The No Complaint too Trivial Complaint Thread

  • Going to be COLD in Corpus starting tomorrow until the weekend.  The heater for the office is still broken, though we did get a quote to replace the unit Friday.  Hope all the floor heaters we'll have going won't trip the breaker.

  • Complaint:  Crap! frown  Now I've got a cough and sore throat and all over blahs, on top of lower back problems.  Or perhaps it's all symptoms of the same thing?  Funny, I don't feel fluish and I did have my flu shot.  Maybe it's 'cause I got caught out in the cold rain a few days ago?  Or perhaps it's just because I went out a few days ago and touched something with some careless person's germs on it?  I try to remember to wear gloves or use my shirt cuff when opening a pull door, but it isn't always possible.  People should be more careful where they leave the germs laying about.

..oh no.  No good having multiple ailments.  Soup and tea would be the best for any cold.

Flu shot is reported to be not so effective this year.  (are they ever?)  I hope you feel better soon.

Non-complaint:  Went to bed earlier than usual last night.  Perhaps the worst night is over.  Movin' really slowly this morning, but movin'.  Breakfast was a half of a bananna (for carbs and potassium) then tea with honey to soothe the sore throat.

Complaint:  Had an old trusted customer call up yesterday with a problem and asked if he could drop it off to me.  Unfortunately I couldn't remember much about his computer and my customer records were on an off-line disk so I couldn't look them up quickly (besides I was slothing in my easy chair and avoiding spine movement when he called) so I said "Sure, drop it off I'll get to it when I can."  Then I felt guilty about the state of the house and myself so I forced myself to tidy up a bit.  About a half hour later he shows up with his computer and by then I had dug out my off-line disk and found his service reports and discovered it was an old 32-bit Vista machine.  I had to tell him that his problem required newer software and his machine was basically "past it".   I "might" have been able to find something that worked to fix his problem but I've given up handing people splintered oars when they really need an outboard motor to get where they want to go.  Sometimes you just have to reveal that "that toaster don't toast no more".  I've also given up working for basically nothing.  If they want my expertise, I'm gonna charge enough to make it worth my while.

I somehow uninstalled the drivers for my speakers built into my laptop.  I am trying to figure out how to reinstall them.

Download them from the manufacturer for your specific machine.  HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.

The doc at the emergency room told me the vaccine was only 30% effective this year.  The hospital was packed with flu sufferers, it was bad.  Those shots are not a promise of immunity, it seems.

Brrrr, in the upper 20f's outside.  Indoors it's morning thunder tea and miso soup, yum.  Yukon gold taters roasting in a light coat of olive oil and baby carrot and green bean salad with balsamic vinegarette sitting overnight in the fridge.  Later, a bbq sausage sandwich.  Life could be worse!

They never were.  They're just another way for the industry to make more money.

Yukon Gold potatoes are especially good in soups and stews.  They don't break down into mush like other potatoes do.

On mine it's a menu, ordered alphabetically...with some of those "tiles" on the right side.  The tiles aren't required for your attention, though.  I just ignore them and scroll down the menu list.   You could always look into Start MenuX.

..yeah, if medications and vaccines had a 100% cure rate, the makers would put themselves out of business.
