouldn't dream of making anybody ride the bus to come over for turkey or ham.  Get better friends!

Just kidding, I know everybody's situation is different...

    ...foggy night out tonight here.

Tired and feel a bit "beat up" as I had a not so enjoyable discussion on the net today with people who I considered as friends. Ended up throwing in the towel even though I still disagreed with their position just to put a halt to the situation before it got totally out of hand as I was starting to receive spiteful responses.  Basically the discussion revolved around a video posted to my FB page that I feel sent a very wrong and inappropriate message and when I pointed out why, I was totally jumped on. The only reason I am on FB is a that few groups I am associated with use it as their communication board, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered setting up an account.

  • Non-complaint:  Wheee... I'm rich! smiley  I forgot to update my compusively, meticulously, maintained financial spreadsheet yesterday after returning home from uptown chores (trash, lunch, drugstore, groceries, etc.) so this morning I checked my receipts and entered everything into my spreadsheet and I have $5.00 more cash than my spreadsheet says that I do.  I know the spreadsheet was correct before the update because I had checked everything and it had resolved properly just the day before.  So, somewhere yesterday I "found" $5.00 yes  and I have no idea how or where. surprise  Somebody must have slipped in an extra five dollar bill as I was getting change.  I'm a painfully honest person and would have returned the bill if I had noticed at the point of sale but it's too late now. cheeky

Complaint:  Flush with the excitement of my $5 of "found" money I made the mistake of glancing at an on-line auction catalog for Wednesday at 5PM.  Ooh, some beautiful hardstone (Lapis Lazuli, Rose Quartz, Amythyst, etc.) and Jade animal carvings.yes  Several starting at $50.  My adrenalin is starting to flow.  But my brain is telling me, they're very nice and will certainly bid up quickly to probably $90 or $100 which is over my budget.  But they are still very nice, and the ones that start at $100 and $150 are absolutely marvelous. heart  Sigh... sad  Slap hand, hide credit card, don't even watch the auction.  Sniff...crying

  • Be strong, man, be strong!

Me, I'm trying to hold off until January to replace this aging laptop, which at the beginning of it's 8th year, hasn't been fit for rendering anything since sometime when Phyllis Diller and Whitney Houston were still with us.  January, maybe February, is when the 2080 cards will/may become available for laptops.  Hah!

In the meantime, I may get a 2080 for my desktop machine...

    So be strong!

I am so tired.  I do not know why I am so tired.  Right now I am at an adult day center on a computer with a square monitor.  I rather be at home but that is not an option right now.

  • kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 42,159

...stress can make you feel tired.  If that square monitori s a CRT instead of flat screen, that can also cotribute.

...indeed. When I was working at my last job I was perpetually tired from all the stress as well as long days (4- 5 hours round trip each day between home and work).

Now it's from having to live on a "frayed" shoestring budget.

Being in this house with all the drama is too much, that I am taking the month of December off from work.  How does that make sense?  It was not work which was stressful but home life.

...that's not good. as it doesn't remove the primary source of stress and only means you have less income which can actually add more stress.
