Wow. All of these are really awesome examples. I feel like I have so much to learn still. HAHAH. I am going to start experimenting with layering clothing and hiding certain parts to see if I can come up with the right looks for certain armor, etc. Still want to do a better Captain America and Flash. But yeah, just gotta do a lot of trial and error I suppose.
You're going to have a much easier time of it than I did, if you learn to use the Geometry Editor : ) Have fun!
Marine Boy! Another classic! Well-done, as usual!

Hulk
...and, here's the one I was working on. I like some things about it and not others. The skin textures aren't matching the way they should. Also I need to work on the container he's in. Right now it's a simple steel cube which can only take one texture. I wonder if G8M will do better with anatomy than G3M... I might need to table this one while I give it some more thought...
Lee Falk's The Phantom.
Figure is Genesis 1 with Genesis Super-suit, Genesis Super-belt, domino mask from the Genesis super-masks. Trunks is K4 brief from the starter essentials. 1911 colt from ChuckNepo's freebie at ShareCG.
Confession: tried to do the striped trunks, but it honestly just really distracts from the rest of the image (especially with the original light green hue). Apologies to the purists.
Thanks!
Love your Phantom, spot on and the over undies are just fine.....
Glad you liked it Ram! Thanks!
Revisiting the Trinity. Revised from my first attempt way back 2012.
Figures are Genesis 1 with various dialed morphs. Suits are kitbashed from Genesis Supersuit and freebies from JoeQuick, TerryMcG, and Uzilite.
Sweet! I didn't see the first one, but I like it. What do you do for backgrounds and lighting? Is the lighting the cause of the rogue lines on the red shorts? And, do you render in DAZ with 3Delight?
Glad you like it, John. The rogue lines comes from stretching the K4 briefs included in the Starter essentials (by playing around with the scaling, usually the hips or the chest bones). For scenes like this, I usually render the figures individually and composite them later, using the same light set. I rarely use light presets except for initial setup of complicated scenes. Otherwise, it's just a basic 3 light source (1 direct, 1 ambient 45-90 degrees, and one behind with varying intensities and hues, depending on the desired effect). And yes, they're 3Delight as my rig cannot handle the heavy lifting for Iray.
Also, forgot to mention, for backgrounds I use a lot of stuff and kitbash those, too. While my collection isn't extensive, I have enough stuff from Jack, Stonemason, FirstBastion, Kibaretto, among others to get the look I usually want. I also swear by Ron Deviney's stuff for postwork or for applying them to the Multiplane. Brilliant stuff.
Some say this guy is the real "first" super hero, having made his debut in January of 1929, over nine years before that guy in the blue suit with the red underpants.
And his enemy Pluto! or is it Pludo? LOL
"Bluto", sometimes addressed as "Brutus", but primarily "Bluto" with a "B".
Sincerely,
Bill
You had to do it, you had to bring up Bluto. Now I've gotta work on a render of an epic battle between Popeye and Bluto over Olive Oyl.
Well, duh!
-- Walt Sterdan
I'd love to see Popeye's forearms bigger, and his jawline too. What figure is it? If you turn off the shape limits, does it do the trick? How about Pokeaway to enlarge those bits? Your render is inspired, Grinch )))
we need a Popeye... very cool
Here is a Phantom render I did for this month's Carrara Challenge.. LoRez Super Hero from P3DA retextured to The Phantom
Thanks!
It's G2M, the morphs are custom made. I can make them more extreme but I was trying to make a sort of quasi realistic "what might popeye really look like" version. I mean, the toon version would be consigned to a freak show if he entered the real world. I sort of did this as a reverse characture, rather than exagerating all the prominent features (as caraciturists do) I dialed them down a bit without getting rid of them, if that makes sense.
I'm working on my Bluto now, having a hard time deciding betwen the original comic strip / Max Fleishcher version (powerful dude with a big gut) or the 1950s / 60s version where they made him more of a bodybuilder physique (huge upper body, really narrow waist). I leaned towards the original because I love those old Max Fleisher cartoons and the original Thimble Theater comics. So here's a first cut:
"Let's go!"

Figures Genesis 1. Suits are mixed kitbash from Genesis Supersuit and freebies from JoeQuick and Uzilite. Rendered in DS. Postwork in various.
Black Regeneration Suit Superman.
Figure is Genesis 1. Suit is Basic Suit from Genesis Supersuit kitbashed with JoeQuick's and Uzilite's freebies. Rendered in DS. Postwork in various.
Hey RKane, how's barda going?
I'm working on trying to replicate some of the Avengers from the Marvel Cinematic Universe right now. It's really hard!
Here's my first attempt - Wanda Maximoff in her outfit from Captain America: Civil War. It's far from perfect, but I'm fairly happy with it. Thought I'd share and get some thoughts on it!
The Punisher (inspired by netflix)
I had trouble with this render, the probe lights just would not light up the background, so I finally gave up and left it dark and bumped up the post work effects to give it a bit less of a 3d render look.
A Sci-Fi superhero team I call the Crimson Avengers (subject to better ideas). They get their powers from nanotech and cybernetics.
Hey, @faeofthe3rddimension, I'm impressed with Wanda. I was thinking of trying that one myself, as I'm a big fan of Elizabeth's performance in that role. What jacket were you working with?
Similar question for you, @tkdrobert. I was aiming for that look for Hulk's pants, almost exactly. What item did you use for yours? I really like it...
The paints came with Mr Hyde for Genesis. So the Hulk morphs and paints are all from that product (hair is Duke hair).
