Ouch - you have the Upgrade from Gen4 ... I think you will have to contact Daz to make them repair that one!

BTW, who do you contact in such a case - Sales or Technical Support?

Where is the manual located? I'm having trouble finding it. I have been so looking forward to this release. I want to try it out at lunch today but I don't have a connection so trying to set everything up before I leave in a few minutes. Thanks.

The GenX2 manual should be installed under docs/plugins/genesis generation x2 in the DS application folder.

Manuals for GenX2 and the Genesis 2 add-on can be downloaded from my web-site here:
    * Genesis Generation X2
    * GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 2

Product readme's seem to be missing at the moment, but they should include the manuals as well.

Thank you very much! There just seems to be so little time these days. Work takes up so much so I try and cram in when I can. Thanks for the quick response.

Mine crashes Studio any time I try to select Genesis as a source figure.
Also, since I installed it, every time I exit Studio I get a fatal error message that says:
    "DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\plugins\d3dGenX2.dll" at 0033:00000000DA73999E"

    Any ideas?

Is it for Genesis 1 only or also for Genesis 2? Also, is it crashing immediately or do you get the progress dialog where it shows that it loads the morphs?

Maybe you can try with a fresh install of Genesis. Or just move the folders from "data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base\Morphs" somewhere outside to prevent GenX2 from loading these morphs. I guess some of the morphs contains something unusual that GenX2 can't handle.

Sales - as it is the product library and you want to be able to download something you bought.
Technical would be if a product doesn't work as expected.

Crashes immediately with all versions of Genesis.

I tried moving the morphs folder as suggested, but it made no difference. Also tried redownloading and reinstalling, but to no effect.

    Which version of Dazstudio?

Edited to add: the newest version is 4.6.2.118 - I don't know which version is necessary for Genesis Generation X2, but maybe you have an older version of Dazstudio (AND the older versions of Genesis/Genesis2) installed?

Let's continue this by e-mail (my e-mail address is in the manual), looks like this may become some work to detect. Are you on Windows or on Mac?

4.6.2.118 64bit, which I believe is the latest version.
I just checked it with V4 as well, and the same thing happened.

Sucks too cause it was literally yesterday I was thinking "I can't wait until GenX gets updated/upgraded so I can use it with G2"
Now I got it, and it's not working :(

Anyone who uninstalled GenX version 1 using DIM prior to installing GenX2, beware that GenX will reappear as a download option. You will then absent-mindedly reinstall GenX, as I did! I'm not sure what the practical consequences of this might be because I quickly removed it again. So when it appears in the download list remember to hide it.

When does it crash? Each time you close DAZ Studio, even if you didn't use GenX?

I'm experiencing the same problem. I get the crash window if I just open GenX2 without attemping/loading any source figure. I am running Daz Studio 4.6.2.118 on Windows 8.

Edited to add: I get the crash window (when I exit D|S) even if I don't open GenX2. This is a brand new behavior by D|S and did not exist prior to the installation (via DIM) of GenX2 and/or the GenX2 addOns.

In general, drop me an e-mail for crashes, it usually requires some interaction to solve the problem.

If DS crashes on start or exit, the crash window will name the responsible component. If it is d3dGenX2.dll / dylib, then the problem is due to GenX2. Also, you may remove the d3dGenX2.dll / dylib from the plugins folder to see if the problem persists without GenX2.

seems to have installed OK but can't get it to work

the warnings panel shows 'no source figure definitions found' and 'no target figure definitions found'

and on the transfer pane the source/reset/load figure/apply pose buttons are greyed out

on the installed plugin panel it has a green icon

    I have 4.6.2.117 installed

Then you are probably on Windows ... That's a known problem, it may happen that the data files are installed for the wrong user.

Go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4 (with your actual user name instead of USERNAME; AppData is a hidden folder, you need to show hidden folders) and see if there is a folder "GenX2". If it is missing, look for the other users (most likely the default user) if it is located there and move it to your user folder.

I renamed d3dGenx2.dll to d3dGenX2BU.dll, opened Daz Studio and immediately closed it again. No error message. However, if I rename the dll file back to d3dGenX2.dll, open Das Studio, open GenX2 and then closed Daz Studio again, I get the crash message:

    DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\plugins\d3dGenX2.dll" at 0033:00000000F5A0999E

luxgabu: 4.6.2.117 is the public beta? The public beta has it's own data folder, so you need to copy the GenX2 data files manually for the public beta in any case.

Mari-Anne: I found and fixed a bug that may cause your problem. Drop me an e-mail, so I can send you a fix to see if it works.

OK - I just sent you an email. Thank you. I meant to tell you. initially, that I really appreciate this plugin and your very fast replies to our woes. And the price absolutely floored me. So, so very reasonable! You know, you could have gotten away with at least twice the price;)

First thing I did with the original GenX was to bulk transfer lots of selected morphs from V4, M4, A4, etc.. In order to take full advantage of the new version would it be advantageous to delete these morphs and repeat the process (or simply transfer over the old ones)?

What about specific character morphs ("Create single morph")? Will the quality improvement in the resulting morph likely make it worthwhile to re-transfer these?

If there are improvements to be had, what is the best way to handle morphs created in the previous version?

    Coon Ra said:
Oridion: “Different versions of Genesis” means Genesis 1, Genesis 2 Female, and Genesis 2 Male.
    but then you tell
The GenX2 plugin includes support for generation 4 figures (V4, M4, K4) and for Genesis 1.

and it renders the http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/genesis-generation-x2 's description misleading as the latter quote means that initial GenX2 plug-in doesn't support G2F and G2M figures without GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 2, am I correct?

The plugin is able to transfer morphs between different versions of Genesis, but you need the add-on to actually use this feature.

The product description of GenX2 mentions clearly and several times that for Genesis 2, a separate add-on is required.

It is easy to see how the write-up can be misleading. The product description for GenX2 lists "NEW Morph transfer between different versions of Genesis" without directly mentioning anything about an additional add-on. For those of us who don't care about "Genesis" 2, can you please tell us which of the new features actually apply to Genesis and not to "Genesis" 2?

Just wondering if you have to uninstall GenX before upgrading, or does it remove the old one as it's installing?
I'm not using DIM and I'm running DS4.6 win64 , but not the latest release.
    Thanks.
