Not sure Dawn is really to my taste, she does look interesting.
But dang, that MEC4D male, that is seriously good, and most of the renders were in studio, she eventually threw one in from Poser.
edit fer spelling.
This maybe your opinion but let me assure you she is a female no less than Gia is.
(and using shemale word isn't actually a proper way to address transgender/transsexual people, so just you'd know)
But have u seen her jaw? her shoulders? her implants? her flat glutes? her non curve hip?
I hope she will improve with morphs, sill i have to buy the ones that seem good
As I said earlier in the words of MADTV's miss swan "She looka lika man"
Some people say things like that. I don't see it.
Sure, Dawn isn't cute the way Stephane or Hitomi are, but she's definitely a woman. And an attractive one, from what I see. (No, I haven't played with the doll yet; I have to upgrade my copy of Studio 4 first.)
But have u seen her jaw? her shoulders? her implants? her flat glutes? her non curve hip?
Most of common women don't looks like a glamorized chick from magazine cover the way G2F and other DAZ3D main females look like so Dawn's features are well within norms. Dawn is athletic but most definitely a female. And if having a bubble butt is a requirement to be considered a female than I'm not a female either. And what you have against her jaw? So it is sharper and more defined and thus automatically male?
Depends what you want after all 3deeing is fantasy art
Greetings,
Actually, many top models have a masculine set to their jaw (and longer faces). Typically it expresses as looking somewhat like a young male, but it's significantly overcome by the clothing and makeup.
Dawn is not particularly unpleasant, but some of the characters that are already being made are definitely nice. (Nikki by VW (preview only) and Alexis by 3DU, for example.)
Don't know how much I'll spend on her, as Gen1 and Gen2 are my 'go to' folk, but I support some diversity.
Damn near returned the Xurge3D stuff though. :( Still might; I essentially had to auto-fit it to Dawn, so I'm sure it's lost some of its usefulness in the process.

V4 is still hawwt!! http://bobvan.deviantart.com/art/147-392149809

Jaw should be more round also the chin is too lower and needs more round too, its a femenine feature, that lot of men looks, the oppositte way is women tend to like prominent lower jaw and chin cos is more masculine.
Dawn is not athletic, Gia is. Dawn is a lack of femenine proportions study wich maybe is on pupose for technial things, i really don't know.
Then i never said a shemale can't be attractive, as the same way i don't wanna judge beauty, i am the first that i morph genesis to not be a supermodel, but i think if you buy a femenine figure, should be so femenine as possible to then if u want morph her and make her unique, the problem is if u buy a femenine figure and u have to morph her to be femenine. And of course in this world there is everything , there are women that looks like men and men that looks like women, but i think this doesn't mean that exist a femenine proportions.
Greetings,
My first Dawn render... Used Alexis, Xurge's Rogue, the Derelict Gazebo, and a Millennium Dragon 2... I think it worked out reasonably well.
Background is Camasunary on the Isle of Sky...I love Wikipedia!

Please, in Wikipedia find "shemale" article and read second line of the first paragraph. Shemale is a highly offensive, derogatory term when applied to transsexual or transgender women. If you meant that she is transgender, transsexual or masculine, just say transgender, transsexual or masculine, please, it is a better way. Just to note, though, that she definitely doesn't have a part that would qualify her as a "male" in any possible way or respect in case if there were any doubts of that.
Again, this is my opinion only, take it for what it is, and I fully agree to disagree on matters of personal tastes. If you don't like her, sure, don't use her, many figures didn't click with me either but demanding that her defaults should be turned in the same conventionally pretty girl that we have with any other female figure in at least recent eight years would be to rob poserverse of little versatility it just got.
P.S. Multiple edits because I overreacted a bit initially. My apologies if you read the first variation.

I have one word for you.
Morphs.
Here's a quick render in Luxus.
Aiko 5, Dawn and Victoria 6 are having a great time together :P
If Dawn was another model type I would most likely not get her, since I already have Vicky for that.
^I actually prefer Dawn out of those 3 in that render. Good job.
Cool now Luxrender that puppy
Nice
Uhm, I don't see a man when I look at Dawn. Must be missing something?
Pardon the color-working on a character-but I've been seeing comments about her looking flat and man like.
This is man-like???
Sp'lains the noise the V4 & genesis I posted about are Reality / Lux
Sp'lains the noise the V4 & genesis I posted about are Reality / Lux
Both Reality and Luxus export to the same renderer, and Luxus exposes a heck of a lot more setttings to adjust. Using Luxus does not "explain the noise."

That render is only 20mins in. If I want a clear picture I need to wait at least 10-11 hours due to bottlenecking of my i5 760, but I can speed up the time by accessing to my graphic card.
As what Agent said, they both are the same using the Luxrender.
Agent you missed my point spIain the noise was referring that he let it run for only 20 minutes. Mind you I sometimes get final renders within 10 minutes not that often but it does happen. I let the previous v4 bake for a approx 4 hours. I have 2 machines the 32G tower I built few months back with AMD ddr5 2G fire pro and my HP laptop. Probably due to the fact I use the none GPU render method the times don't differ all that much but between both but do for 3DL renders, which makes sense this they are GPU based. I know Luxus accesses more native lux settings and I have seen a few folks do some nice stuff. Reality is apparently easier out of the box. Don't matter R3 for DS is just around the corner and it will have a lot more access to native lux stuff its working for me. I have cranked out over 200 renders in the past month alone. I am sure I will "play" with Dawn when I get some more stuff why not. Anyhoo this one approx 3 to 3 1/2 hours. I rarely need 10 11 hours unless there are a lot of lights or reflective materials. Its also fun to alpha render and mix in with real pic backdrops http://bobvan.deviantart.com/art/135-391848181
While I agree that figures don't necessarily have to be 'pretty' I'm not so sure using masculine facial features was the way to go. A lot of the anatomical enhancements I'm used to seeing on Genesis 2 simply aren't present on Dawn. She's more analogous to the androgynous Genesis figure in that she sits in that middle ground which is neither male nor female. That was one of the major issues I had with the figures which came with Poser. Many of them were clearly taken from the same base and had indistinguishable facial features. The kids figures were especially frightening to look at, as they had almost adult looking faces!
I still feel they should have gone for a somewhat more feminine appearance if only to assist in future morphing. Perhaps the androgynous look will suit her well as morphs come out as it did for Genesis, though I do feel that her topology means that she's never going to look quite as realistic as Genesis 2.
Hmm. I don't see Dawn as looking masculine at all. Am I missing something?
...Steph4 was pretty "average" looking which is why, of all the Daz figures I liked her the best. There were extra body shape morphs like Super Tall, Lanky, Short etc, included with the base figure. The Addition of the Natural Moph kits made her probably the most versatile of all the Gen 4 figure expansions as she could also make use of the V4morphs++, and be mixed with other characters like Aiko4. With the NPMs one could even turn her into a very believable teen/pre teen character.
From what I have learned in the various threads, it will probably be a bit of a wait before additional morph kits appear for Dawn to be able to do the same that I could with Steph4. At this point, just a spectator.
Greetings,
Cool now Luxrender that puppyNah; I have both Reality and Luxus (prefer Luxus) for some LuxRender love, but I only bust it out for certain scenes. I know it's your thing, but I render different stuff than you, and I'm usually looking for a different look, both in characters and visual style. Thus I use LuxRender sparingly and I'm open to putting Dawn in some of my scenes. :) We all do different stuff; it's kind of awesome that way.

Say WHAT?! Everything I've seen so far (aside from a couple magnet packs) is either both, or Daz Studio specific (ie. Anything from Raw Art is DS only) Not sure where you are getting this "in favour of Poser users" And not only that, they are encouraging content creators to work to make their products work in both. It's a GOOD thing.
I've been playing with her for a while, and while she's not perfect, she's better off than V4 was at the start. And with current tech allowing fitting to be better enabled, she will be able to go a lot further, a lot faster. Many have already started fitting V4 clothing to her.
I just find it amusing that people are so willing to put her down so easily, without even really giving her a try. She's got a lot more potential than other figures I can think of.

Agreed! I just cant get results like this in 3DL http://fav.me/d6ecqxn in other cases like this I used 3DL to use AOA shaders then alpha rendered the characters in lux and mended them in PS its fun to have all these options http://fav.me/d6dhgrz I would learn luxus but R3 will be here soon..
I won't certainly deny you your opinion but If you look at characters already been released to her, her defaults don't prevent people of creating unique characters that look nothing like her defaults (including already existing glamorized and softer variations), so what the point of creating a bland(er) default shape if the both uniqueness and softness is still possible? Genesis embodies the concept of being everything which is its point and purpose, so certain blankness as a starting point is fully logical and appreciated. But Dawn isn't that and doesn't aim to be. Does it limit her, concept-wise? Probably, I mean I still think Genesis isn't surpassed in any way be it G2F or Dawn by the sheer amount of options Genesis can give but comparatively to G2F Dawn doesn't seen to be limited, judging from characters already available and what I was able to do with a pinch of extra morphs. Hopefully, though, big morphpack(s) will be released soon, because starting morphpack is definitely not enough to fully open her potential, it even doesn't even have asymmethrical morphs (I was like O_o" when I realized this). Does it mean that she should have aimed for more blankness thus losing her unique character? I think no and, again, I like her because she stands out. I'm sort of quite surprised myself that I'm standing behind her that much, almost to the point of fan-girling, me being all-Genesis and rendering mostly men and monsters and such. Maybe because she somehow clicked with me, I don't know. I'd freely admit a in-eye-of-beholder bias if yes.

...I;m just too tapped out resource-wise to buy into another figure at this time. I need to wait & see that develops first. She looks good and all, but right now is only at the state where V4 was when she was first introduced. To make her work for the needs I have, will require additional morph expansions and content support (clothing/hair/autofit clone) from the Daz end as I don't have Poser Pro 2014 with all the new fitting tools it has (nor the zlotys to upgrade from 2012).
It seems illogical for me if DAZ3D would support her. Very pleasantly surprising as it would mean that DAZ3D has far, far better ethics and open mindness that I'm giving them credit for, but illogical nevertheless. On the forums of company that made her, in Complimentary section I think there is a short tutorial about how to make your own V4 clone. From what is known to me, although I can be mistaken (and I really, really, really want to be mistaken here) DAZ3D will give all sorts of legal troubles for redistribution of any clones of its figures to Dawn, which is sort of businessly (sp?) understandable but still very-very sad behaviour to see at my opinion. I'm for full transparency of asset transition between figures, as always. Give people tools (or at least don't deny them existing tools) to keep their |clothing| libraries usable as much as possible, let people decide themselves on which figure is better to use with those |clothing| libraries, so they could base this decision on quality of figure, not on amount of |clothing| support available. Won't this way be nice? I think it would be a very nice thing to do, in upbeat, sharing, goodwill-infused, open-minded and idealistic way (which probably why it won't make much of business sense but still, it just will be so _nice_).
I just reloaded her her torso is almost Like Reby Sky... I was able to manually parent Gen hair easily
