You're doing phenominally even so... Flash doesn't look hobbled in the least! :)
Hahah. Thanks!
And here is my test render of Deadshot.
This one took a bit of time. Still not done so just a WIP. Trying out all sorts of different leather textures, but can't find one that I like yet. I really wish I could work on a Spidey suit, but I can't find a Mask that works with G2M.
* Added a few pics to show my modified textures in better detail.
Thoughts?
I haven't been here in ages but... wow, you've been busy Gemini! I came here to check out you Flash outfit and ended up getting wowed by your Deadpool, Daredevil, Green Lantern, Superman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Deadshot and Captain America too! ...and they all look amazing!! Terrific work and lots of it!
Thanks bud! I am working on Spidey right now. Think I finally got the mask figured out. Sorta. Got the face textures looking decent but I am having an issue with the top and back seams though. Can't figure out how the texture map wraps around the mask. Unless I can learn how to use Zbrush or Carrarra and bring the mask in one of those, then texture it in there and export out, not sure how I can fix this.
Okay, where to start....
I think you're referring to Joe Quick's mask but since I'm not sure, let's start with some more generalized stuff. One thing I do when I'm not sure how things are mapping on an object is to create a flat grid on my texture map with each square a different color and number and then use it and see where the numbers land...
But in a case like this, it looks like what you've done has mapped in an odd way so I think remapping the UV maps (at least for the back of the head) of your 3D object might be a better option. There's freeware like UVmapper that'll allow you to create your own UV maps and texture templates. You can create custom UV maps in Hexagon as well.
You can also export texture templates for UV maps that are already attached to your 3D object in UVMapper.
That is a good idea about creating a grip with colors and numbers. I will try that. Unfortunately UVmapper and Hexagon are not compatible with MacOS Sierra 10.12.6. I have been trying to find out what other programs would be a good option for me to creature/modify clothing tectures for DAZ. Such as Carrara or Zbrush. Would be nice to work in 3D space instead of flat files in Photoshop, but not looking for a steep learning curve either.
Check out Blacksmith 3D over at Renderosity. It has a very affordable pricing plan. It is a good program and you should check it out.
Ummmm. Did you mean for him to have a gut? If that's your intent, it's okay. But the pants are just so low those abs are hanging over his belt in a very unattractive way. And the crotch of the pants doesn't look right.
No. I dialed up the body builder presets, so I think his abs just look weird in this pose and perhaps because the pants are not conforming right. I think the pants are are made for Genesis so the autofit to G2M isn't working well and I don't really know how to fix it..
Ok, so the insanity of trying to make Spider-Man using Smay's SHS for G2M continues... Quite a bit I am not all that happey with here. Been struggling to get the seams to line up in a bunch of places and wish I could figure out a way to morph the boots and make them taller. Also not happy that I can't get JoeQuick's mask to fit a little better so it could be a bit more seamless with the neck. I also need to airbrush out the original seams on the bump map and add my own.
Looks really good!
Thanks. Do you know what boots I can use that might work better. I am just using the ones that came with Smay's SHS and made the soles opacity set to 0. But these are actually a bit too short compared to how Spider-Man really looks. They should be up to mid-calf. I am almost done airbrushing out all the original seams on the suit and then it will look more clean.
These are for G3M, but maybe you can autofit them to G2M.

Oh cool. I am not sure how Autofit works, but worth a try.
Using G3 stuff in Carrara is a little tricky because it’s not officially supported. You need to convert it in DAZ Studio. I don’t have access to my computer right now, but let me try from memory. Load G2M into Studio, drag the socks onto G2. It will ask you what figure it was created for and what kind of clothing it is. Then it will fit it to G2. Select the socks and got to Edit>Figure>Rigging>Convert to Blended Weight. Save the socks as a scene subset without G3. Import the socks into Carrara and “fit it to” G2M.
So I need to open in DAZ, fit it, then convert it in Carrara and then bring it back into DAZ?
I was assuming you were using it in Carrara. If you want to use it in Studio then just autofit it and you’re done. You don’t need to do the rest.
Well, I tried to autofit and it doesn't work. The only autofit options I get are for M4, G3 Female or Genesis. None of them look right at all. The socks only have two shaping options. FBM ExpandAll or Fit Over Bottoms. Neither seem to make it fit.
Arrggh. Just spent the last hour going through a tutorial (three times) to try and create a morph clone for G2M-G3M. No go. So frustrating. I have so much darn content for DAZ and can't find a simple pair of socks that will work for my G2M Spider-Man.
There’s an autofit clone for G2M. I think it’s part of G2 starter essentials. Make sure it’s installed.
No, there's a clone for G2M -> G3M, to go G3m -> G2M you need https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-male-for-genesis-2-male-s
Just something I'm working on. Hopefully I'll have it finished before the movie comes out.
So I finally called it a day on my Spider-Man texture. Not perfect but I just can't bring myself to do anymore photoshop on this darn thing.
So this one uses JoeQuick's Spideymask, Smay's SHS for G2M and the socks are by Mighty Mite.
Excellent work Gemini!
Thanks. It has been a real pain editing these texture maps in Photoshop over and over, bringing them into DAZ only to find seams and the webbing not lining up. Rinse and repeat. I finally gave up after repeatedly trying to get the webbing on his fingers and neck perfect. That just wasn't happening. LOL
Looks very good. Yea, Photoshop is the app to beat in allot of ways but trying to use the Bridge between DS and PS is sometimes shaky at best! So I just do it the old fashioned way, I assume you as well. I'm working on new maps for a new character I'm creating and yup... PITA! lol
Yeah, I have tried using Bridge. I even tried using Photoshop 3D workspace, but that was wonky at best. Also the second I would use Undo, the workspace would act up and not reflect the painting in either the 3D space or the 2D space. So I ended up just going back to doing it by hand with the flat files. Total PITA. LOL.
Even using a UV overlay on the maps, I couldn't get any of the webs to line up 100%. None stop trial and error. Hundreds of files. Maybe one day I will be able to afford Zbrush or another app and learn how to do this all in 3D space. For now just going to have to keep doing it in Photoshop. Next up... Black suit version... Change Smay's SHS to all black material and slap a white logo on his chest. Done. HAHAHAHAHA
Sweet, Gemini! Truly impressive. I was using the M6 Superhero Suit too, but I'm running into a perplexing render problem. I've never seen it do this before - and it's not just the suit, it's the eyes too. Rendering black instead of white. I don't know if it's Surface settings, Environment settings, or what. Have you ever seen this before? Everything is optimized for iRay.
